Attracting Attention (Part 2)
They quickly arrived at the villa.
After parking in the garage, Ethan handed Tyler to Jack, who had just gotten out of the car.
He then ran into the villa with Sophia, while Jack carried Tyler in front and Alison carried Lyla behind.
Halfway there, Jack suddenly stopped. "Alison, go back to your room first. I forgot something in the car."
Ignoring him, Alison walked past him.
Jack watched her subtle expression, smiled slightly, and then turned and walked toward the car.
Tyler was snuggled up in his arms.
Jack leaned down and kissed the little boy's cheek.
As if remembering something, he kept his gaze fixed on the child's face.
Alison reached the bedroom door.
She decided to sleep with the two children, leaving Jack to sleep alone on the couch.
She pushed the door open and flipped the dual-control light switch.
A soft click broke the quiet.
Immediately, she froze, her eyes locking on the unexpected sight.
The sofa was gone, replaced by two cribs on either side of the bed. Their pale frames stood out sharply in the light.
The bed was twice as large as the previous one.
"Jack, get back to the bedroom right now!"
"Honey, what's up?"
"Did you replace the bed?"
"Yeah, I had it replaced. This way, you'll be more comfortable sleeping with Tyler and Lyla. You won't have to worry about rolling over and crushing them. There are also guardrails on both sides."
"The three of us are sleeping together?"
"Yeah."
She asked, "So where are you planning to sleep?"
"I'll sleep on the carpet or in the guest room."
Alison narrowed her eyes.
From the moment she conceived Lyla until now, they had never slept in a separate bed.
"No need. You can sleep in the bed." Alison gave a faint smile.
"Huh, okay." Jack put Tyler on the bed, then took Lyla from her arms and laid her next to Tyler.
"Alison, you've been working so hard lately. Come on, let's take a shower."
Before she could resist, he had already carried her toward the bathroom.
Their tall silhouettes were cast on the bedroom wall.
"Jack, do you have to work tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I'll be busy for a while." He glanced down at her.
The wrinkles at the corners of his eyes were slightly more pronounced, and he looked worn out.
Recalling how he stood her up tonight, she pouted, "You owe me a meal, you know."
"Okay, I'll keep that in mind. I'll definitely make it up to you later. I'll treat you and the kids to an even better feast than the one at the Maple Gold Crown Hotel," he said softly, his distinctive scent brushing against her cheek.
She snuggled into his embrace, closed her eyes, and let him carry her into the bathroom.
Only after he carried her into the bathroom and the warm water began to cascade down did she open her eyes.
The bathroom was shrouded in steam, warm and blurred at the edges.
He smelled only of fresh water, with no perfume scent typical of women, and that absence lingered in her mind.
Perhaps she was just overthinking it.
She gathered her thoughts, unwilling to dwell on these things any longer.
After stepping out of the shower with him, she felt much more at ease.
Looking at the large bed, she suddenly realized, "Hey, you deliberately said you were going to sleep on the carpet or in the guest room just so I'd do the opposite and let you sleep in the bed, didn't you?"
"No way," Jack said with a mischievous smile as he pulled Alison down onto the spacious bed.
His large hand wrapped tightly around her waist.
His other hand gently cupped the back of her head, drawing her face closer to his.
Their breaths brushed against each other, and the room grew still.
