As soon as Sarah got out of the elevator and about to cat-walk to the corridor that led to my office, my band of security stopped her with their hostile faces which brooded no joy.
Puzzled and locked between the devil and the deep-blue sea, Sarah took off her sunshades perhaps my security mistook her for some ill fated stranger. Such things were bound to happen considering the fact that I was most reverenced by people around the world and all the most dashing ladies wanted me.
“Hey, don’t get it twisted,” she protested, “I am Sarah Canon, the soon-to- be wife of Mike Don, the world richest man.” she stuck out her finger to flash the diamond engagement ring at them. “Why are you embarrassing me? I would take it that you pimps don’t know me too well but please henceforth, let it be officially known that I am Sarah Canon, Mike Don’s adorable fiancée.
“We know all that Sarah Canon,” one of my security groaned, “We know who you are but our boss the same person you claim to be your fiancée issued out an order that we must not allow anything that looks like Sarah Canon to get close to his office.”
“Yes Sarah,” another of my security intoned , took off his sunshades just to let her be informed of the seriousness that accompanied my order, “Our boss , Mike Don , the world richest man warned us sternly never to let you into the office , unless we want to lose our jobs. And because we wouldn’t want to lose this fabulous job, that is why we are doing this.”
Sarah snapped, pointing at her head, “Are you out of your minds, uh?” she shared a maddening stare at the security who manned the entrance to my office with their hands locked together, “Do you know who I am to Mike Don? Do you realize, I am Sarah Canon or is there a mix up somewhere? I suggest you return to your boss and inquire about me before jumping into conclusion. I still insist you are mistaking me for someone else, perhaps those cheap ass ladies that hound around him.” she tossed her head , “But I am not one of such girls. Anyways I will forgive your carelessness and mistake, but you must let me go into the office…” She dared to advance a little further and the security stopped her, “Out of my way now. I got a wedding to plan!” she yelled.
“I am sorry Sarah Canon,” another of the security sounded and shot his frown at her, “We know you. We are professional. Our boss, Mike Don cannot issue out an instruction and we would do otherwise..”
Another security beamed emphatically and pointed at her, “The world richest man wasn’t drunk when he mentioned your name. He was very much aware of his action. He said Sarah Canon, the tall, white, blonde, curvaceous lady mustn’t be seen anywhere around the Saint Don Group.”
All the while the young man spoke, Sarah Canon stared gaping at him. She swallowed hard but there was no saliva in her mouth to go down her gut. What could be happening? This was strange! All of a sudden, she started sweating nervously on her brow and nose.
“No! No!” she protested and dug into her hand bag to bring out her phone, “This can’t be true. There is a mix up somewhere. My husband, Mike Don can’t issue out such orders. Can you people hear yourselves? Do you realize that he engaged me just some nights ago and we have got a wedding to plan?” she squeezed her lips and her jaw sagged in rage, “Oh I pity you maggots! If the mistake is coming from you idiots, I will get your ass sacked because this embarrassment must not repeat itself for the second time.” She paused to listen to her phone call.
But my number wasn’t reachable. She dialed my line once again and it still wasn’t reachable. She only could force a complacent smile even when she knew the devil’s birth was already heating on her. She snorted, bit her lower lips when further attempt to get me proved abortive.
“What the hell is happening here? What are you maggots insinuating, uh? What makes you feel I would believe such lies from you ingrates? My husband is expecting my arrival.” She cast a cautious glance at her watch, “Take a look at the time. We slated 2:PM to shop for our wedding accessories. This is exactly 2 PM and I am faced with your ugly faces.”
“We are sorry Sarah Canon.” Another of my security sounded, fondled into his pocket , and pulled out her photos, “Is this not your picture, uh? Perhaps you feel we are acting on our discretion. Our boss, the world richest man gave us your photo as a matter of emphasis so that we don’t embarrass the wrong person. This is a standing order. And we prefer to embarrass you than disobey our boss.”
Sarah Canon peered her face at the picture. This was her photo. Yes there was no mistake about it. There was no mix up either.
“This band of security were actually correct. What could be happening?” she thought.
Her face frowned and meshed up like the dung of a pig , “But why would my husband give out such order? Did I do anything wrong? What could be happening, uh? Please did you hear him nag about anything wrong that I did?” she queried nervously, stroked her hair, and began to pace up and down the corridor. “Oh my God! What is happening? We got a wedding to plan! This can’t be happening now!” she nagged, stamped her feet on the floor, pummeled her feet into her palms and began to sob
She gazed upon the diamond engagement ring on her finger and breathed a bit easily. The diamond ring was her solace right now. She believed I engaged her and there was no call for alarm.
She turned around to walk away…
When she heard the door creak, she swirled around and caught sight of me standing at the door of my office, with hostility decked on my face.
Vengeance was about to be served.
