Chapter 332: Taking the Stage (Part 2)
“Sure, of course. I never lie. All you need to do is listen to me sing — or join in,” Alison said firmly.
“Okay, no problem!” Aidan agreed happily.
After the concert finished, Alison realized she had wasted her ticket — she hadn’t paid any attention to Rock’s performance.
As the audience streamed toward the exits, Gabriel and Emily were just ahead of her.
Following Alison’s gaze, Aidan instantly understood.
Stepping outside the theatre, Aidan lost all desire to sing.
“Alison, let me drive you home. It’s Sunday tomorrow, and you need to play with the kids,” he urged.
“But you promised to hear me sing. How about we go to Rebel? Please?” Alison pleaded.
“No, don’t…” he hesitated.
“What’s wrong with it? I used to sing at Rebel all the time. It’s my favourite place. Come on, Aidan. Take me there.” She insisted.
Finally, he gave in.
As they walked toward the parking lot, they spotted Gabriel riding away on his motorcycle with Emily, looking incredibly cool.
“Wow, that guy is so hot!” someone exclaimed.
“Yeah, so cool,” another chimed in.
“Silly girl, didn’t you see? The woman beside him is stunning. You have no chance,” someone sneered.
“Hey, watch your language. Don’t be so harsh,” the other retorted.
…
The voices faded into the distance.
“Alison, it’s too late. You should be back home.” Aidan pushed Alison into the car.
“Aidan, don’t you want to be with me? Did you see it? Were you laughing at me?” Her voice trembled, half-drunk with emotion.
Aidan was at a loss for words and could only drive her straight to Rebel.
Rebel was as lively and bustling as ever.
On stage, a glamorous singer in a short skirt was performing. Below, people swayed to the rhythm.
Alison bumped into Ryan the moment she walked in.
Her gaze fixed on him as she slapped his shoulder, greeting him like an old friend.
“Ryan, remember me?”
“Of course I do, Miss Fairchild. Welcome.” Ryan smiled back.
“Ryan, I’d like to sing a song. No need to pay me, okay?” she asked.
“Of course! I’d be lucky to have the chance to enjoy your singing.” He readily agreed.
“So I’ll go onstage for the next song?” she asked, her voice tinged with excitement.
“No problem at all.” Ryan snapped his fingers, and a waiter approached.
After whispering a few instructions, he turned to Alison.
“Miss Fairchild, do you need to change into a stage outfit?”
“Sure, but what if I didn’t bring one?” Alison hesitated.
“Don’t worry about that. Just head to the dressing room, and I’ll have someone bring it over shortly,” he assured her.
Alison headed to the dressing room.
“Aidan, how about just having a couple of drinks and leaving?” he suggested, feeling uneasy.
“Aidan, go sit over there. Order something to drink. Wait for my singing.” She insisted, pushing him away.
Aidan nodded, giving in.
Soon, Alison emerged in a backless dress. The top accentuated her figure and drew gazes instantly.
Her beloved old song echoed — her voice rose, clear and melodic.
Yet, Aidan frowned, bristling at the way other men’s eyes lingered on her thighs and chest.
Song after song, Alison continued singing without pause.
Time slipped away quietly amidst the music.
Finally, Aidan couldn’t hold back. He stood up and walked over to Ryan.
“Ryan, get her off the stage. She’s been singing for hours. Her voice is already hoarse.”
“I tried, but she insists on singing,” Ryan replied.
Aidan went straight backstage to find her.
After she finished a song and came down to touch up her makeup, he approached her.
“Alison, your voice is gone. Let’s go home. It’ll be dawn,” he persuaded.
“Is it almost dawn?” she asked.
“Yes.” He nodded.
“All right. One more song, and then we’ll go,” she said.
