SINCE When Steve heard that his wife was gone, He did not speak, and he was stunned to tears. He can’t accept what will happen to his wife. She’s so young to be gone in this world. And they have many more plans for the future. One of them is that they have a baby. And build a happy family.
Steve’s mum paid a visit to him at his apartment. The balae summoned him to look at his son Steve when they discovered what had happened to Lisa. Perhaps he isn’t thinking in such a negative manner. They are aware of Steve’s deep affection for his wife.
The doorbell was repeatedly rung by Steve’s mother. She’s much more concerned now that no one has opened the door. The lady yelled a little, “My God, Steve, open the door!”
Steve hears his mother yelling out the door, but he lacks the strength to get up and open it. His head is still reeling from his wife’s death.
Because the lady was concerned about her child, she dashed downstairs to seek assistance. The security man below was fast to assist the lady in opening the door. They went to the condominium office right away to get the child’s unit key duplicated. The lady said why she wished to open the condo of her son. They reacted quickly and rushed over to Steve’s unit.
When they opened it, “I will go inside first,” said the lady to her companions.
They nodded to the lady.
The lady immediately went inside to see the child slumped on the floor. She was worried to see the child with a bloody hand and no strength. What are you doing to yourself?” Look at you!” The lady took the emergency kit to clean his hands. The woman first went to the people outside to say that her son was okay and that it was just a minor accident that he had. Thank you. Sorry for the inconvenience. I was just too worried about him. But he’s okay. Thank you.”
They nodded and to her and left.
When the lady returned to the living room, “How did you get in here, Ma?” Steve asked the mother.
“How? I asked for help downstairs to open the door. Who wouldn’t worry, huh? You’re here inside. Doing stupidly! You are hurting yourself!” she scolded her son.
When his mother poured alcohol on the wound on his hand, Steve couldn’t even feel the pain. It’s nothing compared to the agony of a bereaved heart. He still can’t believe his wife is no longer with him. And then, all of a sudden, his world cycle shifted, as if he wanted to follow his wife. That’s what he’s thinking now, so they can spend the rest of their lives together.
“Steve, don’t be like that, be strong! Don’t let your emotions eat you up; please just believe that I am here,” the mom says, feeling terrible for the son because he appears to be a burden to the world.
“MA! Why did this happen to Lisa? Why, there are still a lot of bad people out there. They kill, steal, and con people around them. Why her? WHY?” too unfair. Mama!”
“We don’t cling on to our lives; only God knows how far our breath will carry us, and your wife is with him. Steve, please get up and face tomorrow.”
Ma! I can’t accept it. I can’t stand that Lisa is gone. I love her so much! Who cares about tomorrow when he’s no longer with me! “
“Them, what? Are you going to follow your wife? Are you going to kill yourself, Steve? “
“Yes, Ma. “Yes!”he was really desperate. Because this is what his mind and heart say.
“What? Do you want to follow your wife? Are you stupid? If you think like that, then you jump out the window when you find out he’s dead. So I don’t see you like this.”
She broke down and cried.
Steve’s mind awoke to see his mother crying. Mom, I’m sorry! He hugged the mother tightly, knowing how much he loved her and how much he didn’t want to see her cry “He rubbed his hands together and stroked the back of the mother.
Steve, please. Don’t you ever think you want to follow your wife? Oh, I’d better go ahead of you and see your father. I’m glad to see him, you know. And if you do plan to follow your wife, we’ll be there to greet you, and we’ll have a wonderful reunion there.”
“No, Ma, I don’t want this to happen; you’re my family,” she says.
“So, don’t let your heart lead you astray. You’re still in you’re still young. Perhaps God has a greater plan for your life; trust him, son.”
Steve hugged her mother, and he didn’t say anything because he didn’t want his mother to worry.
That day, Steve’s mother-in-law called again to tell him not to follow them into the United States; he would just take them to the airport. Because someone helped them to speed up their homecoming.
Even if he doesn’t want to, Steve agrees to his mother-in-law’s request. Even though he wants to be with his wife to go home.
Steve is helpless. His mind has gone blank. Only his wife inhabits his thoughts. The phone rang as he sat on the couch, and he instantly answered it. “Hello,” he murmured quietly.
“Steve, it’s me your mother in-law.”
“Yes, Mommy.”
