Chapter 63 Forgiveness

Chapter 63 Forgiveness
ANGELICA'S POV

“Mi Amore, please wait up,” Dylan rushed behind me and held my hand, stopping me from running further towards the forest.

Let go of me. The words were at the edge of my tongue, but it was as if someone possessed my mouth.

No words came out of my mouth, no matter how much I tried.

“Please listen to us at least once?” He pleaded.

They could appear before me, but they didn't.

They waited for me to turn around and look at them, look at their pain, and I hated my empathetic soul for it.

I was in deep pain too, but even with that, facing them now, I could only think of their pain.

“I know you thought we were using you as our pawn against Ronaldo, but that's not true. It's true that we initially thought that, but trust me, after we fell in love with you, immediately when you joined the company… We couldn't,” Dylan said.

I closed my eyes, shedding the tears that itched to fall, before taking a deep breath and blinking my eyes repeatedly to shoo back the remaining tears.

I turned to face them, my gaze falling on their haggard forms.

The dark circles under their eyes spoke of the night they didn't sleep, and the little beards on their faces spoke of their urgency in looking for me.

Their clothes were wrinkled and messy, something I have never seen before.

At this moment, they weren't the masked CEOs of the Martino empire. They were two men in love who were apologizing to their lover. That was what I had said if I hadn't been on the receiving or deceived side.

“Felicia is our sister. She was the only family member we had. Your stepfather used to teach at a University where our elder sister was a student,” Dylan started the story.

“Our sister fell in love with your stepfather. He used to treat her well. So she thought he reciprocated the feelings, but he never loved her. She wasn't his mate, and she had lost her mate,” Dylan took a deep, shaky breath.

It was clear that it was hard for him to talk about it.

“Ronaldo rejected her advances, and our sister couldn't take it. She took her life by offering herself to the rogues. She raised us after our parents. Thus, we couldn't bear with her loss. We decided we would avenge her loss by making Ronaldo pay. He shouldn't have led her on,” Dylan ended.

It was a lot to take in.

After what my parents told me, I didn't even know if the twin alphas would accept me, knowing I might not just be a human. And I was definitely not a werewolf.

My gaze shifted to Ericson, who was just standing there, looking at me as if trying to read the storm in my head.

I looked around and noticed many people were starting to walk out of their houses.

I realized I had always thought my father owned this society, so they lived like this.

Well, my stepfather definitely owned it, but it wasn't because he was the mafia leader, but because he was the alpha.

It must've been a tiresome job for them to hide their identity from me for so long.

I shook my head. It wasn't time to think about others.

“Please leave me alone.” The words left my mouth, and I turned.

However, as I took a few steps, Ericson, who walked before me, stopped me.

He just stood there, and I kept looking at him, waiting for him to say his part.

But he didn't. Rather, he took a deep breath and knelt before me.

My gaze wavered. Judging from the collective gasps, I could feel it was a big thing for an alpha to get on his knees like this. Besides, didn't they used to say they were the strongest alphas all over the world? It made them a pretty big shot.

“Give us one chance, please,” He finally said those words, snapping my attention to him.

I looked at the man, my heart already leaning towards them.

“Stand up,” I said, averting my gaze from him.

“Forgive me first.” He was persistent.

“Forgiveness isn't asked, Ericson. It's earned. You have hurt me. Do you think kneeling before me will repair the damage you guys have done?” I asked.

Dylan quickly moved forward and held my hands in his, nearly kicking his brother away. I looked at the duo, dumbfounded, when Ericson promptly stood and pushed Dylan, holding my hand.

“I am ready to do it. I'll earn that forgiveness. Just give us… No, give me this chance. I don't want him to fuck up for both of us. Like he did with this revenge thing,” Ericson glared at Dylan.

Dylan looked at Ericson as if he were deeply offended by his words.

“You bastard. How can you throw me under the bus and leave me alone?” Dylan grabbed Ericson's collar.

“Bastard? Did you just curse at me? You are the bastard one!” Ericson growled, and I sighed.

For some reason, rather than finding their behaviour repulsive, I felt it was more calming.

Seeing them about to throw hands at each other, I rolled my eyes.

“You guys remember that you are twins, right?” I asked.

The two guys paused briefly before clearing their throats and looking at me.

“He started it,” Ericson pointed to Dylan before both sobered.

“Please give us this chance to prove our love to you,” they said simultaneously.

“What will you do to prove your love to me?” I asked.

The guys looked at each other.

“We will kill that bastard Keith who dared to hurt you,”

“We will definitely make Alpha Tyler pay for how he abducted you.”

“We will take you shopping and shower you with immense love and–”

“How about letting me sleep in peace?” I asked.

They nodded together.

I didn't want to go home and face my parents. I wanted to be left alone for some time.

Thus, I walked to a cottage near the woods that used to be my playground.

Going straight to the bedroom, I lay on the bed and passed out immediately.

\~~~

Due to the nightmares of what happened in that abandoned building, I woke up in the middle of the night with a jerk.

I opened the door and was about to walk to the kitchen when I saw something, or should I say someone, in the hall.

I walked into the hall and noticed the two alphas sleeping on the couches.

Their haggard tiredness was visible from far away.

They were trying their best to get to me.

With a sigh, I grabbed the spare blankets from the cabinet and placed them over the two men, letting them sleep in peace before returning to my room with the glass of water so I wouldn't disturb them.

Sitting on the bed, I looked out of the window, my breath hitching when, out of nowhere, I saw a golden message appearing on the window of my balcony.

“It's time for you to realize your worth.”

The message was short and straightforward, and even though Dad said I needed to stop fearing things and accept them, I couldn't help but compare this scene to a horror movie.

It was really creeping me out, and if that wasn't enough, the shooting pain in my hand as the heat started to rise in my head made me gasp.

This kind of heat and pain… it happened when…

I looked at the window and saw a man in a cloak standing outside the balcony, as if waiting for me to invite him in.

I was about to go and see who it was and if it was related to what my parents told me, but then I saw his floating legs and gulped.

I didn't want to, but I couldn't help it.

A scream left my mouth before I could control my head, and the shadow disappeared along with the pain in my hand and that heat, while the twin alphas rushed to my room immediately.

“What's wrong, Mi Vida?” Ericson looked around suspiciously, and I shook my head.

“I'm sorry for waking you up. It was just a nightmare,” I said, and they looked at each other, nodding nonetheless.
