Chapter 58 Where was she?

Chapter 58 Where was she?
THIRD PERSON'S POV

Dylan sat in his car’s seat, his brows knitted close as he covered his eyes with his hands to hide his expression from his team.

His heart ached, like someone was squeezing it from inside.

It was his fault. He deserved that kind of pain, but the thought that their mate could be in trouble since their team could not detect her location ate him from inside.

‘Did you really cook this? It tastes yummy. But I want some stuffed buns too. Can you make them for me?’

Angelica’s voice rang in his ears.

“I will cook them for you, Angelica,” Dylan said instantly. His mate was probably hungry.

His words caught his team's attention, who looked at their alpha with pity.

Dylan looked around and realised he wasn't in the house with Angelica but in the car as they looked for her.

Tears welled in his eyes, and he blinked quickly. He couldn't afford to appear weak before his team.

“We will find her, sir,” Zishan said.

The man didn't say anything and just pursed his lips.

“Has the team covering CCTV footage found anything?” Dylan asked.

Zishan looked at his hand, ashamed because they still couldn't find anything.

“Alpha Ericson is there looking over it with the team, but so far none of our spies have been able to find anything,” Aiden said.

This won't do. They need to become more proactive with their search.

Dylan exited the car when he reached the Spy network building of their pack, where Ericson had been trying to locate their mate without taking a break.

This was more important for her safety than anything else.

Sitting behind the chair and looking at the footage, Ericson didn't know how to feel. His heart was anxious, and he prayed to the moon goddess for just one glimpse of Angelica.

They found a few clips where Angelica ran out of the pack and hailed a taxi, but she got down in the town.

There she rented a motel. And they thought she would be there since she never exited the state.

However, when their team reached there, they discovered she had left long ago.

She didn't hail any company's taxi, and it was hard to recognize her.

“Have we made any progress?” Dylan asked.

Standing near the large screen, Jack filled him in on all the information they found so far.

Dylan looked at his strangely calm brother, the calm that only meant destruction.

He walked to Ericson and was about to speak when his phone vibrated.

Dylan looked at the unknown number and furrowed his brows.

“Hello?” He asked.

“You! What did you do to my daughter?! What was her fault? You wanted to take revenge on me. You should've come at me! Why bring an innocent soul into this?” Ronaldo's angry voice full of helplessness echoed from the other side.

Ericson looked at Dylan, his gaze wavering for a second.

“Ronaldo, it's true that—” Dylan started to clarify the misunderstanding: They never wanted to use Angelica as a pawn, not after realizing how much they loved her.

However, Marilyn snatched the phone from Ronaldo's hands and sniffed.

“Why did you do that to my daughter? She isn't even related to this world. She doesn't know what werewolves are. I kept her protected for so many years. Why?! She had a tough life right from birth, and she died so many times. Why did you betray her?!”

Marilyn’s cry of anguish, laced with her motherly affection and concern, clenched Ericson's heart.

“Luna Marilyn –”

“What if he got her! I will never forgive you if something happened to her,” Marilyn said.

Dylan ended the call without saying anything before he initiated the video call so they could see the sincerity in their eyes.

So Marilyn could see they loved her daughter.

“Luna Marilyn, please believe us. Angelica was never a pawn. She is our mate, the one chosen by the moon goddess. How could we use her?” Dylan asked.

The pain in his voice and tears in his eyes indicated how much he was controlling his emotions and trying to stay strong, too.

No one said anything for a few seconds, as they saw Ronaldo hugging Marilyn to calm her while she cried.

It has been seven hours since Angelica called them and learned about the betrayal.

They naturally thought she would run to them after being betrayed like this because she always ran to her mother at every inconvenience.

But this time, she didn't contact them. Her phone was switched off too, untraceable, and the lingering fear of Jarvin in the area, who almost caught her, was eating at their hearts.

“She encountered her stalker despite your security. Do you think she is safe out there? We can't even reach her,” Ronaldo said.

Though hateful towards Ronaldo for what happened to Felicia, Ericson understood the concern behind his words and looked down at his hands before taking a deep breath.

He looked up at the large screen and was about to assure Ronaldo that he would find Angelica and bring her safely no matter what when Harrish rushed inside the large room.

“Sir, this is bad.” Harris didn't even look towards the screen where Ronaldo and Marilyn were on the video call.

Harris showed him his laptop screen.

As soon as Dylan's gaze fell on Angelica’s bruised face with blood all over her body and her clothes being torn mercilessly, an earth-piercing growl left his mouth, his eyes immediately turning black.

“That bastard!” Dylan growled and turned into his wolf form before rushing out.

Dylan was the calm brother among the twins, and seeing his brother acting like this, Ericson’s heart skipped a beat.

He walked to Harris hesitantly and saw what it was that made his brother lose control.

As soon as his gaze landed on their mate’s battered state, it felt like someone had hammered his heart and broken it into thousands of shards.

“Who sent it?” Ericson asked Harris.

Harris looked at his alpha with a pitiful expression.

He fast-forwarded the video, skipping Angelica’s torture before it settled on one face they least expected to see in this scenario.

“Well, hello to you, too, Dylan and Ericson. How did you like my gift? Honestly, I am quite unsure if this would bother you. The girl keeps saying you betrayed her when my men said you were protective of her. It’s confusing,” Keith said in the video.

His words were loud and clear, and Ronaldo and Marilyn heard them, too, their pupils dilating as the worst-case scenario they had imagined had come true.

“Anyways, if this girl mattered to you, you did a pitiful job protecting her. How could you let her roam free when I was in the area? And if you guys don’t like her, it’s okay. She is getting quite some attention from my men. I wonder if her pussy would be satisfying enough after being rammed by so many men,” Keith said.

A growl left Ericson’s throat when he heard Keith’s words. Dread filled his mind and heart, and he gulped.

No. This couldn’t happen. It shouldn’t. Angelica wouldn’t bear for their sins.

Ericson looked around helplessly, pulling his hair before he paused.

He walked to Harris and watched the video again.

There was a broken sign on the wall behind Keith. Ericson clenched his fists when he recognized it immediately.

It was the same place where they had found some rogues trafficking girls and had killed them all to save those girls.

“Let’s go,” Ericson said and quickly mind-linked his brother.
