Sorry
Pierre quickly returned with the food.
As soon as he placed it in the car, Alison grabbed it and devoured several sandwiches in one go.
Only then did she notice the three people beside her were all staring at her.
“Hey, why are you guys looking at me like that?” she asked, a bit dazed. “Do I eat that badly?”
“Alison, you have no manners at all when eating, no respect for elders.” Cassandra looked at her with disdain, adding sarcastically, “Such an ill-bred thing. Just like your mother. Wonder which wild man sired you.”
Matthew’s face instantly turned ashen.
One hand shot up, clamping around Cassandra’s throat as he roared, “Say that again?”
Cassandra froze, stunned by the sudden turn of events.
“Apologize. Now,” he commanded furiously.
“Why should I apologize?” Cassandra demanded.
“To Alison. She isn't... Never mind. You must apologize.”
“Ha! Matthew, have you lost your mind? Haven't you always hated her? I'll never apologize to Alison.” Cassandra declared stubbornly.
Matthew’s grip tightened suddenly, his voice as cold as ice.“Apologize.”
“O-okay...” Cassandra managed the words hoarsely.
She turned her head and forced out a few words. “Alison, I’m sorry.”
Her mind was filled with confusion.
Why did Matthew suddenly make me apologize to Alison?
Alison picked up a bottle of mineral water in front of her, drank a large gulp in one go, but ended up choking from drinking too quickly. After setting the bottle down, she coughed incessantly, even coughing up tears.
Matthew felt a flicker of emotion. He casually picked up a wet wipe and handed it to her, saying softly, “Be careful.”
...
It was nearly eight o'clock.
Cassandra stared intently out the window. Suddenly, she spotted the rose-red Volvo—Aidan's car.
“My son is here,” she said urgently.
"Follow her, Pierre. If she tries to escape, kill Lucia outright. Two lives for one—it'll be worth it.“ Matthew ordered cruelly.
”Understood," Pierre replied in a low voice, escorting Cassandra toward the hospital.
Alison sat beside Matthew, watching Cassandra's retreating figure.
“Whatever happened between you and my mother in the past, please spare her. Will you?” she pleaded.
“I'll see when I meet her,” he replied.
“If you spare my mother and Emily, I'll do anything you ask,” she added.
“Alison, don't worry. When I see your mother, I'll give you an answer,” Matthew said softly.
The hospital entrance bustled with people. Alison scanned the crowd casually, suddenly spotting a familiar figure.
Colton…
Beside him stood Erin, her belly visibly swollen.
Her eyes locked onto the two figures.
Unnoticed, Matthew had already stepped out of the car and opened Alison’s door.
“What are you doing?” she asked, startled.
"Get out of the car," Matthew said.
"Huh?" Alison looked at him in confusion.
"I'll go with you to meet Colton," Matthew said.
"Really?" Her eyes widened.
"Really? Get out."
As Alison stepped out of the car , her heart brimmed with joy. She ran straight toward Colton.
"Colton..." she whispered.
Colton looked at Alison and immediately let go of Erin's hand, rushing toward her. "Alison..."
"What brings you here?" He reached out and took her hand.
But Alison gently pulled away.
"Colton, it's so good to see you again," she said, smiling.
"Let's find a place to sit, Alison."
“No, Colton. Seeing you is enough. Go back now; don't keep Erin waiting.” Alison waved to Erin.
"I'll head over then. Let's grab coffee sometime.”
"Okay," she replied.
Colton turned to leave. But then he caught sight of Matthew.
Instantly, his eyes turned icy. He stormed up to Matthew, grabbed him by the collar, and roared, "Where's my money? A million dollars! Give it back! Now!"
