Chapter 60 Tyler’s Intention

Chapter 60 Tyler’s Intention
ANGELICA'S POV

I looked at the person before me in utter shock.

What was he doing here? No. The main question was, what was I doing here?

What happened in that abandoned building replayed in my head like a nightmare.

The hooligans' laughter sounded like cursed chants of mockery and humiliation, and I clenched my fists to keep my emotions in check.

Did he kidnap me? I was sure someone saved me, but where was that person?

Tyler was a werewolf. Victoria mentioned it to me before. And if I appeared scared, he would sense it.

“W-what do you want?” I asked him, stuttering involuntarily.

The man looked at me with genuine pity.

“What happened to you, Angelica? I found you in the forest when I was looking for you,” He said.

His expression was alright, worthy of trust, but I found his reasoning a little hard to believe.

“Sorry, Führerin. I am late.”

I remembered those words whispered into my ears before I was brought out of that hellhole. That stench, that glow that fought for me, that string that sliced everyone's limbs and head… what was it?

Did the moon goddess send someone to bestow mercy on me and save me from something her children caused?

What did Führerin even mean? That voice sounded so ancient.

“I was kidnapped,” I whispered, taking the food tray from Tyler.

As much as I hated this person for breaking my heart, after meeting the twin alphas and knowing how irrevocable the attraction to your mate is, for some reason, I didn't feel repulsed by his presence.

Besides, I needed some nutrition to return to my home city. My parents were answerable to me for many things.

“The strongest alphas, and they couldn't protect you? It was better when you were with me,” Tyler scoffed, and I looked at him sharply. Did he just say that after betraying me?

Tyler sighed before wiping the sauce from my lips with a napkin.

“I am serious, Li. I had no intention of breaking up with you. My love for you was real, even if you weren't my mate. Cindy threatened that she would expose me to you, and since you weren't my mate, I would've been punished along with my pack until I married you,” Tyler said.

I raised my brows at him.

This was indeed news. I knew about this arrangement. That was the reason the werewolves don't tell anyone about their identity.

“But now everything is sorted. You know about us already, and we can be together. We were in a relationship for three years. Let's not throw it away, baby.” Tyler cupped my cheeks, and I gently pulled back.

I looked at the man whose eyes were hopeful, just like the first day when he had proposed to me, like when he used to coax and court me so I could say yes to him.

All those happy memories flashed in my head.

I didn't say anything to him. I didn't want to say that I was Ericson and Dylan's mate, which was how I learned about wolves.

The obsessive look on his face had me thinking. Earlier, when I snapped at him, I didn't know he was a werewolf, but now I knew.

These werewolves were known for losing their tempers and letting their animalistic side take over if things didn't go their way.

Ericson had snapped, and his wolf had taken over, almost marking me when I mentioned Jarvin.

There was no way I could afford to provoke Tyler after what happened tonight. I had no idea what was happening inside his head, and I did not intend to find out.

“Can I have your phone? My parents must be worried sick after they heard I was kidnapped,” I said to Tyler.

The man looked at me suspiciously for some time.

“How would they know you were kidnapped?” He asked.

“I was on a call with them when that man attacked my cab,” I answered without any hesitation, and he nodded.

“Here, take it. I'll have to meet your parents sooner or later anyway if we have to marry.” Tyler cupped my cheeks with adoration.

I smiled.

“What if you find your mate later?” I asked, cursing myself for letting my impulsive question come out of my mouth.

Tyler didn't say anything for a few seconds.

He kept looking at me before he leaned and kissed my forehead, almost making me flinch.

“I am happy you are worried about that stuff, baby. But you don't need to. My mate died long ago. And I will tell the council that I have chosen you as my mate,” Tyler said.

He wrapped his hands around me, hugging me close.

The familiar manly smell that used to calm me and make me fall deeper for him, the same scent that attracted me for three long years and had me believing that this man was the person I wanted to marry, did nothing this time.

I hummed vaguely, forcing a smile.

My body ached terribly, and I groaned.

“Sorry, baby. I almost forgot you are still healing, my little human. Don't worry. I will keep you safe. I don't have such enemies either. Regarding Keith, I will ensure he pays for what he did.” Tyler’s gaze darkened, and I gulped.

He pulled out his phone and asked me for the number so he could call in my place. I don't know if he was taking a protective measure, so I don't call my bosses.

I told him the number, and he furrowed his brows before looking at me.

“Alpha Ronaldo?” He asked.

“That's my stepfather,” I whispered casually. I was about to take a bite but stopped.

What did he say? Alpha?

“Alpha?” I asked.

“The number you told me is registered as Alpha Ronaldo. Did you not know?” He asked.

As if he understood my shock, he nodded.

I shrank in my place.

“Do you want me to go ahead?” He asked, and I nodded.

That was my family. Even if there were things they hid from me, they were still the only ones I could rely on.

“Hello?” The familiar voice said from the other side, and my body shivered as tears rolled down my cheeks.

“Dad,” I whispered.

There was no voice from the other side, and I thought he didn't hear me. I was about to speak again.

“Angelica! Baby, where are you? We are coming for you. Don't be afraid, my love. Please hold on for some time.” My mother's voice, full of helplessness, echoed, and I licked my bottom lip before looking at Tyler for help.

He told me the location of the hotel we were staying at, and I said the address.

“We will be there soon, baby. It's good that you are safe and—”

“You have a lot of explaining to do, Mom,” I said, and with the deep, shaky breath that my mom took, I could feel she knew exactly what I was talking about.

My mother sighed loudly.

“It's about time we come clean about your birth anyway, baby,” she said.

The way my mother said it, I knew either this truth was going to turn my life upside down, or it was going to be something that would take me away from them forever.

However, I barely nodded before handing the phone back to Tyler.

The man walked out with the phone and talked for some time to someone, but none of that bothered me. What bothered me was what my mom said through the hints.

“Sometimes people are not at fault, and things aren’t what they appear, baby. People love you.”

The twin Alphas were looking for me and were heartbroken. It wasn't their fault. Even when they were targeting Dad by using me, my mom was still taking their side?

Did I really misunderstand them? I looked at the window helplessly before hugging myself, closing my eyes.
