What Matters Is the Result
Watching Matthew raise the gun again and aim at another of her fingers, Cassandra was utterly terrified. "No, don't shoot again!"
"Tell me, where is Daphne?" Matthew demanded coldly, idly fiddling with the gun in his hand.
"Why are you looking for her? Don't you hate her?" Cassandra asked cautiously.
He paused briefly before replying, "Yes, I'd kill her if I could. Is she with Maxim now?"
"If you find her, what do you plan to do with her, Mr. Bruce?" Cassandra forced a faint smile, suppressing the pain in her fingers.
"What do you think would be the proper way to deal with her?" he countered.
"Why not send her a few men? Let her enjoy herself thoroughly." Cassandra's words stunned Alison.
"Hmph. That is indeed a solution. But first, I must find her." Matthew's face turned ashen.
"No! Don't treat her that way." Alison finally couldn't hold back.
"This is my business, Alison. You're just a hostage now. I could end your life with a single shot.” Matthew shifted the gun barrel slightly toward Alison's head.
Deep down, he harbored profound guilt toward her.
Twenty years passed. Does Daphne still hate me?
"Unless I die, I won't let you kill her," Alison declared firmly, meeting Matthew's gaze.
"Once I find Daphne, I'll do just as Cassandra suggested earlier and put you both out of your misery together," Matthew said.
Alison trembled slightly.
"I can tell you where Daphne is, but you must agree to one condition," Cassandra murmured with a faint smile.
“What?”
"Send me abroad and give me a sum of money. If you agree, I'll reveal Daphne's location."
"Fine, I agree. But tell me where Daphne is first.” He insisted.
"No, I'll tell you after I'm gone." Cassandra refused immediately.
Matthew considered it briefly before replying, "All right, I agree. But you must tell me where Daphne is before you board the ship.”
"No problem." Cassandra agreed. She turned to look at Alison and whispered, "Aidan truly cares for you. If anything happens to him, don't stand by and do nothing, okay? Alison."
"Do you still think your son is a child? Cassandra. He doesn't need that at all." Matthew burst out laughing.
"No, he needs someone to take care of him right now. If I leave, he might never be able to return to his position as YD's CEO," she said with a regretful expression.
"Can we get Aunt Cassandra on a boat right now? Matthew, I really need to know where my mother is," Alison pleaded.
"Pierre, contact our maritime operations lead. See if any vessels can depart within the next day or two,” Matthew ordered.
"Understood." Pierre grabbed his phone to make the call.
