Chapter 31
"Michael, let's go. Don't waste time on this trash."
Hearing my words, Michael glanced at John lying on the ground in a pathetic state, then pulled out his wallet from his pocket and tossed a stack of cash onto him.
"Medical expenses. If it's not enough, come find me at the Johnson Group."
This move was a total humiliation for John.
After the bills landed on his face, John cursed angrily. "Michael, who the hell do you think you are? Who doesn't have money? I'm never giving Nancy to you, just you wait."
But his words didn't affect us at all.
Michael and I left hand in hand.
After beating up John, I was in such a good mood that I couldn't help humming a tune on the walk back to find the car.
But Michael wasn't as happy as I'd imagined.
Noticing his unusual mood, I deliberately used a joking tone. "What's wrong? Is John's appearance making you feel threatened?"
Michael didn't say anything, but his hand holding mine unconsciously tightened.
His action gave me the answer.
I thought I'd given Michael enough security during this time, but now it seemed it still wasn't enough.
"Nancy, do you feel happier being with him or with me?"
A few seconds later, Michael couldn't help but speak up, asking the question that bothered him.
I understood that Michael was jealous of my past with John.
Looking at him, I couldn't help but laugh softly and took the initiative to explain. "Of course I'm happy being with you. John and I have nothing to do with each other anymore, not before and not in the future."
Some things are better said clearly now.
To prevent them from becoming a barrier between us later.
Seeing my firm attitude, Michael's eyes showed some emotion, but his words still carried a hint of jealousy. "You won't in the future, but that doesn't mean he won't."
Just then, Michael and I reached the car.
I firmly told him again. "Michael, I can't control what he does, but I can promise you that I'm loyal only to you, both physically and mentally."
I thought explaining clearly would be enough.
But unexpectedly, Michael was pettier than I imagined.
Even after I repeatedly assured him, he still wrapped his arms around me from behind and forcefully shut the car door.
Surprised by his action, I was caught off guard as he pressed me against the car door.
When our eyes met, I noticed Michael's eyes were bloodshot.
I reached up to touch his face, my gaze becoming even more determined. "I love you."
These words seemed to suddenly flip a switch in Michael. He cupped my face and kissed me, pressing me against the car door.
His high-bridged nose brushed against my face, and I could even feel his soft eyelashes trembling.
I actively extended my tongue, licking every part of his mouth bit by bit.
He gently bit my tongue, forcing me to intertwine with him.
Our wet tongues stirred together, and the sound of exchanging saliva was clearly audible, especially distinct at this moment.
"Michael..." I called his name softly between kisses.
Michael's body stiffened slightly. He quickly gripped my waist and kissed me again, fast and hard.
I didn't know if he liked hearing me call his name or if it was because of John.
He kissed too hard, making my head feel dizzy from lack of oxygen.
Half my body leaned against the car door, both hands resting on his chest.
I felt Michael's burning breath and understood that John was like a thorn in his heart.
"Nancy, will you really belong only to me?" Michael's even breathing sprayed on my skin as he asked in a hoarse voice.
I carefully cupped his face, not answering directly but responding with a deep kiss.
When the kiss ended, I threw myself into his arms, listening to his heartbeat and answering firmly. "No matter when, I only belong to you. This is beyond doubt, and please believe me."
After giving a definite answer, Michael let out a heavy breath, as if a weight had finally been lifted from his heart.
He opened the car door for me and drove me home.
After a busy day, I felt exhausted.
When I got home, I took a bath to relieve my fatigue.
But unexpectedly, when I came out of the bathroom, I found dozens of missed calls.
All from my mom.
I immediately became worried, afraid something had happened to her, and quickly called back.
But when the call connected, my mom didn't say what it was about.
My mom spoke in a serious tone, extremely solemn. "Nancy, come home right now. I need to talk to you."
I instinctively glanced at the time and asked. "Mom, it's so late. What's going on?"
I really couldn't think of what important matter could make my mom summon me home so late at night.
But even when I pressed her, my mom wouldn't budge, only demanding firmly. "Nancy, if you still consider me your mother, come back now."
Hearing this, I could only agree. "Mom, I'll be right there."
I felt confused but couldn't think too much about it. I grabbed a jacket and rushed to the Smith Villa.
Just as I reached the front door, I noticed Michael's car was also parked there, and my heart sank.
My mom calling him too meant this concerned both of us.
But Michael and I were in our honeymoon phase recently, and our wedding date was set.
I really couldn't think of what could make my mom mobilize us both like this.
As soon as I entered the courtyard, I found Michael waiting for me.
"Nancy, let's go. Whatever happens, I'm here." Michael's face was serious, but he still took my hand to reassure me.
With Michael by my side, I gradually felt more at ease and went in with him.
Before we even opened the door, Ella's voice came from inside, her words carrying an instigating tone. "Auntie, don't be angry with Nancy. When Nancy comes back, you'll know. She's probably just being bullied by Michael and doesn't dare say anything. You must talk to Nancy properly later."
Hearing such ambiguous words, my brows furrowed and my expression became serious.
How could I be blamed before I even arrived?
Not to mention, I still didn't understand what was going on from start to finish.
Michael's face beside me didn't look good either.
My mom sighed with some guilt, saying, "I've been paying too little attention to Nancy."
Ella didn't expect my mom to say this and became a bit anxious, continuing to stir things up. "Auntie, this is still Nancy's fault. If she had just..."
Seeing Ella like this reminded me of her deliberate provocation in my past life.
I directly opened the door and walked in, holding Michael's hand tightly.
Not giving Ella a chance to speak,
"Ella, what are you saying behind my back again? If you're talking about me, why not say it to my face so I can hear whether it's true or false."
