Chapter 20

Cadella's POV

The walk home seemed to pass much more slowly than normal, and I could only guess it was because I was so anxious to tell Vasile about the Mysterious Spirit Research Association. However, as I approached the house the outside light was on but none of the windows showed any light. Latching the gate once I was through it I jogged up the short walkway and stairs and unlocked the door.

“Hello?” I called as I relocked the door and hung my purse and keys up.

Silence filled the small apartment.

I wandered through the dark rooms, to find myself alone. My shoulders dropping a little more as I passed each room, saving Vasile’s office for last. He would have at least left a note.

Turning the light on and walking to his desk I found it cleared and empty. Odd. Perhaps he left it in the kitchen or entry and I missed it.

Spinning on my heel I headed for the kitchen first. A heavy sigh made my shoulders drop more as I was met with an empty counter and table. Still not willing to give up yet I turned to the narrow entry way. Maybe he left a note there. Something in my chest tightened when I found the small stand empty there too.

It wasn’t like him to not leave anything. Glancing at my phone I saw only an hour had passed. Maybe he’d needed something but thought he’d be back before me. Even I thought that more time would have passed before I got home.

Feeling a little more certain that was the answer, I grabbed my book and sat on the couch with it. I could do a little reading while I waited for him to return. I had just opened my book when my phone went off with an alert.

Sorry I had to leave, soricel. I had a family emergency that I had to attend to. I was hoping it wouldn’t take long, but the situation was worse than I expected. Unfortunately, I won’t be home for a few days. I’ll call you when I can. Stay safe and I love you.

My eyebrows drew together as I pushed my hair back from my face. I must have misread that. My eyes scanned the message again, only for it to be the same. Leaning forward I let my phone drop to my lap as I caught my head in both hands and sighed deeply.

That was the last thing I was expecting to hear from him. I was looking forward to telling him about the club I’d joined, but I’d have to wait. I couldn’t be bothering with small things like that if he was handling an emergency with his family. His focus needed to be there.

As the shock of the message started to fade, my torso started to loosen. It wasn’t his fault he couldn’t be here. He was where he needed to be. But I could’t help but still feel sad and disappointed.

Now knowing that he wouldn’t be here for dinner I went in search of food. Today had started out busy and good and now fatigue was starting to sink in. I wanted to eat and shower then go to bed. Deciding on something easy, I pulled a bowl out of the cupboard and poured myself a bowl of cereal. Once I finished eating I quickly showered and curled up in bed with my book.

Only to put it back down. Ice cream. After the emotional afternoon I needed ice cream.

Getting up, I quickly walked down the stairs and fixed myself a bowl of ice cream. I smiled as I poured the hot fudge on it, and topped it with whipped cream. Putting them back in the fridge I saw a jar of cherries in the back. The perfect finishing touch. Plucking out two by their stems I dropped them in the bowl and went back up stairs.

When I was just outside the door, the familiar sound of my phone ringing hit me. Picking up my pace, I looked down the lit up screen from its dock on the nightstand.

Vasile.

I quickly grabbed it and pressed accept, as I sat on the bed with my bowl in my lap.

“Hello?” I answered, trying to slow my breathing.

“Hello, soricel. I had a few minutes and wanted to check in. How was your event?” His deep voice was soothing to my aching heart.

“It was good. I joined a club, the Mystery Spirit Research Association, it’s about local hauntings and supernaturals.” I smiled.

“That sounds interesting.” He answered.

“I thought so. Is everything okay?” I asked.

“Yes. It’s nothing devastating just something I had to handle personally and be here to do it. It should only be a few days. I hope to be home before our next class together.” He smiled.

I frowned. Our next class was a week away. That’s more than a few days.

“Oh. Okay.” I couldn’t hide the disappointment this time. “Well, I’ll let you handle your things then. I won’t bother you too much, so you can focus on your work there. Just send a message when you can and let me know you’re okay once in a while.” I sighed.

“Soricel.” I could hear the smile in his voice.

My phone buzzed, making me pull it from my ear.

Vasile is requesting video.

Without giving it a second thought I pressed accept and his handsome face showed up on the screen.

“Do you miss me?” He asked once we looking at each other.

“Of course, I do.” I grinned.

“Well, at least we have video chat.” I hummed in agreement as I took a bite of my ice cream.

“Are you eating in bed?” His eyes darkened slightly.

“Just a little ice cream.” I said, plucking a cherry from the bowl and using my teeth to pull the fruit from the stem.

A strangled groan sounded from the phone I had leaned against the lamp.

“What?” I asked with a grin, recognizing the look in his eyes-his bedroom eyes.

“Tell me, soricel. Can you tie a knot with that stem?” He leaned forward, as if he was trying to get a better look.

