Chapter 180: I Am Your Dad

Chapter 180: I Am Your Dad

As the iron rod in Elise's hand got closer and closer to my head, the fear in my eyes grew stronger with every passing second.

With no way to escape, I had no choice but to close my eyes.

I thought I would surely die here today.

I closed my eyes helplessly, resigned to my fate.

The expected pain never came to my head. The moment I closed my eyes, someone pushed open the door of the small house.

Then, a voice rang out to stop her.

"Stop, don't hurt my daughter."

It was a man's voice. I opened my eyes and saw a face that was both familiar and strange.

It was Thomas.

He rushed to Elise's side and grabbed the iron rod just before it could come crashing down on my head, while the person following behind him directly restrained Katherine.

Thomas's sudden appearance caught me off guard. Especially when I heard him say, 'Don't hurt my daughter.' I was completely stunned.

Could some things I had deliberately rejected actually be true?

Katherine was unwilling to be controlled by the bodyguards Thomas brought. She said to Thomas, "Mr. Gonzalez, what is the meaning of this?"

"Thea, Nancy and I have already agreed to take action together. Why are you stopping us?"

"I was about to kill that bitch Jane."

The moment those words left mouth Katherine's Thomas turned around sharply and shot her a fierce look.

Thomas spoke slowly to Katherine, word by word. "She is my daughter. No one can hurt her."

"Whoever hurts her, I'll fight them to the death."

When Thomas said these words, his expression was serious. After snatching the iron rod from Elise's hand, he handed the mentally disturbed Elise to the bodyguard behind him.

Then, under Katherine's astonished gaze, he bent down, squatted beside me, and gently untied the ropes binding me.

I didn't stop him.

After he untied all the ropes on my body, I dragged my body, aching from Katherine's beating, and struggled up from the ground.

Thomas looked at me lovingly and apologized softly.

"Jane, I'm sorry. Dad came late. You've suffered."

When I first heard Thomas say I was his daughter, I was already quite resistant. Now, hearing him call himself my dad, I only felt like laughing.

I grew up with Thora since childhood. Suddenly having a dad pop up was really something.

Besides, all the danger I was in now was because of this man who now claimed to be my dad. Without the Gonzalez family's conspiracy, how could Katherine alone have had the ability to kidnap me to this place?

I didn't accept Thomas's belated affection at all.

I moved my wrists and said to Thomas in cold, emotionless words, "I'm sorry, Mr. Gonzalez, you've got the wrong person. I'm not your daughter, and you're not my dad."

"I have a dad. My dad has passed away."

"Besides, your last name is Gonzalez and mine is Green. How could you possibly be my dad?"

Faced with my words, Thomas fell silent. He looked at me awkwardly, wanting to explain something but not knowing where to start.

I couldn't be bothered with him.

"Thanks for saving me just now. Don't worry, for saving my life, I'll ask Andrew to show mercy and try to let the Gonzalez family off."

"As for anything else, I can't help with that."

Without saying more to Thomas, I dragged my exhausted body step by step toward the door of the small house.

Watching me leave, Thomas called softly from behind me, "Jane!"

I ignored him and went straight outside. As soon as I walked out the door, I saw Thora sitting in her wheelchair looking anxious.

When she saw me come out of the small house, a look of joy flooded Thora's face.

She called out to me, "Jane, are you okay?"

Even though waves of piercing pain came from my body, I still forced myself to shake my head so she wouldn't worry.

I said, "Mom, I'm fine."

As soon as the words left my mouth, waves of dizziness and sharp pain from my lower abdomen made it impossible for me to support my body any longer. After barely forcing out a smile at Thora that looked worse than crying, my body collapsed to the ground.

The last thing i heard was Thora's panicked scream ringing in my ears.

"Jane! Jane!"

Faced with Thora's anxious shouts, I really wanted to respond to her.

But my gradually fading consciousness left me with no strength at all.

Then, I fell into unconsciousness.

I thought, this time, I was surely done for.

......

When I regained consciousness again, I was in the hospital. The moment I groggily opened my eyes, what I saw were the white walls all around.

Two people were chatting in my room.

One woman said, "Who would have thought that Ms. Green is actually Mr. Gonzalez's daughter."

The other woman replied, "Yeah, I only just found out that Thea was actually the third party who stole Mr. Gonzalez from Thora."

"No wonder Ms. Green is a bit older than Ms. Gonzalez."

"Exactly. Mr. Gonzalez must love Thora to death. I heard from the medical staff that when Mr. Gonzalez rushed into the hospital carrying Ms. Green, his anxious look wasn't fake at all."

"After all, she's his own biological daughter."

These two people's words left me speechless. Belated affection is meaningless. Never mind that I don't acknowledge Thomas as my biological father - even if I did, how could he make up for all those years of missing fatherly love?

And how could he repay all that he owes Thora?

I wanted to open my eyes, but the feeling of exhaustion left me with no strength at all.

Those two people continued sitting not far from me, chatting non-stop.

"You know what, Ms. Green is really lucky. Only today did I find out she's actually Andrew's wife, the lady of the Lopez family."

"Yeah, it seems the Lopez family really values her. When she was brought to the hospital this time, even Clara came. Clara cried for quite a while."

"Ms. Green really suffered, but the most unfortunate thing is..."
