Chapter 59 - The Tycoon Alpha's Temptation
ALPHA KING JOSH’S POV
“You have to let her go for me to examine her, My King…”
Tamira’s voice did reach my ears but I couldn't bring myself to comprehend her or react to her presence. I was the one that requested for a healer and the daughter of the very best healer was here to check on Rose… Rose’s lifeless body.
Yet, my mind, soul, and senses were focused on hearing or perceiving the sound of her heart beating for me.
I needed her to breathe for me.
“My King–”
“Alpha King Josh!”
Both Tamira and Adam who just barged into my room called for me at the same time. This time, I looked up at Adam’s worried face. I felt myself losing my mind and control as tears threatened to spill.
Alpha Kings shouldn't cry.
I would never cry even if I lose an important business deal. I would never cry even if one of my brothers was to be in Rose’s shoes. Did I even shed a tear when my father died? I couldn't remember but I could undoubtedly feel a bite growing in my throat at the moment. Growing painfully because of Rose.
I whimpered, “She is not breathing, Adam…”
My Beta knew how much I cared about Rose. In fact, he knew I loved her.
“Alpha King…” Adam etched with pity in his voice.
I cut in with a shaky voice, “She is dead. I pushed her to her death.”
That wasn't a lie. I killed my Rose. I made her walk on the chilly path of death just so I could hear the truth from her. This was all my fault… my fault...
Tamira’s voice countered my statement. She corrected, “She hasn't been pronounced dead, My King. Please let me observe her vitals and–”
“If she isn't dead, why won’t she breathe!” I yelled anguishingly. Tamira became silent unable to give an answer to my question.
“Why has her heart stopped and why is she so cold in my arms if she isn't dead?” I muttered, still on the floor of my room; where I had been since Rose’s last words hit my eardrums. “I have killed her.”
Adam crouched beside me, saying, “I know this is scary, Alpha King Josh but Rose needs you to help her live and only Tamira can help us right now.”
“You don’t understand, Adam. None of you can understand…” I whimpered, fighting back the hot tears that had clouded my sight.
I was being an emotional b*tch but I would be anything for Rose.
Anything for her.
“I understand that you love her and have chosen her as the woman who holds your royal heart, My King which is why you should let her go so Tamira can do her work.” Adam beseeched me.
He was making sense.
However, I couldn't get myself to move. I couldn't get myself off the ground. My hands were frozen on Rose’s body as well.
“Holding on to her when she needs help would kill her. I can barely smell life on her, My King.” Tamira voiced and I felt a shimmer of hope settling within me. “You can’t let her lose the little flame of life.”
“She is lying… Rose isn’t alive. She is dead.” Max confirmed in my head.
Nothing in the world could stop the painful howl that pushed its way out of my mouth from the base of my constricting heart.
My wolf beast whimpered like a broken puppy somewhere in my mind and my hands clutched Rose’s body tighter.
I was aware that I killed her but I was also overly conscious of the man that did this to her– Alpha Richard.
He wouldn't live to see the next sunrise.
I would make sure of that.
“Forgive me, My King.” Tamira apologized and I initially assumed that she was finally announcing Rose’s death. My soul shattered even though Tamira added, “I have to do this. Forgive me.”
Before I could comprehend her real intention or get my eyes off Rose’s pale face, I felt the compelling force of Tamira’s healing aura. She uttered some words and my eyes became drowsy.
She asked to be forgiven because she was putting me to sleep when she had no right to treat me. That was Judy’s responsibility. Tamira had no right…
But she did put me to sleep.
My eyes closed like they had a mind of their own and my mind shut down, sending me into an eternal darkness… a place where Rose wasn't.
A big garden without My Rose…. In fact, there were no more roses in the world.
The last one was dead and I held on to her as my consciousness faded into nothingness.
******************
“What do we do, Tamira?” Adam’s voice was the first sound that my brain registered as I was pushed back into consciousness.
Or did I break out of nothingness on my own?
Tamira’s voice came second, sounding serene as ever. She voiced, “We have to wait and see. It all depends on her and the goddess will.”
That didn't sound good. That sounded like death was certain. I might have thought of that before Tamira put me to sleep but hearing her speak like that scared me even more. I shouldn't be showing my weakness to anyone but how do I not do that when my weakness was practically dead?
“We can’t say that to the Alpha King, Tamira. We need to give him hope.” Adam hissed.
The eerie silence that came after Adam’s words made me sink into misery. I tried to hide the fact that I was awake and also tried to perceive Rose or hear her heartbeat but nothing of such came to me.
Max was awfully quiet as the future remained unknown.
Adam asked like he could hear my thoughts, “What is the probability that she will wake up?”
It took Tamira longer than I could bare to answer. “I don’t know.”
“You can’t give a number?” Adam pushed, which I knew was because of me.
After all, he didn't care about Rose. I wondered if he would be this concerned when he finds out that Rose was placed in my home by Alpha Richard for malicious reasons.
Tamira eventually replied, saying, “I can’t. Her fate depends on the moon goddess. After all, all oaths are approved or disapproved by the Goddess not us.”
If I knew anything about fate and the Moon Goddess, it will be that she had never done anything in my favor. My mom died and the blame was put on me. I was thrown into a complicated family and lived life like an emotionless creature when all I needed was love.
And when I finally found love, it was clear to me that I had lost it.
Love was sacred but so was oath. Which would the Moon Goddess validate? Would it be Alpha Richard's oath or My sacred love?
“Please approve my love, Moon Goddess…”
I pleaded in my mind and willingly fell into nothingness…
Seemed like Alpha Richard would be seeing the next sunrise after all.
If failure was a person, that person would be me… hopefully, the moon goddess wouldn't fail to hear my plea.