“Steve, I’ve already decided that I’ll take your wife’s ashes home. I’m sorry, Steve. “
Steve clenched his fist. Mommy, why? How can I see my wife? He wants to see her body. I hope you didn’t do it! “
“Steve, I’m sorry. To make it easier for us to get home, I did it!
Steve cried that even with the body of his wife he could not see. This is so very painful for him.
“Steve, are you stil there?”
“Yes,” his voice are shaking.
“I’m sorry again, Steve. I hope you understand me. Don’t hate me for what I did. “
Steve shook his head at what else he could do after that.”All right, Mommy.”
“Bye, Steve. Wait for us. “
Steve would just nod. His shoulders shook withouthis being on the other line. He is crying again. Hopefully, his mother inlaw is just joking with him. When they arrive, he can see the wife smiling at him.
Steve’s mother burst into tears as she looked at the child. She just let it go because she knew what it felt like.
Just a few days after Steve’s wife’s ashes returned home, things were quickly arranged to take them home.
Manila International Airport Steve and his mother had been waiting for the plane carrying his wife’s ashes to arrive. When he saw that the Philippine Airlines had landed, Steve was restless. His heart was beating so fast. After half an hour, he saw Lisa’s mother, holding a white jar.
Steve’s heart started racing. He was yanking his hair back. He bit the tip of his index finger as well. He was perplexed.
“Steve, take a deep breath and stay strong,” his mother advised.
When Lisa’s mother approached, it sobbed and hugged the white jar it was holding. It exclaimed, “Steve!”
Steve approached the mother-in-law. Mommy, enough crying. It’s not good for you. You’re not completely well yet. “
The lady nodded at Steve.
Lisa’s brother and father came. “My daughter!” he said and hugged his wife, whose eyes were damp because it kept the tears from flowing.
“Steve, hold your wife!” The mother-in-law handed the white jar to it.
Steve’s hand trembled as he took the jar to his mother-in-law. When he held it, he hugged the jar and quietly cried.
At St Peter’s Chapel, they laid the ashes of Steve’s wife for three days. All their friends go. During those three days, Steve was just quiet, even though he was told to condole and be strong. He just looked at them. No words would come out to him.
They brought the wife’s ashes to the seminary three days later. Steve is still at a loss for words. You can’t tell what he wants to do by looking into his eyes.
Steve returned home to their unit as soon as the funeral was completed. The mother, on the other hand, followed him. It worries the child that they may be unsure of what to do. Because he was quiet for three days.
“Ma, why are you here?”
“I’m worried about you, son.”
“Ma, I’m fine. Go home to rest. I know you’re tired too.”
“Can I stay here first, so you have someone with you, Steve?”
“Ma, please. I want to be alone!”
“But, Steve.”
“Ma. I won’t do anything nefarious. All I want to do is be alone. Thinking of her, and I’d like to speak with her. After that, Ma, I’m okay. Promise! “
The lady has no choice but to leave her son, which she understands because she knows how much her son loves Lisa. “Promise me, Steve,” she says.
“Be careful, Ma,” Steve said, nodding to his mother. “I’m sorry I can’t take you outside.”
“It’s okay, son, I’ll just take a taxi. The lady seemed unable to step her feet out of the child’s house. If it hadn’t touched him to help her get out, he wouldn’t have been able to. She’s really worried about him.
“Ma, don’t think anything about me. I already told you. I won’t do anything to make you sad. I love you, Ma.”
The lady was in tears as she walked away. He went to their tiny bar after his mum had departed. He drank a strong brandy. He intended to get intoxicated so that his wife would vanish from his memory for a brief while, without even seeing her or saying goodbye. She’s gone in that way.
He opened the brandy. He didn’t even take a drink from the glass; he simply consumed it. Even though the dryness of the harsh brandy appeared to cut his throat, there was nothing for him. When he had completed half of it Steve is disoriented and realizes he is already inebriated. His face flushed. “Ahhh! Honey! Where are you? “He shouted.”I miss you so much! “Why? Why? “ He knocked over the bottle of wine again and almost ran out of it. Honey, come here! ” He raised his hand, as if he was seeing his wife.”I know you are alive!” he said, raising his hand as though looking at his wife. “I know you’re still alive!” he said as he took a step forward to approach the woman he thought was still alive.
