Chapter 49 A Little knowledge
ANGELICA'S POV
Things weren't as simple as I had thought.
After returning from the Pack border, Dylan and Ericson revealed their identities and told me everything I needed.
The area I was staying in was their pack, and every member was known as a pack member. This area was known as the Blood Martial Pack, and they were the strongest pack in the nation.
In addition to this pack, 19 more packs in the nation coexisted with humans and mingled with them.
Due to their supernatural laws, they weren't allowed to reveal their identity to a human until that human was a mate of the person or a relative.
Under exceptional circumstances, if a human witnessed a werewolf shift, they would be left alive only if they swore secrecy. Otherwise, their memories were snatched away. This is also why no one ever mentioned seeing a werewolf.
Apart from their species, many dark creatures roaming on Earth mingled well with humans, and we don't know anything about them.
Everything dated back thousands of years to when the moon goddess gave these boons to a cult that practiced meditation and prayed to her.
Many families were in that cult group, and each family was given a unique ability, thus becoming a different species over time.
That was why many species have slightly similar features but are called the dark creatures.
That was also why all these dark creatures only worship the moon goddess as their ultimate goddess.
They must turn on the full moon to show respect for the moon, even for a minute.
Coming back to me, they told me I was their fated mate.
According to them, the moon goddess provides every werewolf with an exclusive mate. Having a human mate was unique and very rare, and they happened to be one such case.
Only under exceptional circumstances, like rejection or the mate's death, was a person given a second chance. But that was a rare phenomenon, as most wolves practice one-woman/one-man for eternity.
Since I was their mate, I was bound to fall for their charms, which was why I fell for them so hard and quickly even when my heart got betrayed recently.
Dylan mentioned a ritual about mating and marking that compelled him to turn into his wolf to stop Ericson in time.
I have yet to learn about that stuff in detail. All they told me was that they will bite me in the neck and I will bear some kind of tattoo from both of my alphas.
Since they were twin brothers, only a couple of minutes apart, they were bestowed with one mate.
When wolves turn eighteen, they become eligible to find their mates, and they told me they had yearned to look for theirs.
They feared they would go berserk and out of control if they couldn't find their mate in time, as had happened to a few alphas before.
I sighed as I took in all the information. It was still hard to digest that the men I had been falling for were dogs… I mean wolves.
I looked out the window, sipping the cold coffee I ordered in one of the cafes while waiting for the brothers, The Alphas, to arrive.
“Hey,”
I turned around at the voice and smiled at the person.
“I heard about what happened. You have no idea how happy I am that you know things now. It was so hard to control my mouth because I wanted to be friends with you,” Tiara hushed and I chuckled at her.
I looked at Alen, who had a small embarrassed smile while he looked at us.
“I am trying to adapt, I would say,” I said.
“You have no idea how happy we are. We knew about you the day you arrived at the company and it has been hard since then,” Alen said.
I chuckled awkwardly.
Knowing they knew everything about me and were probably waiting for my recognition was a bit uncomfortable.
“What's so good about a human knowing about us? That's pathetic,”
I heard a crisp voice and shifted my gaze to the cafe entrance.
My brow furrowed when I saw three girls entering the cafe. The one in the middle had the sharpest and most unfriendly look.
“Adrianna, be nice,” Tiara said.
I tilted my head, only observing the girl.
Now I may not be familiar with the dynamics here, but being the lover of the alphas put me on some kind of pedestal among these people.
And for this girl to disrespect me even when she knew the truth, it was obvious she wasn't a fan of me.
But why?
“Why should I? I am yet to go blind. Can't you see that rather than supporting her, we should be opposing the alpha's decision that is trying to make a mere human our Luna?” Adrianna said.
She looked me directly. I felt no fear or wariness apart from confusion.
If this girl thought glaring at me would make me afraid, she had no idea what I go through daily, the kind of stalker I deal with, and the kind of training I have to put myself through just to stay alive.
“Are you okay with marrying two alphas? Two men who want you. Do you even know the extent of the kind of attention they would need?” Adrianna asked me.
I shook my head.
She smirked.
“You have no idea what you are getting yourself into but still dare to stay here and act like a fcking queen. Entitled much?” she asked.
I shook my head again.
Her expression changed slightly.
“You-” she started but it was my turn to step up this time.
“I might not know how to love or care for two alphas, but I am sure I will learn. Besides, I never said I have accepted them, and whether I will do it depends on whether they can prove their love to me, not because I am afraid they are wolves,” I said.
Standing from my position, I walked to the girl before looking at the girl directly in the eyes.
“I might just be a human, but don't forget that if I step up, I will be your Luna. So lower your gaze when you look at me,” I said.
The girl glared at me, her eyes boring into mine.
I don't know what it was. Was it the power that Dylan's and Ericson's words assured me that I was feeling, which was making me so fearless, or was it something else?
A surge of heat and adrenaline inside me wanted me to fight back.
I felt a weird heat in my hand. I wanted to see what it was, but it was as if I couldn't look away from Adrianna.
I didn't want to back down.
“You heard her,” Dylan's cold voice resounded, snapping my attention to him, and I saw Adrianna’s expression taking a 180 degree turn.
The urge I had been feeling, dissipated.
I saw how she turned around and looked at my men, making me chuckle inwardly.
As a woman, it wasn't hard to decipher what this was all about anymore. She wasn't worrying that a human would be their iuna. She was just using the ‘human-card’ against me.
Adrianna wanted the alphas and would oppose any woman, regardless of rank or community.
“We have placed your luggage in the trunk. Let's go,” Ericson walked to me before bending and pecking my lips, making my gaze turn to Adrianna.
The way her face contorted, the theory strengthened in my head and I smiled at them, not wanting to give some random btch the pleasure to ruin my day.
“Let's go,” I said to him.
“Where are you going, Alpha? Do we need security there?” Alen stepped ahead.
“Well, it seems we got to seduce your Luna before she can say yes to us and gets ready to accept everything,” Dylan said and everyone chuckled while I blushed at their remarks.
Hiding my face as he walked to me and hugged me, they chuckled before pulling me out of the cafe.
“This girl, Adrianna, is she at an important position in the pack?” I asked Dylan.
“She is running for the position of leading female warrior of the pack. Why?” he asked, but I shook my head.
I didn't want to make empty speculations.
