Chapter 320: Coincidence

Chapter 320: Coincidence
Alison had been sitting there for a while, but Mia hadn’t given her any task.

Finally, she asked Mia, “Has the president arrived yet?”

“He finished handling matters at the hospital and is on his way now,” Mia replied.

“What happened? Did the old lady fall ill again?” she asked.

“Not exactly. I’m not sure. The President was taken away by police cars. First he went to the hospital, and now he’s on his way back,” Mia explained.

“Oh.”
Alison was baffled.
Was he injured in a car accident?

Feeling uneasy, she dialed Aidan.

“Mia said you went to the hospital. Are you OK, Mr. Winston?”

“Stay in the office and wait for me. Don’t go anywhere!” he yelled, driving at top speed.

Over the past two days, she and Gabriel had infuriated him twice — the first time was when Gabriel kissed her.
The second time was after the fight, Gabriel said provocatively, “Aidan, I don’t think you’ll fire me. Or it would prove that you’re a loser, afraid of me appearing in Alison’s world.”

His words made it impossible for Aidan to fire him.

After giving their statements, the two walked out of the hospital.

Aidan drove his Volvo, and Gabriel rode his motorcycle as they headed toward the YD Building one after the other.

Women on the street kept glancing at Gabriel, their eyes filled with undisguised infatuation.

Aidan frowned.

Alison, standing by the window, spotted the motorcycle down below.
She watched the direction he came from, her brows furrowing slightly, until he vanished from sight.

Just then, the office door swung open.

Aidan stormed in.

“Alison, come to my office!”
He didn’t even glance at her before barking the order.

Mia froze.
This was the first time she had ever seen the CEO so out of control.

Alison was baffled. Still, she obediently followed him into his office.

He pulled out a chair, sank into it, and picked up the internal phone.
“Mia, two coffees. No sugar.”

“Yes, sir.”

After hanging up, he looked up at Alison.

“Sit down.” He gestured to the chair opposite him.

When Alison saw his face, she froze.

“Aidan, your right cheek looks a bit swollen. And …”

Before she could finish, Aidan cut her off.
“Are you concerned about me?”

“Aidan, what happened? Wasn’t it a car accident?”

“No.”

“Then what happened? Why did you go to the hospital and give a statement?”
She was genuinely worried, thinking that Gabriel had arrived just as he got back.

“You really want to know?” he asked.

Just then, the office door rattled.

“Come in,” Aidan said.

It was Mia delivering coffee.

After she left, Alison pressed, “Yes, I want to know. How did the fight start?”

“Some guy was following Lucia. I went to help her. Then I ended up fighting someone.”
He made up the story on the spot.
He and Gabriel had already coordinated their stories — neither would tell Alison the truth about the fight.

“Really? That’s all?”

“Yeah, really.”

“Glad you’re OK, Aidan. I’m off to work.”
Alison stuck out her tongue.

“Wait, Alison. Let’s grab lunch together,” he protested.

“Mr. Winston, I already made plans with Mia to eat in the cafeteria. Sorry.”
She objected.

“OK, then how about tomorrow?”
He pressed.

Alison was speechless.

“All right,” she conceded.
“We’ll have lunch together tomorrow.”

“OK!”
Aidan smiled.

As Alison stepped out of his office, her phone buzzed with a text message — it was from Gabriel.

[Meet me on the rooftop at noon.]

She glanced back at Aidan’s office.

What’s going on with these two men?
Why are they both trying to meet me at the same time?

No. I can’t accept his invitation.

First, she texted Mia.

[Let’s grab a bite at the cafeteria together today.]

After sending the message, she felt uneasy.

Mia replied,

[Sure, let’s go right after work. That way, we can get the good dishes.]

She smiled, but still felt uneasy.

When she returned to her desk, Mia hadn’t assigned her any work for the day.

Yesterday she was swamped, but today she had nothing to do.

It must be Aidan’s doing.

Fine, it’s OK.

Suddenly, she saw the email notification — the life-changing email address.

Her heart sank as she typed in her username and password.

Two unread emails sat in her inbox — the first had been sent a month ago, the second just minutes ago.

The sender’s name made her pulse spike, and the image of that skull flashed through her mind.

Her hands trembled as she opened the first one.

Inside were photos of her from the past, reminding her that they still existed.

She hurriedly closed the email and glanced behind her at Mia.

Thankfully, they were facing away from each other.
