Chapter 107 One day - Dante

Chapter 107 One day - Dante
I have been in many fights in my lifetime, but nothing could have prepared me for dodging a drugged girl's advances. The skin on my neck is tender from the way Fiona sucked it, and I'm pretty sure my mother is going to slap the back of my head when she sees it, but it was all worth it.
She was like a dog in heat last night, and if she was left with the wrong man, bad things could have happened to her.
That makes me insanely angry, and I want to punch whoever drugged the girls.
I look at her lying on the couch, her lips open and her face so beautifully innocent.
I think that's why I like her, it's because of the innocent look on her face. I have this innate need to protect the Irish girl, to make sure no harm comes her way.
I've been feeling like this ever since the first night I saw her at the fighting club. She looked at me with excited eyes, and all I wanted to do was make her mine.
Come to find out, she was working for the don's son. I thought there was no way I would ever be able to date her, so I found ways to see her. I'd lounge outside the beauty school she attends, and now I have even landed this job, putting me right where I want to be.
Good thing too, because who was going to take care of her last night?
I might have touched her, but that was only to help her out and make her tired so she could go to sleep. She eventually did, and I fell asleep on the couch just next to her, to make sure nobody came in except for Frank who looked downright scared of her. Scary Frank who is never scared of anything was scared of a girl. He'll probably die with that secret.
She's gonna have a headache when she wakes up, so I get up as quietly as possible to go to the kitchen for some pain killers.
"Dante!" My aunt, who works in the kitchen exclaims when she sees me. "What are you still doing here? You were only supposed to work until five am"
"Do you guys have something for headaches around here?" I open a cabinet door. This is the mafia, I'm sure they have much worse things around here than painkillers.
"What happened to you?" Aunt Rosa looks suspiciously at me. "You have hickeys. Did you sleep with the staff? Dante!"
"No." I chuckle. "They're for Fiona."
"Fiona?" Aunt Rosa's voice softens. "Is she sick? I could make her some soup."
"That's actually a good idea." Soup never hurt anyone, and aunt Rosa is one of the best cooks I've ever encountered. Maybe her soup would make Fiona feel better.
"She's a good girl that one. I like her."
That surprises me, and pleases me all at once. There has never been a girl that I'm interested in that my family liked. So much so, that when I do date someone, I keep it a secret from them. The problem is, they always seem to find out the truth and harrass me for it.
Aunt Rosa opens the medicine cabinet and takes out a box of painkillers. "Tell her that I will be waiting for her for the cooking lessons today."
Fiona is taking cooking lessons from my aunt. And just when I thought she couldn't be more perfect.
Frank stops me at the bottom of the stairs, his analyzing gaze going to the bottle of water and pills I'm holding. He's also looking tired, mostly from staying awake to make sure I wouldn't take advantage of Fiona in that state.
"Is she okay? Still breathing?"
"Yes." I sigh. "I figured she might have a headache from the drugs."
Frank nods. "Thanks for last night, you were great with her."
He'd be stupid not to know by now that I like the girl. She might be scared to talk to me now, but hopefully I can show her that she can trust me, and that she can talk to me.
"I was happy to help, that's part of my job, right?"
Frank narrows his eyes at me. "I like you, kid, you're a hard worker and you have great intuition, but Fiona is like my little sister. Hurt her, and you'll find out how tasty the barrel of my gun is."
Frank is a dangerous guy, one of the best in the mafia and a legend on the streets. I do not want to get on his bad side.
"I won't hurt her." I say earnestly. Fiona is too precious to hurt.
He studies me for a bit before nodding his head. "Good, now go."
I don't get told twice, and I hurry to the movie room, where I find Fiona sitting upright looking confused, her eyes widening in surprise when she sees me.
"Good morning." I smile. "How are you feeling?"
She opens her mouth to answer, but no words come out, and I just smile. She can still not talk to me, but that's okay. Maybe soon.
"I got you water and something for a headache."
She takes it from my outstretched hand, her cheeks pink as she looks at me.
I'm about to take a seat and talk to her about last night, when the girl runs past me and out the door like I scared her or something.
I chuckle, shaking my head before I smell my fingers. They still smell like her, and one day soon, Fiona is gong to sit on my face and I can taste her all I want.
