Chapter 251: Pregnancy

Chapter 251: Pregnancy
“It’s fine,” Aidan said with a smile. “The doctor said I can be discharged in three to five days.”

“Really?” Alison asked, surprised.

“Of course. Let me walk you to the entrance — I want to breathe some fresh air.”

“No, don’t. Your leg isn’t healed yet,” she objected.

“It’s okay,” he insisted. “I’ll have the nurse wheel me out. I just want to see the night lights.”

“All right then, I’ll go with you,” Alison said, giving in.

As she pushed Aidan’s wheelchair down the hall, the neon lights flickered faintly against the polished floor.

“Alison, you should spend more time with the kids. Don’t worry about me — I’ll be fine,” Aidan said softly.

“I’ll come back first thing tomorrow morning. Promise me you’ll rest,” she replied.

She stepped outside, hailed a taxi, and gave the driver her apartment address.

As the taxi pulled away, she instinctively turned to glance back — and froze. Another car had just stopped, and a couple stepped out. Something about the woman’s silhouette made Alison’s pulse spike.

My God… she looks exactly like me.

Is this an illusion?

Alison bit her lip hard — the pain told her it wasn’t.

“Sir, please stop the car — now!” she shouted urgently.

“Ma’am, I can’t stop here, it’s a restricted lane. I’ll get fined,” the driver protested.

“I’ll pay it! Just stop!” Alison insisted, eyes locked on the couple.

“But—” the driver hesitated.

“Stop the car!” she yelled again, her tone sharp with panic.

“Then give me the money upfront,” he said.

She yanked a wad of cash from her purse and thrust it forward. “Here — take it! Just stop!”

Only then did he pull over to the curb, letting her out.

Alison jumped out and sprinted toward them.

“Stop!” she shouted, breathless.

The woman turned her head. Under the streetlight, her long hair shimmered as it swayed; a silk strap dress clung to her slender frame. From the shadow where Alison stood, the woman didn’t seem to recognize her.

After a single glance, the woman turned away and slipped down a side street, vanishing into the dark.

Alison ran after her, heart pounding — but when she reached the intersection, there was no one.

She kept running anyway, desperate.

Then her foot caught on a loose stone — she pitched forward, crashing hard onto the pavement.

“Miss, are you all right?” a passerby rushed over.

“Help me…” Alison gasped.

“Do you need me to call someone?” the man asked, crouching beside her.

“No — help me! Help me chase her — a woman who looks exactly like me!” Alison pleaded.

“Where? On this street?”

“Yes, she was right here.”

“There’s no one here, miss,” he said, glancing around.

“No, she must’ve ducked into one of the shops!” Alison insisted, scanning the dim storefronts.

“She’s lost it,” someone muttered nearby.

“Yeah, totally,” another whispered.

The small crowd drifted away, unwilling to get involved.

Alison turned to a young man passing by. “Sir, please — help me! She looks just like me!”

He glanced at her once, then walked away.

Then a sudden stabbing pain ripped through her lower abdomen. Panic surged. She reached down — her fingers came away wet. Blood.

My baby… Her heart clenched in terror.

She stumbled to her feet, waving frantically for a taxi — but the road was empty, silent, far from the main street.

She gritted her teeth and dialed Jack’s number. No answer. She called again. Still nothing. It was as if he’d vanished.

The pain sharpened, twisting deep inside her.

Hands shaking, she finally called Aidan.

“Alison? You’re home already? That was quick,” he answered at once.

“Aidan—call an ambulance!” she cried. “I fell—at the intersection on XX Street!” She didn’t dare move, terrified every breath might endanger the tiny life inside her.