“Actually, I can.” I laughed.

I stuck the stem back in my mouth, staring at the bowl as I focused on bending and twisting the stem. When I finished threading the end through I looked up at Vasile who was watching with hooded eyes and breathing a little heavier. Grinning I removed the stem and showed it to him.

“Watching that makes me wonder what else you can do with that tongue.” Vasile groaned as his gaze darkened and he sat back in his chair.

“Really? I wouldn’t mind showing you.” I blushed with my admission.

I’d never told anyone that.

“You’d get on your knees for me, soricel?” He asked, making me nod.

He groans again.

My cheeks heat more. I realize just how over my head I am in this conversation. I need to change the subject before I embarrass myself. My eyes dart around my brain struggling to think of something to say.

“Nuh-huh. Stop that, Cadella.” His sharpness of his tone made me look back at him.

“I’m not doing anything.” I blurted.

“You’re trying to back peddle and change the subject. I can see the gears turning in your mind. Will you try something for me?” He asks, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees.

“Anything.” I whisper.

“A dangerous promise.” His eyebrows raise, but he smiles.

“I know you won’t hurt me.” I frown.

“You’re right, but I want you to touch yourself. I want to watch you make yourself come all over your fingers in my bed.” He growls.

“Will you do it too?” I asked, feeling a little braver.

“I plan on it. It would torture to sit here and not touch myself while you play. Do you want to watch that, soricel?” He leans back his hand already on his belt and his legs spread wide.

“Yes.”

“You have too many clothes on, why don’t get you get more…comfortable.” His lips curve up into a cocky one sided grin.

The cool bowl lands with a thud as I set on the stand. Standing, I pull my leggings down over my hips and I hear the hissing sound of his belt leaving his pants. I can’t help but watch him as I stand and use my feet to free myself from my pants. He pulls his pants down just enough to expose his hard length, the wait of his pants spread tightly over his spread thigh.

“Shirt, Cadella.” He barks when I realize I’ve stopped undressing, my eyes focused on his hand he wrapped around his cock.

“Crap.” I mutter as I pull it ungracefully over my head, my rushing making him chuckle.

“Now lay back and let me look for a minute.” He grins, his hand slowly moving up and down himself. “Good girl.” He praises as I face him with him and lean back on my elbows.

“Play with your breasts.” He demands as his gaze moves over my body, narrowing on my spread legs. “You like this.” His grin grows more as he notices how wet I am.

My hands follow his hand as it moves up and down, I want it to by my hand.

“Slide your hand slowly down your stomach, touch your clit.” His words make my cheeks turn red.

He’s never been so vocal-never needed to be. But I think I love it.

I moved my hand down as he asked, pushing my intruding thoughts to the side. There was nothing wrong with having fun with my boyfriend.

My fingers slid over hard clit, making me moan. I was closer to an orgasm than I probably should be for barely touching myself. Something about doing this with him watching-even over a phone-made it hotter.

“You’re close already aren’t you, soricel.” His hooded eyes were locked on the hand between my legs.

I nodded.

“Make yourself come for me.” He rasped as his hand stroked faster.

My fingers picked up their pace as they circled the sensitive nub. I bit my lower lip, trying to hold off just a little longer.

“Come for me, Cadella.” He demanded.

His husky command pushed me over the edge. A cry tore from my throat as I tipped over the peak. I faintly recognized the sound of Vasile’s groan as he reached his own. My hand slowing to work me through the orgasm. Pulling my hand back, I relaxed on the bed for a moment as I caught my breath.

“That was beautiful, soricel.” He purred from my phone. “We’ll have to do that sometime when I’m in the same room as you.”

I leaned up on my elbows, watching as he cleaned himself of his own orgasm and adjusting his pants before he relaxed back in the chair. I pulled the blanket over me, and sat up more. My eyes catching on my flushed appearance on the small box in the corner of the call—which only made my cheeks heat more.

“Thank you for that, Cadella.” Vasile smiled.

“It was fun.” I grinned, still slightly embarrassed for doing that on screen.

A knock on Vasile’s door pulled his attention from the screen. A muffled voice said something I couldn’t understand, before Vasile looked back at me.

“I hate to run after that. But it seems I’m needed.” He smiled softly. “Will you be alright, if I go?” He asked, his thoughtfulness squeezed around my heart.

“I’m ok. Go handle what’s going on. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.” I confirmed.

“Good night, soricel. Talk to you tomorrow.” He smiled.

“Love you.”

“You too. Bye.” He said as he hung up.

I laid back on the bed, my eyes already drifting closed. I was exhausted and tomorrow was Monday, so I had to be up early for classes.
