He Was Not Going To Back Down
Carson's POV
I rushed towards Bethany's house in anger the next morning but I can't say it's morning yet because the sun is not even out but I can't wait.
Ever since I got to know that Bethany was my mate at the party and was slapped with the reality that she might not want me, I have been restless.
Cuss has not even been better, he was agitated and wanted to meet his mate but I managed to keep him at bay I do not know how long we can hold on that was the reason why I came running to Bethany's house that early morning.
I do not know how to feel or what I should do but I know if I do not see Bethany at the time I might go crazy and I would not want that for myself.
I stood anxiously at the pouch of her house as I debated if I should knock on her door or not but after much debate I decided to choose my sanity.
It's either my sanity or I should disregard my feelings and face the consequences.
I knocked on the door gently but I did not hear anything after some time but I did not stop.
I was not going to stop until she came out to see me. That was my resolute decision but after a long time of banging my hands on the door that I am very sure that would have been causing disturbance to the neighbors I stopped.
I stepped away from the house pouch trying to see if I could find any way into the house since it seemed that Bethany was not going to get the door anytime soon but I found none.
So I choose a more prude option.
"Bethany Wayne! Are you in there? If you are in can you please come and open the door, I really want to see you!" Carson screamed at the top of his lungs but he was met with no response except his voice echoing back.
"Do we really have to do this? It's embarrassing you know," Cuss grumbled and that was the first time he was saying something to him that morning. "We can just jump in through the window and apologize later," he suggested but I shook my head.
That was not a gentleman's act.
"No, that is not right we can not badge into the house a single girl like that," I reasoned but I heard Cuss grumbled not liking the idea.
"She is not just any girl but our mate….Mate," he said and I sighed. He does not understand the situation that we are in but I do not blame him, all he is concerned with is the mate's bond he felt towards Bethany's wolf but I care more about the mate's bond.
I care about affection too.
"We are going to keep doing this until she hears us," I said and I started calling out Bethany's name again this time I did not stop no matter how disheartening her unresponsiveness was.
Bethany's POV
After getting home from the party the other night I did not bother to take a shower as I dumped myself on my bed in despair not even bothering to dry and that was my first mistake.
I was too occupied with my emotions to care about taking care of myself after falling into a swimming pool. I just could not gather my thoughts.
What went wrong? How could I have forgotten to use my scent mask and then caused this so much trouble?
I self blamed myself for not caring about anything in my surroundings but I got alarmed when I sneezed and I knew I had just caught a cold.
"Oh, please don't tell me," I say touching my forehead but my burning temperature was about as proof but I was too tired to do anything.
As a werewolf we don't usually get sick, catching a cold was even rare since we sometimes do without clothes as we shift but it seems tonight was different.
I decided to sleep a little. Maybe I could sleep the cold off and I could also forget my mate's sad face but I got disturbed by the constant knocking on my door.
"What is that?" I wondered but I did not make an effort to stand up but the knocking became persistent and after a while, he changed to screams.
"Is that Carson screaming?" I mumbled slowly and I wondered what he was doing at my place at night only for me to turn to check the time and I was surprised to see that it was 4 already.
But what was the arrogant jerk doing at her door by 4 in the morning?
After the noise becomes unbearable I know I have to go out unless the man would not let my neighbors sleep in peace.
It's just 4 in the morning for God's sake.
I dragged my haggard body through the stairs and I hissed in pain with every step. The cold had consumed me now I started wishing Meemaw was here, maybe I would not have fallen sick.
I felt crazy Beth jubilating in joy after she knew that Carson was outside and I scoffed at how she could be a pervert. Was she not supposed to be on my side?
I opened the door to be faced with Carson's breathtaking face under the dimming moonlight that had yet to set. He always made me breathless.
He looked breathless after screaming his lungs out and I looked at him in bewilderment.
"What are…," I was about the question with my croggy voice but Carson stopped me by rushing towards me and his sudden movement kind of surprised me.
His closeness filled me with a different form of warmth and I could feel energy surging through my weak body. What was that?
"You can not push me away!" I heard Carson say and I was confused but before I could say anything again he interrupted me. "I would not let you do that," he says, taking my cold hands in his and since it wasn't morning yet I bet he could not see my face properly.
"I definitely would not allow it," he says, running his hands through my dry lips and I felt my legs shake but before I could register what was happening to me I felt moist lips on mine.
What? Did Carson Grey just kiss her?
