Chapter 89 The Seventh Formation
ANGELICA'S POV
I closed my eyes, feeling the elements dance to the tune of my fingers moving in the air.
It was what I had been doing since Alchemist told me to keep practicing forming a tornado through my water spiral.
He said water was my prime element. And though I wished for it to be the fire, I was happy with the water, too.
I had been trying to learn how to express my emotions without affecting the nature around me.
It was hard but not impossible.
I raised my body into the sky, hidden among the tallest trees in the nation, so no one outside would see me and be surprised, especially humans.
As I practiced the formation one more time, the sudden pang in my neck, right near where my mark was, made me wince and lose my concentration.
My eyes widened when I lost my balance and started falling downwards.
Fuck, this is going to hurt like hell. Help me! I said to myself before closing my eyes, letting my powers figure it out.
Alchemist had warned me against rising so high since I was just learning, but I couldn't control my curiosity, and look where it took me.
I kept waiting for the pain, but it never appeared. When I opened my eyes, I saw my body floating above the ground, just enough to allow me to stand, and I stood straight, looking around to see if Alchemist was here to help me out.
It was me. I heard the voice in my head and realized it was my power at work.
I told you. I would never let anything harm you. The powers’ voice echoed again.
My heart skipped a beat. I don't know what this feeling was. Excitement? Thrill? Happiness Anxiousness? It was confusing.
‘I know you are confused about a lot of things. And it would be my honor to help you until you realize all of them one by one. You can call me Cecilia. That way, you will take me as your second personality. And command me whenever you want and need anything done.’ My powers explained all at once.
To say my heart thumped loudly at what she was insinuating would be an understatement.
I didn't know how to reply to them since Alchemist wasn't here to guide me. I didn't know how any of it worked.
I was nervous, and maybe she felt it too.
It's okay. Step by step? How about calling my name and giving a simple order? She suggested.
I swallowed hard and nodded.
“Cecilia, teleport back to my hotel room,” I tried the order.
Nothing happened. I chuckled at myself. I was seriously losing my mind and thinking—
The sudden swoosh of wind made me pause my thoughts as my pupils dilated when I saw myself standing in a hotel room.
See? I wasn't bluffing. Cecilia said.
I looked around to confirm. It was indeed my room.
Fuck. This was for real.
“What else can you do?” I asked.
Anything. You have no idea how far I can go to protect you. But for now, I can help you deal with her. Cecilia said.
Deal with her? Who was she talking about?
I mean the Black Coven witch who has been observing you from the forests. If you trust me enough, let me handle this situation. Cecilia said, and I contemplated.
The black coven witch was already here to check on my progress. If that were right, it wouldn't be long before they would challenge me for the throne. I can't appear as weak and unsure of myself before her.
After thinking a lot, I bobbed my head up and down.
“Do it,” I ordered, and as if Cecilia smiled, I felt something giddy in my heart.
Maybe this was what Alchemist meant when he said my powers will affect my emotions and vice versa.
“Let's go.”
That was all Cecilia said before I saw pure darkness for a couple of seconds, with no swoosh of wind or anything, and then I was standing right behind a woman dressed in a black cloak.
“Hello to you, too,” I said to the woman who turned around with wide eyes.
“Y-You–” she stuttered.
I tilted my head.
“You have been observing me for quite some time. But you never came to say hello, given how I am your superior’s daughter. So I thought I might as well address my future subordinate,” I said, exactly how Cecilia wanted me to say it.
The woman stayed quiet for some time.
“I didn't know you were already at this stage. I was informed you were a rookie,” the woman said.
I hummed.
“Well, you know now,” I said, not averting my gaze from her purple eyes even for a second.
I pinned her down with my gaze.
“Hello, I am Xyla,” she extended her hand towards me.
I looked at the extended hand with a quirked brow.
“What are the chances you are not extending your hand to feel my powers and how mature they have become?" I asked.
It was as if that was the witch's exact intention; she widened her eyes and pulled her hand back.
“Mercy,” I whispered before I raised my hand in the air, just like Cecilia asked me to do.
As soon as I did that, seven small water tornadoes, the size of that witch, started circling her.
The witch swallowed hard and looked around.
“The heavenly seventh formation?” She asked.
I had no idea what she was talking about and why this formation was called heavenly seventh or what its effect was going to be.
All I knew was that I was following Cecilia’s orders since Alchemist wasn't here to deal with this.
And apart from that, what I knew was that…for some reason, I was fucking loving this feeling.
The witch got on her knees and joined her hands before me.
“Have mercy, my lord,” she said.
This heavenly seventh formation just established your powerful self in the Black Coven as one of the only few in the entire world who could perform it. Your father was the master of it.
The person standing between these seventh formations never walks out alive. It can range from one person to one lakh people that you can kill. The larger the crowd, the bigger the formation.
Cecilia answered all my unasked questions about the formation, and I looked at my hands with wide eyes.
You make me do that? I asked.
Uhuh. You did that. You have no idea what you are worth and why he is after you. She chuckled, clearly this time.
I hummed, unsure before her words dawned upon me. Was someone after me? Did she mean my mates?
I was about to ask what she meant when I felt a swoosh of wind around me, so strong that it made it impossible for me even to see clearly.
I looked to my left, where six Black Coven witches were standing. I knew they were witches because of their purple eyes and similar black cloaks.
The witches kept looking at me, and I turned to them completely, giving them my full attention.
Their gaze felt challenging, and there was no way I was backing down. I looked straight into their eyes until the first one bowed, followed by the remaining five.
“Miss Angelica, have mercy,” The witches said simultaneously.
I knew there was more than one. Good for them; they came out before the time ended because I had no intention of leaving this witch alive if they hadn't. Cecilia confessed, and I looked at the tornadoes in shock.
I had no idea my powers were indirectly leading me to kill a witch of my coven.
How can you do that? I asked her, feeling betrayed.
I trusted her to do the right thing. How could she lead me to someone's death without telling me in advance?
You are too soft, Angelica. The throne doesn't come to the weak. It desires sacrifices. And everybody who would question you and your father's lineage will die. That's what I owe to him. Cecilia said.
Something flared inside me. How dare she?! How dare she okay me like that and bring my father into this?! She thought I was so easy to control?
I closed my eyes, trying to concentrate my consciousness on the point between my brows.
“Mercy is granted!” I said it loudly, even though Cecilia didn't order me to.
I opened my eyes. Nothing changed, and I took a deep breath.
“I order you, Cecilia. Stop this. Mercy has been granted. Will you go against your owner?” I raised my voice.
It wasn't long before the water spouts started disappearing one by one, and I took a deep breath.
The witches stood collectively and bowed to me.
“We don't doubt your capabilities. Thank you for granting mercy,” They said together.
I smiled and nodded.
“I know. Now go back,” I said.
“Aren't you going to come with us? The black coven needs their leader,” one of them said.
“I will when I deem fit,” I said.
There was still so much I needed to learn, and most importantly, I needed to train myself with Cecilia so that what happened just now wouldn't repeat.
They nodded in understanding before disappearing one by one, and I sighed.
We need to talk. I said to Cecilia before I ordered her to take me to the hotel room.
