Chapter 55 Have they lost her?
THIRD PERSON'S POV
Something was wrong.
They could feel it in the air.
No. They could feel it in the gazes of their pack members as their car entered the pack borders.
Everything was fine when they left.
Did something happen when they were gone for the meeting? The brothers wondered, and they raised their hands to motion to the driver to stop the car.
Dylan rolled the window down and beckoned Harris to come near the car.
Harris jogged to the car.
“Yes, Alpha,” He said.
“Did something happen while we were gone? Any movement from the rogues or the wolves of the west?” Dylan asked.
Harris shook his head and told him everything was in control.
Dylan's brows furrowed as the assurance from his subordinate still couldn't subside the feeling. He nodded nonetheless before contacting Zishan.
“How is everything going?” Ericson asked.
Their car was about to leave when Harris suddenly stopped them.
“Alpha, there is indeed something that you should know. It’s not about the rogues, but I found it peculiar. It's best you know beforehand,” Harris said.
His words made Dylan and Ericson step out of the car. His expression made it clear he didn't want others to hear and panic.
While they could've used the mind link, they preferred talking.
“What is it?” Ericson asked, his gut signaling that he wouldn't like what Harris would say next.
“Alpha, the thing is… you already know that Tiara took Luna Angelica for shopping and –”
“What about Angelica?” Ericson's expression darkened while Dylan turned stiff beside them.
Harris gulped before telling them how Adrianna might've provoked Angelica. The girl left to use the washroom. However, after some time, Tiara and others couldn't find her.
They asked him if Luna returned, but Angelica hadn't.
After about fifty minutes, Angelica came running to the pack borders. She was sweating profusely, and judging from her appearance, she looked scared of something.
She kept saying someone was following her and that he had got her and was coming for her. When she asked where their alphas were and if they had returned, he told her that they weren't back yet, and she went to their office.
The more Ericson heard, the angrier he turned.
“Just a few hours. We left her in the pack’s care for a few hours, and you couldn't protect her?” Ericson growled and was about to sit inside the car when his hand on the handle froze.
“Wait. What did you say? Where is she waiting?” Ericson asked.
Dylan's pupils dilated at his words. They remembered studying Ronaldo's file. After coming down from that hill and establishing their bond, they had thought about removing anything related to Angelica from that file because they didn't want to hurt her even in their wildest dreams. But the meeting turned up urgently and… who would’ve thought…
Ericson didn't waste a second. He turned in his enormous wolf form and ran straight to their office, followed by Dylan.
Her scent became stronger as they ran through the corridors.
As Ericson reached the office, he returned to his human form before opening the door.
His gaze landed on the opened file, and he walked to it, his heart pounding against his chest.
“Prime target to destroy Ronaldo Foyer,”
The tear stain on the page clearly indicated that she was not only present but also had read it.
“Angelica. Where is she? I need to find her,”
Heat rushed to Ericson's head, and he looked around madly.
Dylan looked at the file behind his brother; regret immediately consumed his heart.
“Where the hell is she?!” Ericson growled, his earth-shattering growl suddenly shaking everyone.
Tiara, Zishan, and Alen, who returned to the pack since Harris told them that their Luna was back and safe, shook in their places before they looked at Adrianna, who had fear written all over her face.
“You spoke against our Luna, and because of you, she got into trouble. Let's see how our alpha will punish you,” Tiara said smugly while Adrianna felt the ground below her feet move as she fell from the main office building.
No. This wasn't right. The alphas shouldn't hurt her because she said a few words to that human. Besides, was anything she said wrong? Did the strongest pack in the world really deserve a human Luna?
Rrrrr!!
Another growl echoed, heavier and louder this time.
Their alphas were angry; everyone could feel it through their pack bonds.
The males started leaving their houses, asking the children and women to stay inside.
The security at the pack and in the middle of the pack alerted. Even the prisoners in the dungeons shifted in the corners of their cells, afraid they would be the recipients of the alphas' wrath.
“Where the hell is she?” Ericson's loud voice rang through the mind link.
Everyone spread like wildfire to look for Angelica. And after twenty minutes, reality finally sunk in.
Angelica wasn't in the pack.
She left long ago.
“She left us,” Ericson said, his voice calm.
Dylan looked at his impatient brother. He knew this calm was more dangerous than his brother growling and showing his anger.
He couldn't help but take a deep breath before moving his hand through his hair.
He looked around, unsure what to do and where to look.
Ericson stood from his place and immediately dialed a number.
“I am sending you a photo. Circulate it everywhere. Block all the checkposts and exits from this city and state. Send a team to the airports and stations. This girl shouldn't leave the state under any circumstance,” Ericson said.
He turned to his brother, his amber eyes turning dark, almost black, as he contained his anger.
“I told you to destroy this file long ago, didn't I? We could avenge Felicia in another way. Now she ran away because of it. I will claim her the moment I catch her and face whoever will try to stop me. She is fucking mine,” Ericson said, his every word laced with warning before he left.
Dylan took a deep breath. He was angry, angrier than Ericson, but unlike his brother, he didn't know where to vent his anger.
He looked out of the window of his office.
It was all because of their revenge plan. Because of that, they ended up hurting one woman that they promised to love for eternity.
He closed his eyes briefly, his fists clenched at the thought of the pain she must've gone through.
She must have thought that all their love and care for her were just lies and traps. Even feeling that they hurt her was suffocating.
As Dylan thought about everything, he opened his eyes suddenly.
Wait. Harris said Angelica had returned panting and crying. She said someone was following her and coming for her.
She had indeed mentioned a stalker once.
Could it be that she saw the same man? If so, finding her before that man got her would be even more crucial.
Dylan quickly summoned Zishan and asked him to take a team to the city and check the security footage around the mall and inside it to see if they could find anyone suspicious.
At the same time, back in the city, Tyler, who was consumed by guilt and was having a hard time, looked at his subordinate through the video call while he was on the outskirts of Amoled City because he had received information from his team that Angelica boarded the flight to here.
“Sir, after stalling Victoria for so long, we finally got something worth telling you. It looks like Angelica now has information about werewolves. You shouldn't have a problem telling her the truth anymore,”
The subordinate said through the video call.
Tyler, who was drinking his coffee, paused.
What did he say? Angelica found out about their species.
A ray of hope ignited in his heart.
Cindy wasn't his mate. However, for some reason, he had to leave Angelica and pretend to be in love with that girl because she threatened him that she would tell the council everything about his doings.
“Great. I'll find her now,” Tyler said with a smile.
Angelica Royal was the girl he truly loved but couldn't have because she wasn't his mate. Then again, she was just a human, not any other wolf's mate.
There wasn't a ban on the relationship between humans and wolves. And now that Angelica knew the truth, he won't be breaking any laws.
Tyler downed the entire coffee before standing from the cafe.
