Chapter 47 He turned into what?
ANGELICA'S POV
I sat on the bed after packing my stuff.
We were supposed to leave tomorrow evening after the meeting with one of the clients, and since the entire day would be busy, I packed beforehand.
Looking out the window, I noticed a couple of men circling the house I was staying at, and I couldn't help but admire the tight security.
These people were living like royals.
Wherever they go, around two SUVs full of bodyguards accompany them, and whenever they get into an argument, more than ten guards shield them from any potential danger.
I understand their importance, but wasn't it a bit too much for people who were only business tycoons?
However, judging from what I have noticed, things might be more complicated than imagined.
For some reason, it felt like I didn't know many things about these two guys I was falling for and who claimed to love me.
Ring… Ring…
My phone ringing snapped me out of my thoughts, and I smiled as I looked at the caller ID.
“Hey,” I said.
“Hey, you. Why has it become so hard to meet you? You said you would be back in two days from this business trip. Haven't you arrived back?” Matt asked me.
I looked down apologetically.
I know Matt had feelings for us that were stronger than feelings for a friend, and somehow, not telling him anything made me feel like I was sinning.
“One of my bosses insisted on me staying for a couple more days, and I obliged. He… I like him,” I said, waiting for him to say anything.
There was some silence on the other hand and I felt momentarily guilty. Have I broken his heart?
He was my pillar and the most supportive friend throughout college. He ensured I never felt left out or edgy whenever I felt someone was following me.
I didn't want to hurt him.
“That's great, Li. Just make sure you are not using him as a rebound. I mean, after what Tyler did…” Matt let the sentence hang, and I smiled at his thoughtfulness, feeling much more relaxed.
“Don't worry. I am not using anyone as a rebound. You'll love to meet him in person. I mean, apart from when those wolves chased us. He is great and takes great care of me,” I said, still not wanting to admit that I was falling for both of them.
“So is it the blue eyes one or the amber eyes one? You are such a sucker for beautiful eyes,” Matt commented, and I chuckled.
After talking for some time, feeling much more at ease than before, I was about to put my phone aside when I received a message from an unknown number.
With furrowed brows, I opened the message, my hands pausing on the screen as I read what was written.
\[BELONGS TO THE MOROCCO.
Isn't this beautiful, my love? I don't know if it's the beauty of the diamonds or the name that is engraved on it that makes it so unique,\]
I opened the image that was along with it.
The image contained a beautiful bracelet with capitalized initials and my name on it.
A mocking smile spread on my lips as I read the words repetitively.
This man was indeed becoming the bane of my existence for real.
How come he always finds a way to ruin my happiness even when he is not with me?
I walked out of the house to take a walk within the vicinity I was allowed to with a couple of people following behind to ensure I wouldn't be attacked this time.
Entering the forests, I turned to the left when I bumped into Alen.
“What are you doing here at this time, Li? And wait… I know you are hot, but don't you think you'll catch a cold like this?” He asked, amused, and I looked down at my attire with an awkward chuckle.
I was only wearing shorts and a loose top that reached my mid-thighs, which was undoubtedly underdressed for a slightly chilly area.
Before I could reply, I heard a voice. “She knows no kind of cold will bother her as long as her alphas are with her,”
Turning around, I saw Ericson walking towards me with a smirk.
“Alphas?” I asked and he quirked his brows.
“Don't you think we are alphas among all the men?” He asked. I smiled before shaking my head.
“Where is your brother?” I asked, not wanting to discuss anything explicit before someone else, and Ericson pointed towards another direction where I saw Dylan talking to a female who looked like a soldier.
“I was out here for a walk. Accompany me?” I asked him.
Ericson smiled before intertwining his fingers with mine.
“That would be my pleasure,” He said, pulling me close as we started to walk.
We didn't talk about anything in particular; we just walked beside each other. It wasn't much, but this mutual silence also silenced the demons inside my heart for some reason.
“I love you, Angelica,” Ericson confessed out of nowhere, and I turned to look at him, unsure what he was thinking that led to this.
“Why would you suddenly say that?” I asked.
“No reason. I just want you to know that I love you more than my brother ever would,” Ericson grinned, and I chuckled at what he was doing.
He knew when to act cunningly since his brother wasn't here to defend himself.
I didn't know how long we had walked. Once we reached the lake, we stopped, and he pulled me closer to the shining water.
“One shouldn't put one's feet into any water body at night. We don't know what creatures are hiding inside it,” I told Ericson.
He looked at me for a few seconds before ruffling my hair.
“Trust me, this lake doesn't have any harmful creatures. If there had been one, I would've sensed it,” Ericson assured.
Though I wanted to believe him, something inside my heart still felt wary, and I smiled awkwardly.
“I know you don't know how to swim and have some kind of trauma related to deep waters. I sensed that much when that incident happened,” Ericson said.
I immediately knew what incident he was discussing and couldn't help but sigh when he mentioned Tyler and Cindy.
“I know how to swim. It's just… I indeed have some trauma related to it. I once had a stalker, an evil stalker, and he didn't stop at anything to make me his. For that, he tried to break me using different methods. Drowning me in water was one of that,” I confessed.
I don't know what compelled me to say these words. Was it because Jarvin made a move on me again, or was it the reassuring smile and comfort Ericson gave me that made me want to share this with him?
I turned to look at Ericson when I heard nothing from him. My eyes widened when I saw his dark eyes, which almost looked like they were turning black.
My heart skipped a beat and I stepped back involuntarily.
“E-Ericson, w-what’s going on?” I asked.
“What did you say? A stalker? And what did he do?” Ericson asked, and I stepped back again.
Deep down, I knew he wasn't angry at me but at Jarvin Morocco, the man who had been haunting me for so long. Seeing him like this was threatening, and my survival instincts kicked in.
I took a step back, cautiously.
“D-don’t even think about it, mate,” His voice turned deep, and I shook in my place.
He wasn't being himself anymore.
I know he warned me, but I couldn't help myself anymore as I turned to run in the opposite direction.
Grrr!!
A scream left my mouth when I heard an angry growl behind me, making me turn around just in time to see the most horrific scene that I never expected.
The man I thought comforted me and calmed my demons, turned into a large wolf right in front of me, the same kind of large wolf that had entered the house earlier.
Adrenaline rushed to my head and the urge to survive kicked in, fear engulfing my heart as I ran away.
However, it was only a few metres before I felt the wolf approaching me, and in my panic, I stumbled on my foot.
I felt these might just be my last moments as I fell on the ground and my head hit something hard, blurring my vision.
I flinched inwardly when the wolf hovered over me.
This was undoubtedly my end.
I blinked tiredly, blood clouding my vision.
“No!” someone shouted from a distance, making me turn my head to see who it was. Before I knew it, Dylan jumped in the air and pushed Ericson away from me, his body turning into a wolf.
“What did you do?!” Dylan's cold voice echoed.
That was the last thing I heard before darkness took over me.
