Chapter 9 Marrying Dylan?
"Forgive me, come back to me." When Dylan said that, I could only stand frozen in place.
"I will marry you." And in the second sentence, I finally let go of Dylan's embrace.
Our eyes met, but for some reason, I couldn't interpret his gaze. I can't fathom the depth of his sincerity.
"Marry me." Suddenly, this is too sudden. But actually, it's very suitable for my gestational age. Can I think about it first? I still love Dylan, but I'm hesitant, and my child needs him.
"Give me an answer, Daniella." Dylan snapped me out of my reverie.
I tried to look towards where Lily was, but Dylan held my hand and made me lock eyes with him again. "Give me an answer. You and our baby need me." And this time, after Dylan said and acknowledged this baby as ours, I was finally able to give him an answer.
I gave Dylan a signal, and he hugged me back tightly.
"He really wants to marry you?" Lily bombarded me with questions while we were in the car.
"Yes, he said that." I stared out the window, looking at the street while trying to clear my mind a little.
"I'm glad he's taking responsibility, but I'm worried he'll be bad again." I responded to Lily's words with a nod of my head. I think so too; my concerns are the same. But I want to see how far and how long Dylan's kindness will go this time. If this is called for for the sake of our child, then say so.
"Please don't tell Damian for a while," I said, which immediately made Lily turn to me.
"Why?"
"I'm afraid he'll kick me out." Lily snorted and refocused on driving.
"He won't kick you out no matter what," Lily said softly.
"Why not? Even if I embarrass him, wouldn't he kick me out? That's impossible." I laughed."How could he possibly drive away his first love?" Lily's flat-sounding words made me turn towards her.
"Who are you talking about?" I tried to make sure.
"You, you're Damian's first love. Damian has loved you since we were still in school. He kept a lot of photos from when you were in school and also many poems in his schoolbook." Oh, what kind of essay is this? I can only laugh at Lily's words.
"I'm serious, Daniella. I saw it myself, and Damian asked me to swear not to tell you. I don't know how his feelings have developed since we graduated, but seeing how Damian is helping you, I think those feelings are still there," Lily said at length.
Wow, I didn't expect this. I held my forehead. So Damian was my biggest fan all this time. I, who was in the popular gang for beauty and wealth with Lily when we were in school, never expected there would be a nice boy who liked me. If Damian is Lily's cousin, then Damian also comes from an above-average family. But I've been too arrogant towards him since school.
"But I know you still love Dylan, so I let you go. I won't take sides with Damian even though he's my cousin. If you have your own choice, then choose that option."
Lily left me speechless; her words were always sharp, but her sincerity was unmatched. Sometimes I feel ashamed towards Lily because I don't help her much; in fact, Lily plays a significant role in my life. I even often question why there are people as good as Lily.
"Thank you. Because you're always on my side," I mumbled, without looking at Lily.
"Not always; I wasn't on your side when you wanted to abort your baby. I have never been there. I wanted you to take care of it and face the consequences of your actions from the beginning," Lily said, making me scoff. Nevertheless, his intention was for my good, so how could I not be touched?
"But, I will help your wedding go smoothly. I'll make sure you get married beautifully on your special day." Lily smiled, and now I turned to look at her.
"Lily," I called her name, unable to hide my teary eyes. Wipe away your tears. It's ridiculous; a naughty woman like you is always crying and regretting her actions. And Lily was back to being sarcastic Lily.
"This is a tearful cry, you know." I immediately wiped my teary eyes.Time flies by so quickly; we returned to the apartment so I could get enough rest. However, when we arrived at the apartment, Damian was still there waiting for us to come home.
"Oh my God, Damian. You startled me." Lily jumped when she realized Damian was still there.
"Why are you surprised? I've been here for three hours." Damian's words made me swallow with difficulty. Not to mention the memory of Lily saying that Damian had liked me for a long time, which somehow feels so awkward now.
"Daniella, sit down; I'll get you a drink." Lily pushed me to sit on the sofa. I was also forced to sit in front of Damian awkwardly, while Lily had already run towards the kitchen.
"How?" Damian's sudden question startled me. I didn't feel ready to be asked, and with an innocent face, I looked at him.
"How is it living here? Are you comfortable enough?" Damian asked.
"Yes, I'm happy to stay here. Everything I need is here, and I don't need to add anything. Plus, Lily is with me, and everything feels lighter and more enjoyable." I'm being honest, Damian's apartment is quite comfortable. It's just awkward because the owner is a friend and I'm staying for free.
"I'm glad you're comfortable here. Stay as if you were at home." After saying that, we ran out of things to talk about.
"Can I know where you guys went earlier?" Damian asked suddenly. He was so curious about our hasty departure just now.
"You said you were going shopping, but I already brought a lot of groceries. You also said you were going out to eat, while I already made pasta for you. And you still left me alone." Checkmate, I need to consult with Lily to get a unified answer.
"Do we have to take you with us to buy sanitary pads?" And Lily finally came to us with three drinks on a tray.
"Why do you need sanitary pads? Pregnant women do not menstruate." Checkmate again, and Lily also looked flustered.
"Of course for me. Why are you so curious about where I took Daniella?" And now it was Lily who managed to fluster Damian.
