The Glittering World (Part 2)

The Glittering World (Part 2)
"Hello, Miss Fairchild." Lucia's voice came from the other line.

"Hello." Alison responded politely.

"I'm so sorry to disturb you so late. Is Aidan with you?" Lucia asked.

Ignoring Aidan's warning glances, Alison said, "Yes, he's right across from me."

"Then please hand him the phone. I have something extremely important to discuss with him, okay?” Lucia's voice carried a hint of excitement.

Alison passed the phone to him, covering the receiver with her hand as she whispered, "Don't hang up just yet. Listen to what she has to say first.”

"Lucia, get to the point. I have urgent business to attend to.” Aidan took the phone with a grim expression.

"I'm pregnant, Aidan."

In that instant, his expression darkened further. He recalled the night Rock and Emily got engaged. Not only had that night resulted in Alison conceiving Jack's child, but Lucia was also carrying his own baby.

"I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow, Lucia." He forced his voice to remain steady.

"I already went today," Lucia replied hurriedly. "I had a full checkup. The baby is perfectly fine. So...”

Fearing Lucia had misunderstood him, he hastened to explain, "Lucia, I want to take you to the hospital because..."

"Aidan, there's really no need for more tests," Lucia cut him off, a hint of mischief in her smile.

"Lucia, it's too late now. Get some rest. I'll visit you tomorrow.”

"Okay. Goodnight.”

The call ended.

Aidan looked up awkwardly at Alison.

"Tell me what happened! What's wrong with YD? Who died?" Alison looked utterly confused. "Is Lucia okay? Why did she need to go to the hospital?

"Manager Foster was found dead in his office," Aidan said gravely.

"What? How?"

"It's likely murder, though it's not confirmed yet. I've notified the police. We'll have updates soon."

"it must be that person—the one who ordered her to take photos of me. She killed her."

"Probably. This time, no matter what, I'll track that person down. She's despicable." Aidan nodded.

"Aidan, I want to go to the company tomorrow."

"You're pregnant, Alison, you should stay at the family home for a while. So we won't have to worry about you. Okay?"

Hearing the mention of the baby, Alison asked, "Is Lucia okay?"

Aidan smiled faintly and replied in a light tone. "She's fine. Don't worry.”

"Lucia's a good girl. Don't break her heart," she urged.

"I know, Alison. Let's go. There are too many people here. I'm worried about your safety.” Aidan scanned his surroundings.

"Okay, let's go," Alison replied softly.

She silently slipped into the car, her thoughts drifting back to Jack.
Where are you? Jack, I miss you so much."

Aidan started the car and drove straight toward the ancestral home.

“Is it too late for us to come now?” Alison hesitated.

"Don't worry. I often come back this late."

"I'd like to stay in the same guest room I stayed in last time," she said. Although she still felt a flicker of fear when she recalled that night, she wanted to figure out where the voices had come from.

“No problem. I'll have the housekeeper arrange it for you as soon as we get inside," he agreed without a second thought.

Soon, the car pulled through the gates of the ancestral home, and Alison settled into the same room she had stayed in before.
