Chapter 50 The Vegetables Have Arrived
Chapter 50 The Vegetables Have Arrived
Vivian still took action.
Ever since she returned to the Wells family main house, her confidence had been soaring.
Plus with the sudden huge increase in funds she could now access, Vivian had been under the illusion that the whole world was at her disposal.
So she didn't hesitate to log onto the dark web, chose a relatively expensive assassin organization, paid the deposit, and filled in Olivia's information.
[If you can complete the mission today, I'll add an extra million.]
After typing the last word, Vivian showed a confident smile, certain of her success.
The Eclipse assassin organization that received Vivian's commission and message quickly sprang into action.
They were already an organization that ranked in the top ten on the assassination list, and with Vivian's generosity, Eclipse's leader waved his hand decisively, telling everyone without assignments to go assassinate Olivia:
"Whoever kills the target gets this million!"
Motivated by money, almost everyone in Eclipse mobilized.
At this moment, Olivia had just returned to City A and was listening to Tom tell her how he'd dealt with one troublemaker after another who tried to mess with the orphanage these past few days.
"Liv, this mechanical arm you gave me is so useful. Whether it's people targeting the orphanage or people targeting the mechanical arm itself, with this arm, I can fight them all off!"
Olivia smiled without saying anything.
Suddenly, she sensed people spying from the shadows, and quite a few of them, so she said calmly:
"Take the kids to the playground for a bit. I have something to handle indoors."
Tom was Olivia's most loyal follower and didn't ask why, executing immediately.
After the orphanage interior was completely cleared, Olivia's cold gaze swept over a corner by the wall.
The two assassins hiding in that corner suddenly shuddered, feeling like they were being targeted by some terrifying creature, the sensation shooting straight to the top of their heads.
One assassin was getting cold feet:
"Something seems off."
The target was clearly just a young girl - how could she possibly detect them? This wasn't normal!
The other assassin had already been blinded by money:
"Nothing's off! If you don't want this million, I do!"
With that, this assassin charged at Olivia, wanting to finish her off with one swift strike.
But Olivia directly grabbed the opponent's knife, and with one swift move, finished him off instead.
And that wasn't all.
Olivia had already confirmed the locations of all the assassins in her mind, so her steps didn't stop as she headed straight for the second assassin!
Another one-hit kill!
By the time the remaining assassins realized something was really wrong and wanted to retreat immediately, it was too late.
Olivia ultimately left three alive, because she really wanted to know who was stupid enough to send such third-rate assassins to kill her.
This wasn't an assassination - it was a delivery service.
Olivia played with the knife in her hand, her tone cold:
"Only one of you can live at most. Whoever wants to live should tell me something I want to know."
Facing Olivia's overwhelming pressure and their desire to live, the three assassins quickly handed over the information Vivian had provided them.
Just as the assassins thought they'd escaped disaster, Olivia struck again.
Then, she took these bodies and, through Evan's connections, went directly across cities to the Wells family main house.
The Wells family's security systems were useless against Olivia's skills.
In just half an hour, Olivia had already placed all the assassin bodies in Vivian's luxury bedroom.
Then she swaggered out through the front door.
When Olivia reached the first-floor hall, she ran into Emma.
Emma was instantly stunned and quickly stood up. Just as she was about to speak, she was stopped by one cold look from Olivia.
By the time Emma wanted to speak again, Olivia had already left the Wells family.
"It's her, it must be her, my daughter must be her! She looks so much like her! So much!"
Although Emma and Olivia didn't exchange a single word, seeing Olivia's face for the first time still made Emma extremely excited.
Thinking about how Olivia had just come from Vivian's room, Emma immediately went upstairs, preparing to ask Vivian about it.
Vivian had just returned to her room and was nearly scared to death by the bodies inside. After she finally managed to cover her mouth and calm herself down, she received a cancellation notice from the assassin organization she'd commissioned.
"How is this possible?! She's just an orphan with no parents!"
Vivian was in disbelief while quickly backing out of the room.
She had just left the bedroom when she bumped into Emma, scaring Vivian into screaming:
"Ahhh!!!"
Emma was also startled, but she couldn't care less about Vivian's pale face and panicked expression right now - she only cared about Olivia.
"Did you invite that Olivia over just now? Are you two close? What kind of person is she normally?"
Faced with Emma's string of questions, Vivian's mouth twitched for a while before she finally forced out a stiff smile:
"She just asked me about college stuff. After all, I got a guaranteed admission. But her grades have always been at the bottom, consistently last in the class. She doesn't have any friends at school, and actually... many classmates really... don't like her."
Vivian wasn't lying, she just didn't mention Olivia's recent moments of glory.
Hearing this, Emma's bright eyes gradually dimmed.
Seeing this, Vivian felt secretly pleased and couldn't help but build up her kind persona:
"But I've always looked after her. Otherwise she wouldn't have come all this way to ask me about things."
Emma held Vivian's hand, her face full of affection.
After seeing Emma off, Vivian's face immediately turned pale again, and her legs were so weak she could barely stand. She could only lean against the wall and slowly slide down until she sat on the floor.
"How did things turn out like this?! What went wrong? No! I absolutely cannot let Olivia return to the Wells family, and I can't let her know any of the truth!"
Vivian went from breakdown to being filled with hatred again in just an instant.
Meanwhile, back at the orphanage, Tom told Olivia that she could now check if she'd been accepted to university.
"Liv, I've got the computer all ready for you. You'll definitely get into Washington University!"
Unlike Tom, who was holding the computer with an excited expression, Olivia just raised her eyebrows slightly, then entered her personal information into the computer.
Tom and all the orphanage kids gathered around Olivia, staring at the computer expectantly, silently praying for her.
After Olivia entered her information, seeing this scene, she couldn't help but smile.
Then the computer screen displayed the words showing that Olivia had been accepted to Washington University.
"Liv, I knew you could do it! Isn't this just like those underdog-to-hero stories you see in novels all the time!"
Tom shouted excitedly, and the kids around them cheered.
Only the person in question, Olivia, had a calm expression.
Being accepted to Washington University was, in Olivia's own view, completely natural and nothing to get excited about.
