Chapter 194: A Man’s Frustration
Jack’s sudden pull startled Alison.
Before she could protest, his lips crashed onto hers.
Under the blue sky, blooming flowers and swaying trees surrounded their embrace.
Panic surged through her as she pushed Jack away frantically, whimpering his name, begging him to stop.
His arms held her tight, ignoring her struggle.
The kiss continued as he lifted her slender chin.
Holding her close brought him an unprecedented sense of security.
The past month had felt like an eternity, consumed by a maddening longing for her.
Yet she had hidden herself so deeply.
He kissed her fiercely, venting. He poured his breath into her mouth, staining her lips with his heat, branding her with his scent. He left his mark — proof of his love for her.
After their brief separation, their love had grown even more intense.
Alison pushed and twisted, then at last froze in his hold.
Her lips responded to his kiss instinctively.
He sucked her lips with such force that a sharp sting spread across them.
Yet, in that moment, her heart started to sway.
I must have misunderstood him before.
The one who kissed Aimée in the hospital wasn’t the real him.
Thinking this, she was relieved.
However, she had to stop this kiss. Sophia is waiting. I must save her.
Alison closed her eyes tightly and bit down hard on Jack’s lips.
Caught off guard, Jack pulled away, crying out in pain, “Alison, you—”
She slapped him hard across the face.
She had to make him give up and marry Aimée. Only then could Sophia come back.
The slap stunned Jack into silence.
His mouth hung slightly open, freezing.
A trickle of blood fell from his lip onto the lawn. It stained the emerald green grass a sinister crimson.
He was full of confusion. “Alison, why? Why did you hit me?”
Staring at the red mark on his cheek and the startling splash of blood, Alison trembled.
“Jack, you bullied me!” she shouted angrily.
“No… no, Alison, I didn’t.” He stared at her blankly.
“No? Then why did you kiss me? You’re insulting me!”
Her words sent him into a panic. He grabbed her trembling hand.
“Alison, I didn’t bully you! I kissed you because I love you. This is love, not an insult. Do you understand?” he growled, trying to snap her out of it.
The crowd began to gather around them.
Jack felt frustrated. He had finally mustered the courage to kiss her, but was stopped by Alison’s slap.
“Alison, let’s get out of here. We can talk somewhere else.” He wanted to escape the crowd.
Alison yanked her hand away. “Jack, you stay right here. Why should I go with you? I won’t go with you.”
“Alison, you like me. That’s why you should come with me.” He persisted, though doubt gnawed at him.
Her mind in turmoil, she shouted, “Stop it! I don’t like you. Not even a little bit. I like Aidan.”
“Alison, you’re lying. You don’t like him, but me! Please tell me you’re lying!” He cried, a raging storm inside.
“I’m sorry, I’m not lying. If you prefer lies, then leave now.” She answered coldly, forcing herself to sound convincing.
