Chapter 183: I Came to Find You
Chapter 183: I Came to Find You
After hearing Thomas's words, Thora couldn't help but laugh.
Thomas really knew how to make himself look good. It was true that he wantedto improve the Gonzalez family’s situation, but claiming he wanted to properly compensate Thora was a complete lie.
Thora’s voice turned cold as she said to Thomas again, "Thomas, put away your shamelessness. All these years, Jane and I have gotten through everything, and betterdays are right ahead of us. Not only do I not need your compensation, Jane doesn't need it either."
"If you have even a shred of conscience left, please don't bother us anymore."
“Jane is still recovering. I don't think she wants to see you, so please leave now."
Thora asked Thomas to leave.
Meanwhile, I was curled up in Andrew's arms, sobbing quietly.
Thomas was reluctant to leave. He begged Thora, "Just let me see her. For the sake of all our years together, let me see her."
"The Gonzalez family's business has hit rock bottom. I want Jane to talk to Andrew, to give the Gonzalez family a way out."
From Thomas's words, I could tell that he wanted to see me not because he loved me as his daughter, but because he wanted to persuade me to get Andrew to go easy on the Gonzalez family.
I knew Iheld an important placein Andrew's heart. If I asked Andrew to let the Gonzalez family go, he mightconsider my feelings and give them a way out.
But the Gonzalez family had done so manyterriblethings - who could guarantee that once they got back on their feet, they wouldn't bite the hand that fed them?
Especially Thea and Nancy - they had done so many terrible things and deserved to face the consequences.
Andrew held me, waiting for my response.
I lifted my head and said softly to Andrew, "I don't want to see him. Make him leave, okay?"
Andrew reached out and gently stroked the top of my head.
He said, "Okay, just lie lie here and rest. I'll go out and make him leave."
After settling me me, Andrew left the hospital room. He lowered his voice and spoke to Thomas.
"Thomas, my wife isn't feeling well and is resting in the room. She doesn't want to see you, so please leave."
When Thomas saw Andrew come out, his voice was filled with excitement.
"Andrew, all of this is a misunderstanding. I know I've wronged Jane and Thora, but don't worry, From now on, I'll properly fulfill my responsibilities as a father."
"And Nancy and Thea, they know they were wrong. Please be merciful and let them go, let the Gonzalez family go."
"I know I don't deserve your respect anymore, but for Jane's sake - she is my biological daughter after all - please let usgo.”
"I am Jane's biological father, after all."
Thomas was trying to play the family card in front of Andrew. He knew exactly what to say to calm Andrew's anger.
Andrew gave a cold snortand said nothing.
He ignored Thomas’s pleas, turned around and called the bodyguards he had stationed outside. Soon, I heard thecommotion of Thomas being thrown out.
Since marrying Andrew, I had often attended events with Clara and had learned a lot about the Gonzalez family.
Thomas was a very proud man. If the Gonzalez family hadn't reached a dead end, he probably wouldn't have humbledhimself like this.
After Thomas was thrown out, Andrew pushed Thora's wheelchair into the hospital room.
When she saw me lying weakly on the hospital bed, Thora couldn't hold back her tears.
She came to my side, took my hand, and kept saying, "Jane, you've suffered so much. It's my fault, I didn't protect you."
Hearing Thora blame herself like this made my heart ache as well.
I shook my head at Thora, "Mom, no, it was my own carelessness."
"It's not your fault."
Thora shook her head, "It is my fault. I didn't keep my eyes open when choosing a man and ended up giving yousuch a father."
"Jane, I'm sorry."
Seeing Thora like this, I felt deeply sorry for her. What had Thora done wrong? She had simplyfallen in love with a man who wasn't worth her love.
Thora and I kept talking. Andrew probably didn't want to disturb us, so he quietly left the room and stood in the hospital corridor making phone calls.
While chatting with Thora, I vaguely heard Andrew saying something about the Gonzalez family and Nancy.
But I wasn't really listening. I guessed he must be arranging how to take revenge on the Gonzalez family.
Thea and Nancy were malicious and had used dirty tricks to frame Andrew - they deserved whatever harsh revenge he had planned for them.
Because I was so weak, Thora didn't stay long in the room before leaving. Andrew arranged for bodyguards and nurses to stay by my side while he personally drove Thora back to her villa.
Having just gone through the traumaof a miscarriage,my body was very weak. Between IV drips, I dozed off. In my haze, I seemed to notice a figure moving around by my hospital bed.
I opened my eyes and saw a man in a white coat standing by my bed. He had one hand in his pocket, and there was a sinister look in his eyes.
Seeing that I had woken up, he laughed coldly and removed his mask.
"Awake?"
He greeted me. Although he was smiling, his sinister curve of his lips made my scalp tingle.
I recognized him. He was Andrew's classmate, Henry, the deputy director of this hospital. Back when Thea was hospitalized for a scraped leg, he was the one who instructed the medical staff to make Thora give up her room for Thea.
At that time, I had begged him humbly, but he said it was all Andrew's idea.
I had no good feelings toward Henry.
I had no idea why he had suddenly came to my hospital room.
So I propped up my weak body and asked, "Henry, why are you in my room?"
"I'm a doctor. Coming to your room to prescribe medication is perfectly normal, isn't it?" Henry smiled cunningly, sending a chill down my spine.
I sat up and looked at him, saying, "You are a doctor, but you're not the one treating me. Besides, I only have minor injuries - there's no need to trouble you."
"If you have something to discuss with Andrew, you can contact him directly."
After hearing me say all this, Henry didn't respond.
He checked my IV drip, then finally spoke slowly, saying,"Actually, I came to see you."
