Chapter 80 - The Unforgiving Luna

I needed to confirm something first so I rushed to the library. The King's Library in particular.

The guards tried to stop me but I used my powers against them. They all froze the moment they took a step forward and I went inside the library, immediately started to go through the stacks of books one by one.

It didn't take long to find it. A particular book that talks about the pure blood.

I skimmed through it until I found the part.

The preparation one would have to go through before drinking the blood of a full pure blood.

One needs to bath with the blood of a powerful leader for seven days. It is meant to cleanse the person in preparation for the consumption of the pure one.

I remembered what Ethan had mentioned just now. "Grayson smells like blood these days"

The King....

My eyes narrowed in suspicion and I read the book again.

It says, "One needed to bath in the blood of a powerful leader"

"The King is a powerful leader" I whispered to myself. "And he's nowhere in the palace"

"Grayson..." My lips curved "You've hidden yourself too well"

I left the library, releasing the guards from my spell as they continued to guard the door as if no one had been there.

If Grayson was who I was beginning to think he is then there was a probability that he ordered the massacre of Hazel's family years ago.

Ezra's true master was.... Grayson.

It isn't surprisingly because they had history. Why haven't I noticed this before?

I quickly sent a mindlink to Fred 'Send out a tail to Grayson. I want to know where he has been and where he is right now'

'I'll send our best man right away' Fred replied without asking me questions.

I started the car and head out at my fullest speed. I hoped I could get to her on time.

All this while,i had been thinking from Ezra's shoes and that's why I couldn't find her but thinking from Grayson's shoes, everything started to make sense.

Ezra was shrewd and smart but Grayson... Since he was able to deceive everyone so well, then he has a psychological problem. People with that are usually insane.

I stepped on the gas to increase the speed in which I was going. It didn't take too long for me to to get to Hazel's former place where she used to reside with her parents.

It looked different than I remembered it to be. The building and surrounding looked abandoned. As if even a sould didn't reside here any longer which was strange.

I remembered watching her here myself, from quite a distance as I couldn't let anyone know I was around.

I knew what they were planning and I wanted to help her out but her after wouldn't listen to me when I offered to help. He thought I was thesame with Grayson. He thought we were all thesame so he was scared of him and refused my help.

Instead, he tried to run away. It was too late when I received the call in the middle of the night. When I arrived, the damage had been done already, I met her Mom and Dad in the pool of their own blood. The boy was nowhere to be found so I traced her.

And there, I found her just when Ezra and his men cornered her and then she jumped off the cliff into the deep waters.

There was noway anyone could survive that fall.

I was going to ignore it and be on my way. Afterall, it was her Dad who refused my help. We could've avoided all of these if he had just taken my hand but he ended up suspecting me probably because of my reputation.

But I still couldn't just leave which was so unlike me. I wondered what I was doing when I took several steps back and jumped inside the water with her in an attempt to save her but I never found her.

I didn't even know what she looked like at the time.

Two years later, I was meeting her again, as my mate.

Life has a funny way of working.

The house empty. It was unlocked and looked like it had been occupied until now.

I swallowed when I noticed there were traces of Hazel in here. The blood splashes, hair.

It looks like a fight had happened in here.

"Hazel?" I called, looking around for anymore of her I could find.

I swallowed hard, my jaws clenched tightly as I realized that she wasn't here.

She was gone!!

....

Hazel's Pov

The faint noise I could hear from outside woke me up from my sleep.

I quickly tapped Ryan to wake as we both stood up to listen closer.

There was a commotion. Grayson's people must have realized we were here and came back.

My heart skipped a beat in fear as I swallowed hard, my eyes searching around for possible places to hide in case they discover this place.

"I told you there is no one here!! It's just I and my daughter" Lorelei screamed at whoever was there and I heard footsteps above us. It went back and forth without the person saying anything.

"I was telling the truth yesterday. I didn't hide anyone"

It was quiet for a while and then I heard somethings breaking and then a screech. It looked as if the table above us was being dragged away.

He found us!!

My heart hammered against my chest in fear as I exchanged glances with Ryan.

"We can hide over there" he suggested and I gave him a nod, putting the foam bed away and taking a plank with me as we hid somewhere.

It didn't mean that they won't find us but we weren't going to go down a second time without a fight!

I held the plank tight in my hand when I heard the door above the underground basement open and someone came in.

I was shaking by now but I tried to keep it cool. I tried to reassure Ryan that it will be fine so I waited.

I couldn't hear Lorelei's voice anymore. All I could hear was the footsteps that approached slowly.

I had my heart in my throat as i clutched the plank harder, lifting it a bit as I was ready to hit whoever was coming.

I saw his shadow first.

"Grayson..." I thought but not until that familiar scent filled my nose and I heard his voice.

"Hazel?" He called and I froze, hearing his footsteps get nearer and nearer.

'It could be a trick. A trick to lure me out' I Kept telling myself but as he got closer, I wasn't too sure anymore so I ended up stepping away from my hiding spot.

"Kieran...." I whispered, stepping away from where I hid. It was him. It was really him. "Kieran?!!"

I don't know really know why but a feeling of relief rushed over me and I became weak instantly as the plank feel from my hands. My legs gave out too but Kieran was quick to catch me.

He held me tight in his arms, kneeling and kissing the top of my head as he hugged me.

Was it just weeks or months but it felt like eternity since I had last seen him. His beards had grown out, making him almost unrecognizable.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry it took me so long" I heard him sigh in relief but it was more like in a shaky breath as he hugged me tighter as if he wanted us to meld into one another.

"I thought it was someone else coming. I thought he was going to take us again" I tried hard not to cry. I felt as if this was my most vulnerable state.

I was glad it was him. I was glad he found me first because that was all that mattered.

"Are you hurt anywhere?" He searched my body for any injury and I shook my head but still let him check.

"I was so worried, Hazel. I'm sorry for not coming sooner"

The sound of someone clearing his throat disrupted us and we both looked towards Ryan. He was just standing there, next to the plank I had thrown away.

"There's another living being in case none of you noticed"

Kieran helped me up with himself as both men stared at each other.

"I'm Kieran" Kieran extended a hand to Ryan didn't bother taking it.

"Well Kieran, I have never heard about you. Who are you to my sister"

Kieran shifted his gaze to look at me first before looking back at Ryan "Her mate.... and her husband soon" he added and I could see Ryan's eyes widening.

Rosati's"She's too young for marriage" he decided.

"No, Ryan. I think I am old enough already" I chimed in and he scoffed.

"I haven't approved yet" he said and wanted to leave but stopped to ask a question. "Are you sure you can protect us from those people if they come back here?"

"You don't have to worry about that. As long as you're around me"

"Hmph... It's not very wise to be so confident. Have you seen them?"

"I don't have to" Kieran shrugged, holding my waste as he guided me forward to climb the stairs to reach outside where Lorelei was waiting anxiously.
