Chapter 108 Elena heart- POV

Chapter 108 Elena heart- POV
The air in the plaza turned frigid as Livia began her incantation. The crystalline key in her hand thrummed, sending jagged fractures of violet light shooting down the ivory pillars of the balcony and directly into the cobblestones below.

A low, subterranean groan rumbled through the earth—the ancient ley-lines of Drakmor bleeding their raw power up to her command.

The mercenaries around me fell back, terrified by the suffocating weight of her ancient mana.

I stood my ground at the center of the square, my broadsword planted in the earth, channeling every ounce of my royal lightning into a defensive dome to keep the remaining Black-Iron Ravens from being crushed by the sheer atmospheric pressure.

“Xavier, the seals under the city are buckling,” Elena’s voice hissed through the Celestial Tether, tighter now, strained by the ambient gravity Livia was warping. “I’m directly above her on the terrace roof. The moment I drop, she’s going to notice the flux in the ring.”

“Then don’t give her time to react,” I thought back, locking eyes with the dark mistress on the balcony. I forced a look of desperate, failing agony onto my face, dropping to one knee as if her pressure were breaking me. “I will draw her fire. Strike true, my ghost.”

Livia looked down at my kneeling form, a melodious, cruel laugh slipping past her lips.

"The blood of the Titans, reduced to kneeling in the mud," she mocked, her voice echoing over the screams of the city. "Your era is finished, little King."

As she raised the key to deliver the final strike, a shadow detached itself from the gilded roof above her.

The violet fractures in the cobblestones widened, bleeding a suffocating, ancient mana that tasted of copper and ash. I knelt at the center of the square, my broadsword trembling as if the weight of the entire capital were pressing down on my spine.

Through the Celestial Tether, I could feel Elena’s presence hovering directly above the balcony, a coiled spring of lethal intent. She was waiting for my signal to drop, her hand tightly gripping her obsidian daggers.

But as I looked up at Livia—at the sheer, unchecked arrogance in her violet eyes and the protective barrier of necrotic sorcery humming around her—I realized a direct assault was a trap.

If Elena dropped now, Livia would simply crush the Ley-Line Key out of spite, shattering the city's foundations and burying the rebellion forever.

We needed a distraction. We needed her completely, utterly blinded by her own triumph.

“Hold your strike, Elena,” I projected through the bond, forcing my mental voice to sound ragged, gasping. “Change of plans. Let her think she has me.”

“Xavier, what are you doing?” Her voice hissed back, a sharp spike of panicked adrenaline rippling through our connection.

“She’s a second away from tearing the grid apart! If you don't move, those shadow-guards will—_”

“Trust your King, my love,” I murmured, letting my defensive lightning dome flicker and die. “Just watch the key.”

I let out a harsh, guttural groan, dropping my sword onto the cobblestones. The iron clattered loudly against the stone. Instantly, four of Livia’s elite shadow-guards—hulking figures wrapped in shifting, smoky armor—lunged from the periphery.

They slammed heavy, cold-iron suppression chains across my shoulders, the cursed metal burning my skin and violently locking down my royal plasma.

They dragged me across the blood-slicked square, hoisting me up the grand marble staircase of the Merchant Guild and throwing me onto the gilded balcony at Livia’s feet.

"Xavier!" General Kaelen’s distant scream echoed from the plaza below, but the shadow-guards forced me onto my knees, jerking the heavy chains tight until my chest heaved.

Livia slowly lowered the glowing crystalline key, her incantation tapering off into a low, amused purr. She looked down at me, her midnight-silk robes brushing against my bound hands.

The ancient, suffocating pressure radiating from her was immense, but it was entirely eclipsed by her smug, catastrophic pride.

"And so, the last spark of the royal line crawls to my feet," Livia mocked, her voice a rich, terrifying melody that echoed across the silent plaza.

She reached down, her delicate, ice-cold fingers tilting my chin upward, forcing me to lock eyes with her.

"Your father was a tyrant, Xavier, but at least he had the dignity to die fighting for his throne. You? You threw away your crown for a pack of weavers and an assassin who abandoned you the moment the dark grew too deep."

I spat blood onto the polished marble of the balcony, a dangerous, mocking smirk pulling at the corner of my lips despite the searing agony of the suppression chains. "You talk too much for a maid, Livia."

Her violet eyes flashed with an ancient, venomous fury, her grip tightening on my jaw until the bone groaned.

"I am the architect of this empire, boy. I sat upon the black glass throne while your ancestors were still playing in the mud. Did you truly believe a broken King and a common thief could rewrite my system?"

Behind her, hidden within the heavy, dust-laden velvet curtains of the balcony doors just inches away, a shadow shifted.

Elena was there. Through the Celestial Tether, I could feel her heart hammering a frantic, erratic rhythm against her ribs.

Her soul was burning with a fierce, protective agony at the sight of me in chains, her fingers twitching over her sheathed blades.

The pining, the raw, unadulterated love, and the terrifying rage she was suppressing for my sake bled through the bond like liquid fire.

“Xavier... I swear to the gods, if you let her touch you again, I’m going to kill her twice,” her thoughts whispered into my mind, a breathless, lethal caress.

“Focus, Elena,” I thought back, keeping my gaze locked onto Livia’s face, absorbing her gloating tirade to keep her eyes entirely fixed on me. “She’s holding the key in her left hand. The barrier is down while she speaks to me. Now.”

Livia raised the crystalline key once more, pointing it toward my chest. "Let the Void take your lightning, Your Majesty. Drakmor belongs to—"

She never finished the sentence.

The velvet curtains didn't rustle; they exploded outward as Elena materialized from the dark. She didn't use her daggers. She didn't use a flashy Void-step. It was a pure, cinematic display of a master thief's absolute perfection.

Elena slid low across the marble floor, her movements a fluid extension of the shadows. Before Livia could even register the sudden flux in the air, Elena’s right hand shot upward.

The emerald ring flared a brilliant, blinding sea-foam green, casting a localized gravity field that froze Livia’s arm in mid-air for a fraction of a micro-second.

With a sharp, sassy twist of her wrist, Elena’s fingers laced through the loop of the crystalline key, snapping the silver chain holding it to Livia’s wrist.

"Sorry to interrupt the monologue, sweetheart," Elena’s voice rang out, dripping with pure, unadulterated venom as she flipped backward, landing gracefully on the balcony railing with the glowing Ley-Line Key spinning lazily around her finger.

"But the King’s schedule is booked. And frankly? Your villain speech needs a lot of work."

Livia’s face contorted into a mask of pure, unhinged shock as she looked at her empty hand, then up at the "exiled" assassin she thought she had successfully broken.

The illusion of her victory shattered in a single heartbeat. The final gambit had played out perfectly, and the Thief had just stolen the fate of the kingdom right out of the master's hand.
