Chapter 42 Cutting Off All Ties
Chapter 42 Cutting Off All Ties
"No, I've never worried about you. I'm glad you lost, and I'm glad you didn't come home or even died." My eyes narrowed, daring to reject Dylan and all the damn feelings I had for this killer.
"You're not a god, darling. No pregnant woman can kill me. Let alone a pregnant woman, even Victor couldn't beat me." Dylan laughed loudly; he got up from the bed and turned to squint at me.
"I can, because I'm Egan's daughter," I said loudly.
"Hahaha...Even Egan died at my hands, let alone you?" Dylan pointed at my face and laughed even harder. When he turned around, I grabbed the scissors from the top of the nightstand and tried to stab him. I thought I didn't want Dylan to be hurt by anyone else because I wanted Dylan to fall by my own two hands.
But as I raised the scissors I was holding, aligning them with the back of his neck, Dylan suddenly turned around.
His laughter disappeared, and his eyes widened perfectly, perhaps not expecting I could threaten him like this.
"Do it!" Dylan commanded me to stab him as I was about to, but my courage faltered, my hand went limp, the scissors fell to the floor, and I stepped back. I didn't dare to look at Dylan; my fear was the same as the fear of sinning, the same as the fear of Dylan getting hurt. Have I really not let go of Dylan after all the evil he's done to me.
"I knew you wouldn't be able to hurt me. You love me, Daniella. You won't be able to hurt the person you love." Dylan grabbed the scissors that were on the floor earlier, walked toward me, and backed me against the bedside table in front of me with fear.
"But I can do anything, even to someone I love." Dylan pointed the scissors at my chin, making me tilt my head back slightly for fear of getting hit by them.
"You psychopath!" I cursed and reviled him, but what really disappointed me was myself. Does Dylan have to make more mistakes before he's unforgivable to me? Does Dylan have to threaten my closest people again before I can do something reckless and hate him like a mad girl? Daniella, why can't you wake up? He's your father's killer!
My heart screamed, urging me to come to my senses. Dylan said he could hurt even his loved ones, so why can't I?
"Never think you can kill me again. That makes me so angry; if my child wasn't in your womb, I would have hurt you. Just like I painted on the canvas."
Dylan's words made me shudder with fear; if the painting itself was that terrifying, how much more so would it be to experience it firsthand?
"You're crazy, man," and after saying that, he just left.
I could breathe a sigh of relief after Dylan left; my son had saved me from his father. I'm grateful he's within me, and I regret ever thinking about killing him back then.
When night fell, I went downstairs for dinner. As usual, Dylan will always be in his seat at night, which is the opposite of breakfast time, which I often spend alone.
However, one thing feels missing. Dylan's parents haven't come home yet. Why aren't they joining us? Whispering, I asked Anne, but she didn't know either why Dylan's parents weren't joining us for dinner.
I glanced at Dylan; it seemed this wicked child was the culprit. Head butler, "Please call my in-laws to join us for dinner." Without asking for permission, I asked the head butler to call both of my fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law.
"What are you waiting for?" I asked when the head butler didn't leave to fetch them. However, the butler glanced at Dylan fearfully.
"The food has been sent to their rooms. They don't need to come here," Dylan said, without looking at me. I'm tired of arguing with Dylan; every time I see him, there's nothing but fighting, threats, and violence. Right now, I need to figure out how to invite my in-laws to eat together without causing a fight.
"I think my baby wants to have dinner with his grandparents. It's a shame he has to restrain himself because that will never happen." I sighed, then started cutting the steak and putting it in my mouth.
"Babies don't ask for things like that," Dylan said.
"Yes, sir, sorry to interrupt. This is a pregnant woman's hormone; sometimes it asks for something unreasonable. And we call it craving." I didn't expect Anne to be so bold as to speak like that to support my acting.
"If that's the case, call Father and Mother to eat here," Dylan ordered the head butler. I looked at Anne and smiled because our efforts were successful.
We waited quite a while for Father and Mother to arrive, until finally the head butler came back alone. "I'm sorry, sir, they refused to eat together at the dining table. They said they were finished eating and had to pack up to go home," the head butler revealed.
"How can that be! Mom and Dad still have to stay here until they recover. Besides, it's too dangerous outside. What if Victor's men come back to hurt Father and Mother again?" The head butler only bowed her head when I said that. Actually, it's not really her fault that she couldn't bring both my in-laws to the dining table, but I was just a little surprised because they shouldn't have left so quickly.
I have to persuade them. I was just about to get up, but Dylan held my hand. Don't interfere.
"Sit down and eat properly! Let my parents go where they need to," Dylan said. This time I really couldn't hold back my anger anymore. It really seems like we have to fight every time we meet.
"What the hell are you doing? You should have stopped your parents from leaving here. Your house is their house; why should they be shy about staying in their own child's house?"
"If that's what they want, then what am I supposed to do? Just let them go." Dylan seemed to be defending himself. Dylan really couldn't be relied on; I had to go alone to stop them from leaving.
It's too cruel out there, seeing how Father was begging for Mother to be saved and how Mother could be kidnapped. The situation is too dangerous; they don't deserve to be involved, but as the parents of a wanted mafia boss, they will inevitably be drawn in and used as threats.
If Dylan doesn't want to acknowledge his parents, he might as well cut off all ties. I will ask my in-laws to take shelter in my home, and I will make sure they are safe and untouched by Victor's men.
I got up from my chair again, and before I left, I said something that was weighing on my chest, "If your power can't make you respected and protect your own parents, let them go, cut off all ties. I will give them a more suitable and safe place."
"DANIELLA!"
