Chapter 41 - The Tycoon Alpha's Temptation

ALPHA KING JOSH’S POV

All eyes were on her.

Everyone was waiting for her to say the words in response to Adam’s question but she took her time, making us wait even more.

Coincidentally, her eyes cut to mine and she immediately glared at me before detaching her eyes from mine. She was mad at me but I was quite excited.

Max lamented, “She is never going to forgive you this time, Josh.”

I chuckled, “I disagree, Max. She is definitely going to forgive me soon. Just watch.”

“It’s been a week since you made her join the team and she has been working her ass out for the betterment of the team. You also made her follow Eric to the corporation every day and this morning, you had the gut to send Adam to drag her down to the training ground.”

Max explained some of the annoying moves I had made on Rose during the past few days. It was exciting to think that I was getting under her skin.

“I don’t see how she will overlook your actions and forgive you.” Max added. “I don’t see how you will win her heart either.”

Her heart?

Was that what I wanted to win or was I all about her body alone?

Before I could focus on answering that question myself, Adam repeated his question, “Are you ready to finally join the warriors, Rose? It’s been over a week since you proved yourself worthy and–”

“Do I also have to join the warriors? I thought I already have a job at the corporation.”

Rose exclaimed, facepalming.

I muttered, “Once you are trusted with a particular role in the corporation, you have to train regularly, Rose. Take Eric for example.”

Rose rolled her eyes in my direction before facing Adam again. Last week she wasn't talking to Adam but this week, she had chosen to speak to him instead of me. Rose was such a dramatic female and her attitude has been a complete turn-on for me.

“Alright. If I have to join, I stand by my word, Beta Adam. I will like to be part of the aspiring warriors, train with them and also hang out with them.”

Rose announced, causing an immediate uproar among the warriors.

The warriors of the highest rank felt insulted and they assumed Rose was being petty because she wanted to humiliate them. After all, Rose defeated Nora fairly.

The potential group felt like they were losing a gem all because of Rose's beef with the members of the first rank. They didn't like that very much.

The aspiring warriors didn't seem glad about Rose’s choice either. They must be feeling bad as they assume that Rose was planning to put them in the middle of her fight.

“Are you choosing to be here so you can oppress, bully, and use us because you are stronger?”

A female omega warrior from the third rank voiced, questioning Rose. The other warriors in her group backed her up.

“We don’t want to be used as a weapon. Just join the other ranks and let us all move on.”

Another one of the aspiring warriors exclaimed.

The uproar became intense as warriors from each rank murmured at the same time.

Max etched, “When will you interfere in this?”

Huh… I didn't plan to interfere because I have trained my warriors to always settle their differences and find a way to merge but since Rose was still a fresh meat, I should interfere.

But Rose beat me to it as she said, “Can you guys even listen to yourselves?” Rose’s voice rose about the loud murmurs. “You all have opinions about me and where I should have but I want to believe that none of you can actually make me join a particular rank except I want to. So drop the issue and move on.”

Although Rose’s statement didn't exactly do the trick, she made her point and walked stubbornly to stand with the aspiring warriors. She single-handedly annoyed the shit out of the warriors and Adam had to step in to caution the noise.

“That's enough, warriors!”

Adam boomed and continued with the same tone, “Warrior Rose has made her choice and there is nothing any of you can do about that unless you convince her. However, be civil in your feelings and we should all know that the rank competition is coming up soon.”

Adam’s announcement caused the atmosphere to change. The warriors forgot about Rose who had made the right decision as long as I was concerned and they jubilated over the upcoming competition.

“You are happy she chose to be part of the aspiring warriors because you don't want her going to battles.” Max snarled at me, pretending not to be happy about Rose’s choice.

I ignored him as I looked toward Rose. She was completely uninterested in whatever was going on around us but for other aspiring warriors, this was their chance to change ranks and become more respected or remain in the same rank for another six months.

The competition was established to shuffle the ranks from time to time. During the competition, Some warriors from the second rank get promoted to the first rank or get demoted. It was the same for the remaining two ranks too but the first rank rarely loses its members.

No warrior would want to be denoted so they often train thrice as hard to maintain their status or ace their promotion goals.

This was why Adam and I decided to still let the competition happen even though we had threats at our throats.

“We have a few weeks until it begins. Get your ass to the training ground and get ready to impress the Alpha King! You might just be the next best warrior!”

Adam exclaimed and the warriors except for Rose yelled happily and in anticipation.

Adam concluded, “The new patrol rules are out. Check them out and stick to your duties at all times. That will be all for the day, North Royal Warriors!”

The Warriors hooted joyfully as many of them strolled away in groups. My eyes caught Rose’s frame sashaying away and walking alone and I left my seat to follow her home. Most of the warriors already know Rose stays in my house and although there ve been questions-- not asked directly– no one has tried to make an issue out of this.

My attempt to leave the training field was stopped by Adam who came to me with news. Adam’s voice broke into my mind as he connected to it, “My King. I have finalized the meeting with the spies. Our deal has also been finalized but the final decision still lies in your hand.”

“When and where are we meeting?”

I asked Adam and started walking with him. My pace was fast because I needed to catch up with Rose and find a way to make her talk to me.

Adam replied, “In two days. I chose the clear area by the lakeside as the meeting point.”

“That's good enough, Adam. You can text the remaining details to me.”

I sent these words to Adam’s mind as I picked up my pace, running after Rose who was about to stroll into my compound,

Adam scoffed, muttering under his breath, “You should spend more time with me not her.”

Although I heard Adam, I pretended not to and dashed after Rose who was also pretending not to sense me behind her.

“Wait up, Rose!”

I called for the infuriated woman who still ignored me.

I said, “C’mon, Rose. You can stay mad at me forever! Talk to me.”

She retorted harshly as she reached the entrance door, “I don't recall you talking to me before you forcefully made me work in your company. Let's maintain the same energy, My King.”

She entered the house without looking at me and I rushed in after her. “Stop being stubborn and hear me out.” I overlooked the fact that she was addressing me formally as I pulled her body into mine with a quick pull of her hand.”

“Let me go!” she yelled and fought against my hold right in the middle of my living room.

“You can do whatever you want as the Alpha King without talking to me about it but you don't get to touch me without my permission! You are all the same!”

Realizing the meaning behind her words, I shook her and yelled, “Don't you dare compare me to that asslícker! And you were the one that touched me without my permission that night and made it our thing so listen to me!”

“Now you are yelling at me and bringing up the past?” Rose emitted with disbelief. “You know what, I don't have the time for this. I have to get to work and Eric wouldn't wait for long–”

I inhaled deeply, shoving my anger to the depth of me. “You don't have to go to work with Eric today.”

I thought she would be happy and excited as I prepared to reveal the real surprise that would break the ice between us, but Rose went wild instantly.
