Chapter 76 Strange Loneliness
ANGELICA’S POV
I didn't see the twin alphas for the entire night, not because they went on some kind of patrol or had to attend some sort of alpha meeting with another pack, but because they spent the night with their sister.
Last night, Ericson and Dylan came to the room to sleep, and Felicia followed them.
She asked me if it was okay for her to borrow her brothers for the night because she wanted to catch up on things, and it had been so long since they had spent a night together.
It was weird. She was back for real and forever now, right? They could catch up in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the evening.
Must they sleep in the same bed for that too?
But I didn't deny it. Not because I thought that was the right thing, but because I was confused about whether my thoughts would be portrayed as a human's selfish thoughts and jealousy, which seemed like the case, too.
Maybe I didn't like the idea of my mates sleeping with anyone else, even if it was their sister.
She liked the room we were living in, so I shifted my stuff to the room at the end of the corridor.
There was no point in saying anything. The alphas would've said that their sister was back after so long, and that was the least they could do for her, and precisely, a room was just a space for me.
It was they who made it meaningful with their presence.
But they didn't make my new room meaningful. It was okay. It was just for one night after all.
The room was untidy but bearable for the night.
I woke up in the morning, feeling strangely groggy, as if someone pulled the energy right out of my body.
Rather than feeling refreshed, I felt even more tired than last night.
With confusion, I walked straight to our previous room, where the three of them were supposed to be, to tell the alphas my training to control my powers began today, in case I had forgotten to inform them.
But when I opened the room, it was empty.
I walked downstairs to see if they were in the kitchen.
But no.
The breakfast was placed on the table, but no one was inside the house.
When I walked out of the house to ask Alen what was going on, he told me the alpha brothers took Felicia shopping because she didn't have clothes to wear and all the related stuff.
The smile faltered from my face when I heard that.
It stung. No lies.
I thought I was also a part of the family. I mean, I was going to become Luna and was definitely their mate, their soon-to-be wife.
I would've loved to take Felicia shopping or just go with them and spend some time knowing her and understanding the dynamics of the werewolf world or what they expected from me as a mate.
“Do you want me to call the alphas?” Alen asked, and I smiled.
“I have their number too,” I said, waving my phone in front of him with a light chuckle, and the man laughed.
“Right. I forgot. You are our Luna after all,” Alen joked before bowing and leaving.
I was their Luna after all. The sentence strangely made me laugh in mockery.
Was this what the alchemist meant when he said this place didn't belong to me or that I would never find my home here?
The doubts were starting to strengthen, and I didn't like it. I love the twin brothers as much as they love me. Just because their sister returned shouldn't make me question their love for me.
I shook my head and walked inside the house with a sigh.
Pouring some juice for myself, I was about to drink it when I felt a cold swoosh of wind pass by my neck, making my goosebumps rise.
“You seem sad.” The familiar voice nearly made me spill the juice on the carpet.
I turned to look at Alchemist, who stood there, looking ancient, his eyes screaming of his maturity, as if he were someone who has been around for thousands of years and knows everything inside out.
“Not sad. I am nervous… about the training,” I twisted the words.
He smiled. His green eyes glinted with an emotion almost similar to sympathy, but he didn't say anything.
“So, have you eaten anything?” He changed the subject, his gaze falling on the cold food on the table that I was about to heat and eat.
“Come. I'll take you out to dine. That's the least I could do for my student, who I am going to break and torment in training,” Alchemist said with light amusement lingering in his tone.
“That's not a very promising thing to say to a person who knows nothing about herself,” I said but followed him out to the patio nonetheless.
“Where is your car?” I asked when I didn't see any.
The man chuckled as if I made the joke of the century.
“Have you ever seen me driving one?” He asked.
I raised my brows at him. Did he mean he was going to make both of us vanish? But that would inconvenience everyone.
“Wait. Let me write a note for the alphas then. They'll worry when they return,” I said and quickly walked inside the house to grab a pen and paper, but I had taken a few steps only when the Alchemist appeared right before me, making me hit my face on his chest.
What the—? I groaned inwardly before rubbing my nose that tingled with pain.
“Here,” He clicked his fingers and a note with my handwriting that said ‘I am going for my training and will return by evening.’
I looked at the man suspiciously.
This man was truly remarkable with his techniques. If I didn't know he produced it, I would've honestly mistaken it for my own note.
Wait. This way he can use this method to sign cheques and withdraw money from my account and….
“Do I look like I need money for anything?” Alchemist asked, making me jerk in my place.
“Are you reading my mind?” I asked, horrified at his invasion of my privacy.
Rather than answering me, he stepped forward and flicked my forehead, making me groan.
“Oww! What was that for?” I massaged the area between my brows that he hit.
“Why would I need to read your mind when you are being so loud with them?” He asked, and I realized I said all that stuff out loud.
With a sheepish chuckle, I nodded at him before closing my eyes so he could make us vanish.
“I want you to keep your eyes open for this one,” he said.
Eyes open? But why? I was about to ask when he beat me to it.
“I want you to feel your very first experience towards what you really are,” he said, and before I could retort about how scared I was, I felt a sudden cold wind twirl around me, engulfing me in its embrace.
