For half the month, I had pondered over my leap back to unlimited wealth. Soon my name returned to the lips of the public and many were yet to strike balance with one hundred thousand dollars multiplying so well that I could afford sixteen trillion dollars for the Suburban Real Estate.
Many said it was more than a leap while others yearned to hear the exact secret from me.
Almost every day, jail inmates gathered around the TV to have first hand information about my return to wealth after the storm that hit my group.
Nobody was shocked and disappointed as Fanny Luis and Morgan Harris.
“Oh my holy dragon!” Morgan Harris exclaimed and bit his lower lips in fury. He suddenly felt vague and sucked. He expected to see me on the street of Rio Hondo serving as delivery boy. “Can you believe that , Fanny?” he pointed at the TV which had a recap of my speech at the auction ground .
Fanny Luis stroked his brown hair confusedly and felt the loss and disappointment which clogged his throat. His frown thickened as he listened to the broad cast on TV.
“I am as shocked as you, Morgan. But I thought he lost his net worth. He is not supposed to be financially fit to afford sixteen trillion dollars for the Suburban Real Estate. This can’t be true. Morgan are you sure this son of a bitch actually lost his net worth?”
Morgan Harris snorted and nodded firmly, “Come on the news was making the round. Everyone confirmed that Mike Don’s net worth was reduced to one hundred thousand dollars. Didn’t your daughter visit you, feeling excited that she was going to stay back since Mike Don was back to poverty?”
Fanny’s face got swallowed in the cloud of frown which ate up his wrinkled jaw, “Yes, of course, she did. But how come Mike Don beat Thomas Jackson’s bidding at the auction? Don’t you think that something is fishy somewhere?”
The news has it that the highest bidding rate for the Suburban Estate was slated for two trillion dollars but Mike Don bargained more than necessary and raised the dike to sixteen trillion dollars, making Thomas to give up” he sounded, shook his head and added, “Indeed there is trouble in paradise.”
Morgan Harris affirmed to it with a nod, “How did he find his way back on track again. Some body that lost his fortune is not supposed to have money let alone sixteen trillion dollars to buy an estate.” He pointed in the space thoughtfully, “In other words Mike Don has unimaginable trillions of dollars which are yet to be spent.”
These two men sat down and brooded over my life; hmmm.
Fanny Luis retuned his gaze on my picture which the media kept showcasing on TV. “The most maddening of it was when they asked about his total net worth, the foolish rich kid said his net worth is I-can-never be poor.”
Morgan tossed his head in confirmation, “Now you understand what I am talking about. There is something about Mike Don we are yet to know. From the looks of things he is back with unimaginable wealth. Initially he was worth five hundred trillion dollars but today no one not even Forbes can predict his net worth.”
Fanny’s jaw ground and his lips curved in ruin. There is no need basking in the joy of his downfall. We only made a fool of ourselves by celebrating his downfall. I was already drinking a toast to the downfall of my former son-in-law who shocked us by leaping to unfathomable wealth…”
Morgan snorted exhaustibly; the redness of his eyes was pure evidence that he regretted celebrating my downfall, “Hence forth I would try my best to stay off anything that has to do with Mike Don because that boy is more mysterious than serpent.”
Fanny Luis swallowed hard, “I don’t think my daughter will be staying back anymore after hearing news of mike’s return to wealth.” He raised his gaze on my image which was still on TV, “To be frank with you Morgan, I regretted maltreating Mike Don when he was my son-in-law. I really brought hell upon that boy. I never allowed him to consummate his marriage with my daughter. I never wanted them to have children that would be poor like him,” he hummed and bit his lower lip.
Morgan’s eye lashes corked and the frown on his face wasn’t different form one that could break down in tears soon, “I did worse to him. I shouldn’t have accused him of siphoning fifteen billion dollars. At the time he was the least staff in my company and the poorest too…” he hissed, “I don’t just want to recall such horrible past…”
Fanny sniffed and lowered his gaze before shaking his head, “The other day at the games an inmate punched me in the face.” he rubbed his swollen red chin.
Morgan pulled a narrowed brow at his swollen chin which struck his attention now he was rubbing it, “What did you do to earn a punch? This is jail. You just need to stay out of trouble. By the way what did you do?” he queried.
Fanny snorted and dragged a grin across his face, “I only made mention of Mike Don being my former son-in-law and the inmate warned me to keep shut and stop telling a lie. When I pressed on and told him, Mike Don was my daughter’s ex husband, he punched me in the face for making such ironical statement. Can you imagine that?”
A strange gloom flushed across the face of Morgan, “Thank you very much for sharing your experience with me. I was actually planning to tell my cell mate that Mike Don was once my delivery boy. Who knows if my head wouldn’t roll if I should make such utterance?” He shook his head in pity and added, “We all need to be careful of what we say about him. Mike Don is the god of wealth now and he has avid fans that could burst your eyes for saying trash about him even if there is truth in it.”
Trouble ahead…
