Chapter 37 Medical Miracle
Chapter 37 Medical Miracle
Olivia was stopped by security at the gate.
Without wasting words, she kicked the guard away and slid right through the security checkpoint.
Then, following the research facility's layout in her mind, Olivia began searching for the girl, lab by lab.
The guard Olivia had knocked down finally came to his senses and immediately jumped up, shouting:
"Someone's broken in! Quick! Alert the entire security department!"
He yelled into the phone while carefully watching Olivia's movements, afraid she might attack him again.
Olivia didn't care about security at all—in her eyes, all security was useless anyway.
She ignored the voices around her demanding to know who she was. When she saw guards, she fought them. When she saw children, she rescued them directly.
Just like that, fighting her way through, on the second basement level of the research facility, in an operating room with the "Surgery in Progress" sign lit up, Olivia finally saw a familiar face—Lily.
At that moment, Lily lay pale on the operating table, and the heart monitor beside her showed only weak breathing.
Standing next to Lily was a doctor in a white coat.
Right then, the doctor was holding a scalpel, gesturing over Lily's body.
Seeing this, Olivia kicked the scalpel out of the doctor's hand.
The doctor's calm expression instantly changed, and he glared at Olivia furiously:
"Who are you? Don't you know I'm performing a great surgery?
Who allowed you to come in?!"
With that, the doctor pushed open the operating room door and pointed outside, saying to Olivia:
"Get out right now, and don't make me say it twice!"
Olivia tilted her head, gave him a cold glance, and sneered inwardly.
What great surgery—it was just a fancy excuse for experimenting on living people.
She had thought that since he was a doctor, he would at least have some medical ethics.
Now she realized she was wrong. This was clearly an unethical, corrupt doctor!
Seeing that Olivia not only didn't move but dared to look at him with such contempt, the corrupt doctor grew even angrier.
He grabbed a sharp scalpel from the nearby surgical tray, his eyes cold:
"Are you this kid's sister? Also from the orphanage? What a shame—you'll never see tomorrow's sunrise."
As he spoke, the corrupt doctor walked toward Olivia step by step.
Perhaps from his perspective, his actions and words were threatening enough to intimidate any ordinary child.
"You look barely of age. Perfect timing—you can contribute to great medical science."
With that, the corrupt doctor showed an evil smile.
Unfortunately, he had misjudged Olivia. From birth, she was destined to be anything but ordinary.
After watching enough of the corrupt doctor's self-entertaining performance, Olivia slapped him so hard he spun around four or five times.
"You? How dare you hit me?!"
The corrupt doctor still hadn't figured out the situation, still thinking he could handle Olivia.
Olivia didn't waste words with him. The second slap sent him straight to his death.
With the nuisance gone, Olivia finally had time to carefully check Lily's condition.
The girl on the operating table had weak breathing, with no visible signs of disease on her body.
Olivia looked around, saw the operating room was fully equipped, and immediately began a thorough physical examination of Lily.
Then she detected something slightly abnormal in Lily's brain.
An ordinary doctor might have missed this tiny abnormality, but Olivia, considering Lily's overall condition, immediately determined this was a mutated virus that was extremely good at disguising itself.
But this disguise was child's play in front of Olivia.
She immediately prepared a specific antidote for the virus and quickly injected it into Lily.
At the same time, the research facility had fallen into complete chaos, but the director, Benjamin, still found out about it.
He rushed over immediately and happened to see the entire process of Olivia injecting the medicine into the girl.
He demanded sternly:
"What are you doing?"
With that, he immediately ran over to check the girl's condition.
After seeing with his own eyes that the girl's breathing gradually stabilized and all the abnormalities in her body gradually disappeared, Benjamin looked at Olivia with astonishment.
"A medical miracle! This is simply a medical miracle!"
"Miss, may I ask what you just injected her with? This is very important to the medical field."
Olivia raised an eyebrow, thinking he was like that corrupt doctor, proud of experimenting on living people.
So Olivia deliberately gave the wrong answer:
"Glucose."
"Glucose? But that doesn't make sense, it doesn't follow science..."
Benjamin Martinez kept his brain working overtime thinking about the logic of glucose, while his mouth insisted on defending the medical knowledge he'd learned over many years.
Olivia ignored him. She had never been someone who started trouble.
She came here to do only two things.
Rescue Lily and destroy the gray industry chain.
Olivia picked up Lily, preparing to take her somewhere safe.
But Benjamin didn't want her to leave just like that.
"Wait, please wait. I really can't figure this out. How about this—I'll immediately arrange for this patient to get the best hospital room. Can you tell me more about how you prepared that medicine?"
Olivia sneered:
"Tell you how to make the medicine so you can harm more people?"
Benjamin froze, seeming not to understand what Olivia meant, still trying hard to make her stay.
Seeing that although he wasn't attacking her, he was very annoying, Olivia was about to deal with him when he pointed at her face and exclaimed:
"You, you, you! It's you! Oh my God, do you know I've been looking for you all along!
This is fate sent from heaven!"
Then, this white-haired old man in front of Olivia excitedly held up a photo of Olivia on his phone and issued a passionate invitation:
"I'm the dean of Washington University's School of Medicine. Olivia, I think very highly of you. You absolutely must come to the medical school!"
Benjamin hadn't expected that the girl all the university deans in Washington were competing for would be the first one he encountered.
This was all meant to be!
Benjamin even wanted to laugh out loud.
There were too many experts and deans wanting to recruit Olivia. In the end, everyone reached an agreement: no one would go to City A to bother her, letting Olivia make her own choice.
But the agreement didn't say anything about not recruiting her in Washington.
Thinking this way, Benjamin listed one attractive condition after another.
"In short, whether it's scholarships, various fees, additional expenses, or even housing—everything you need, I can provide for you."
But Olivia shook her head:
"I did apply to Washington University, but not to the medical school."
"That's okay, you can transfer majors."
"Even if I transfer, I won't choose medicine."
Benjamin felt like Olivia had stabbed him in the heart.
