Chapter 106: It Was His Baby

Chapter 106 It Really Is His

The weight on Alison's heart finally lifted; as long as the child was okay, she could breathe easy. "Aidan, let's go," she said. Jack didn't want to see her, and she didn't want to impose. As long as the child was safe, she was fine. From now on, she planned to stay far away from Aimée, who seemed to harbor a lot of hostility towards her. The look Aimée gave her when she came out of the operating room was filled with deep hatred.

Yes, hatred.

But Alison had never done anything to wrong Aimée.

As it turned out, Alison ended up in the hospital too, right next to Aimée's room. Her leg was badly injured, fractured. Aimée was in the next room on bed rest to protect her pregnancy. What a disaster. What was supposed to be a relaxing camping trip had turned into this. Camping, tents, cookouts—those would only be memories now.

"Alison, tomorrow Jack and I will help you transfer to a better hospital. Rest up for a few days, and your leg will be fine," Aidan said, worried about Alison's constant gloominess.

He still wasn't sure if the woman was really Aimée. Aimée now only smelled of antiseptic and medicine. He had never paid attention to such details before and wasn't interested in Aimée, so he couldn't remember what perfume she used to wear.

Everything would be revealed once Aimée was discharged.

He just hoped that if the child was his, it would be safe.

Transferring from the small hospital to a major one in the city, Alison and Aimée still ended up in adjacent rooms. Jack and Aidan went back to work but visited daily. Aidan checked on both patients, while Jack only cared about Aimée, completely ignoring Alison's leg.

Three days in the hospital, and she had lied to her kids, saying she was on a business trip after camping. She missed them terribly. They must be missing her too.

She wheeled herself to the window, looking at the lush, beautiful flowers outside, but they couldn't fill the void in her heart.

Just then, a white Lamborghini pulled up at the hospital entrance. Alison stared blankly in that direction. It was Jack's car.

After parking, Jack got out, accompanied by someone else.

Isabella had rushed from Paris to the hospital. Aimée and she had been hospitalized for four or five days. Considering the efficiency of the Winston family and Isabella's prior plans to visit due to Aimée's pregnancy, her quick arrival was expected.

Alison shrank back in her wheelchair, feeling a bit panicked. She had been avoiding Aimée, feeling that Aimée's actions were deliberate, but also feeling guilty for thinking that way.

Footsteps echoed in the hallway—it was Isabella and Jack. Alison instinctively looked through the door crack and saw them.

She wheeled herself back to bed, always wanting to leave the hospital, disliking the atmosphere, but stayed because Aimée was next door.

Leaning against the soft pillow, she closed her eyes, trying to clear her mind, but thoughts kept flooding in, filling her with endless sorrow. Tears silently fell.

When she gave birth to Sophia and Ethan, only Laura was by her side. Jack knew nothing, but she still had his children. If he found out, what would his reaction be? He had once said he didn't like kids.

A breath of fresh air blew into the room as someone entered. Without opening her eyes, Alison softly said, "Aidan, you can go. I want to be alone."

But as soon as she spoke, a faint scent wafted over, and a woman's presence filled the room. Opening her eyes, she was slapped again, this time by Jack's mother, Isabella.

"What are you up to? Why did you harm Aimée? If anything happens to her child, I won't forgive you, even in death!" Isabella's words cut like a knife.

Feeling the sting on her face, Alison just smiled faintly, saying nothing. She knew there was no point in explaining.

Isabella wouldn't believe her anyway; she only trusted her son and Aimée.

"Why are you smiling?" Isabella asked, puzzled by Alison's reaction. This woman, who looked exactly like Alison, had caused her son to lose the chairman's trust.

Now, this woman wanted to take away her grandchild. She wouldn't allow it. She had to protect Aimée and her future grandchild.

Alison could only smile. She couldn't argue or fight back. What good would it do? She couldn't change her standing in Isabella's eyes. She thought of Sophia and Ethan. If Isabella knew they were her grandchildren, would she accept them?

"Nothing, I just think smiling is the polite thing to do. Is there anything else, Isabella?"

"You haven't answered why you harmed Aimée!" Isabella's anger grew at Alison's calm demeanor. Alison's composure made her uncomfortable. This woman, though not as straightforward as Emily, had a gentle charm that seemed to soften people unknowingly.

No, she couldn't let this woman harm her son and her ideal daughter-in-law.

"Believe it or not, I didn't harm her. Maybe she doesn't want this child," Alison said lightly, hoping Isabella would tell Aimée this. That way, to avoid suspicion, Aimée might not harm her own child.

"You're lying! Alison, don't show your face to me. Stay away from Jack and Aimée!"

"Isabella, first of all, you walked into my room. Secondly, from now on, keep your son and Aimée away from me." She would tell Aidan that she wouldn't be involved in anything related to Jack anymore.

Once she found that person, she would leave YD, leave the Winston family, and live quietly with her two children.

"You... you're really too much."

Aimée was too much, dragging Alison down, causing her leg to be in a cast, and then accusing Alison of harming her child.

Some people could turn black into white, making the world chaotic.

Alison ignored Isabella's accusations, believing that time would prove everything.

While Isabella confronted Alison, Aimée's mother entered Aimée's room.

Aidan, carrying two baskets of fruit, planned to visit Alison and Aimée. Looking at the baskets, he decided to see Aimée first, then spend time with Alison. But as he was about to knock on Aimée's door, he overheard their conversation.

Aimée's mother asked, "Isabella went to see that woman. Tell me, what's going on? Why did you go camping while pregnant? How could you be so careless?"

Aimée replied, "Mom, I don't want this child. You have to help me."

Her mother, shocked, asked, "What? What did you say?"

Aimée repeated, "I don't want this child."

Her mother, confused, asked, "Are you crazy? Without this child, Jack might not marry you."

Aimée insisted, "Mom, I really can't have this child."

Her mother, puzzled, asked, "Why?"

Aimée glanced towards the door (not seeing Aidan outside) and said, "Mom, this child isn't Jack's."

The room fell silent.

Aimée's mother stared at her, stunned, before asking, "Say that again."

Aimée repeated, "The child isn't Jack's."

Her mother, anxious, asked, "Then whose is it?" Her body trembled slightly.

Aimée answered, "It's Aidan's."

Aidan, holding the fruit baskets, struggled to stay upright. He almost dropped the baskets.

He couldn't help but say, "Aimée, how could you be so foolish?"

Aimée replied, "Mom, I can't explain everything now, but I can't have this child."

Her mother firmly said, "No, Aimée, you have to keep this child. Only then will Jack marry you. Once you're married, you can decide what to do with the child." She glanced around, feeling sorry for her daughter who had waited five years for Jack.
