Chapter 32 A Dilemma

Chapter 32 A Dilemma

The content on the legal document was simple.

Director Mary was Olivia's legal guardian, and until Olivia turned eighteen, she had to grow up under Mary's care.

Mary didn't just use the law to force Olivia into submission—she deliberately said to Lena:

"Ms. Brooks, I'm so sorry that Olivia's mistake has disrupted your meal. I'll take her away right now."

The only reason Mary could find them here was because Vivian had been pulling strings behind the scenes.

Last time, after she bribed Mary with money, she'd been waiting to watch Olivia fall into ruin. But not only did Olivia escape any punishment, she actually grew closer to Lena.

And she nearly exposed the fact that Vivian had stolen Olivia's painting in front of the Campbells.

This hung over Vivian's head like a knife, keeping her up at night.

This time, while out with friends, she happened to see Olivia and Lena eating at the restaurant, so she immediately contacted the director.

Vivian's plan was simple.

She wanted to use the orphanage director's legal guardianship status to keep Olivia locked up in the orphanage.

If Olivia hadn't recovered and was still the same dazed, foolish Olivia as before, Vivian's trick would have worked long ago.

Unfortunately, they had no idea that the Olivia standing before them now was the legendary top assassin, Organization X's most perfect experiment, the Nightingale that everyone in the underworld feared.

After reading the legal document, Olivia looked up with a cold expression and asked:

"You're my guardian. So what?"

Mary, who had been looking completely confident, got stuck for a moment, but she quickly recovered. She pulled out a handkerchief and dabbed at nonexistent tears while accusing Olivia of her "crimes."

"You're the child I picked up from a trash can on a snowy night. You were barely breathing—I gave you a chance at a new life.

I even gave you the opportunity to attend Alice Academy!

But not only are you ungrateful, you don't study hard either. At school, you think about dating and fighting, and when I tried to discipline you, you chose to run away from home to threaten me."

After hearing the director's words, everyone around glared angrily at Olivia. Only Lena stood up to speak for her.

"Don't twist the facts! Olivia wasn't dating or fighting. She's always been the one getting bullied at school."

But her voice was too weak to shake the crowd, who had already been swept up in the director's emotional performance.

Olivia patted her shoulder, then walked up to the director and said calmly:

"If that's what you call kindness, I think I've already paid it back in full."

With that, Olivia showed videos that the orphanage children had recorded of the director's two faces.

When donors were around, she was unusually loving to the children, even giving them new clothes and good food.

But when there were no donors, the playroom became a detention room, the new clothes and good food disappeared, and some children didn't even have shoes to wear.

Before the video finished playing, it sparked outrage.

"Oh my God, how can someone like this exist?"

"I'm a donor to the orphanage. I demand the director be replaced!"

Seeing that her goal was achieved, Olivia posted the video online—this was a unanimous decision by all the orphanage children.

Mary looked terrified, but even now she was still blaming Olivia:

"No, none of this is true. It's all because of you! Olivia, if it weren't for you, why would I do these things!"

But no one would believe her anymore.

The matter of replacing the orphanage leadership was quickly handled behind the scenes.

However, since Mary had managed the orphanage for over twenty years, she still needed to stay and wrap up some loose ends. She would leave after Olivia's SAT and ACT exams.

The new director would take office at the same time.

When Olivia and Mary returned to the orphanage, all the children came out to greet them.

They gave Olivia the warmest applause and cheers, while Mary only got eye rolls.

Olivia patted this child's head, then that one's, her expression pleased.

Tom was also moved to tears nearby.

Many children were trying to take credit with Olivia:

"Sister, sister, I secretly filmed that part where the director changed her expression!"

"I filmed the detention room part."

"I filmed the physical punishment!"

The group chattered excitedly, very happy, while Mary, who was about to leave the orphanage with her head down, had a vicious gleam flash in her eyes.

There were three days left until the SAT and ACT exams. She had to make sure Olivia had an unforgettable exam experience.

Thinking this, Mary put on a remorseful smile, wanting to blend back into the group, but was rejected again.

"Stop pretending. We've seen enough of your two faces. Now seeing you smile like that just makes us sick."

A little girl's innocent voice rang out, followed by waves of laughter.

Mary's smile froze on her face.

Three days later, the exam officially began.

Olivia was leaving from the orphanage because she and Tom were among the older children there and needed to watch Mary before she left, to prevent her from causing more trouble.

On the morning of her departure, Tom, sitting at the breakfast table, stretched and yawned:

"At least she has some conscience, knowing to leave everyone with some dignity before she goes."

Olivia looked at the table full of food and suddenly smiled coldly:

"Not necessarily!"

With that, she dumped all the uneaten food.

All the children looked confused:

"Sister, what's wrong? Today's your big exam day—how can you not eat breakfast?"

Olivia glanced coldly at Mary hiding behind the wall:

"She put laxatives in all this food. If we ate it, I really wouldn't be able to do well on the exam today."

Mary, who had been eagerly waiting for Olivia to eat the food, never expected Olivia to notice even this. She panicked a bit.

But she quickly calmed down and walked out confidently:

"What proof do you have that I did it!"

If Olivia stayed here arguing with her, she would naturally miss the important exam. But if she didn't stay, by the time Olivia finished the exam, Mary would be long gone and wouldn't fear any consequences.

She wanted to put Olivia in exactly this kind of dilemma!

Olivia clearly understood her thinking. She didn't respond to the provocation but instead made a phone call to the mayor.

"Mayor Scott, our former orphanage director wants to kill all of us to go down with her. Please handle this quickly."

After saying that, she went straight to the exam.

When Olivia arrived at the exam site, there was still half an hour before the test started.

And she was very lucky to be chosen as an interview subject by a media outlet.

"Excuse me, are you confident about this exam? What score do you think you'll get?"

Without hesitation, Olivia answered:

"Perfect score."

As soon as she spoke, quiet laughter came from the surrounding students.

A perfect score on both the SAT and ACT? Simply unprecedented!
