Chapter 276: Everything He Owns

Chapter 276: Everything He Owns
Pierre said, “I’ve heard your name before, but I just can’t place it.”
“Think harder. Where could it be?” Alison said.

Pierre appeared deep in thought but soon declared, “I remember now! My sister mentioned your name to me.”
“Your sister? She knows me?” Alison’s mind raced.
Pierre Bruce… could he really be Emily’s brother?

“I’m not sure. Do you know another reason why I’m curious about you?”
“What? Tell me!”
“Your expression—that utterly focused look while writing in the snow. But what truly amazed me was how similar you look to my sister. For a moment, I thought you were her. But I’d just spoken to her on the phone before meeting you.”
“Your sister’s name is Emily, right?”
“Huh, you know her too? Have you actually met her?”

The fragments flashed rapidly through Alison’s mind. She had never expected to run into Emily’s brother—Pierre.
“I’ve only heard about her,” she said.

“People told me there’s a woman named Emily who looks a lot like me. I never imagined she was your sister.”

“But Pierre, have you ever wondered if maybe we’re related?”

“Haha! You want to be my sister?” Pierre burst out laughing.
“I’d never be your sister.”
“You couldn’t be anyway. Emily isn’t my real sister. My father liked her, so he kept her around—like family.”
“She’s getting married, right?”
“Yeah, she’s getting engaged in a few days. I’ll be heading back home for it. Honestly, it’s been ages since I last went back.”

Hearing this, Alison’s heart fluttered uneasily.
What would Jack think if he knew Emily was getting engaged?

Her thoughts drifted hazily until the car suddenly screeched to a halt.
“Pierre, what are you doing?”
“Nothing. I’m just getting the first-aid kit for you.”
“First-aid kit?” She looked confused.
“Stick out your wrist. Quickly!” he barked, his tone sharp but his expression conflicted.

At first, he’d only wanted to take advantage of this woman. Now, though, he wanted more than just her body. He found her… fascinating.

Alison extended her arm.
Now she desperately wanted to engage with him because it might be a shortcut to uncovering everything.
Jack, I’ll avenge you.

“Doesn’t it hurt?” Pierre asked, staring at the swollen spot, a flicker of guilt in his eyes.
His hand suddenly tightened around her wrist.

“Ah…” She cried out in pain.
“Finally feeling it? I thought you were made of iron.” Pierre grinned. He poured some liquid into his palm and pressed it against her skin. “Hold still. It’ll sting, but it helps the swelling go down.”
“Okay.” She gritted her teeth.

His movements were confident—too confident. It told Alison he’d done this many times before.

The alcohol seeped slowly into her skin.
When he finally released her, Pierre tossed the kit back into the glove compartment.
As it slid open, Alison caught a glimpse of a gun and a dagger gleaming inside.

The car soon merged onto a bustling Paris street.

Pierre pulled her out and headed straight for a restaurant. Alison looked up and saw the tall neon sign flashing overhead.
“Afraid of spicy food?” Pierre asked, catching her hesitation with a smile.
“Not at all.”
“Good.” His fingers tightened around her waist as if to claim her.

“Mr. Bruce, long time no see,” a man greeted warmly the moment he spotted him, his gaze flicking to Alison. “And this lady is…?”
