Chapter 16 Cornered by the boss
ANGELICA'S POV
"Girl, you look dope. Have you been treating your skin with something lately? You glow like a girl in love," Madeline said, and I winked at her.
"Can you see it? It's the glow of getting into a prestigious company," I smiled.
"Oh my god, now that you have mentioned it, have you seen their faces yet? After you told me that you got selected, I did a background check-up on the company just to be on the safe side," Madeline said, and I smiled at her thoughtfulness.
"I know, right? It's a bit peculiar for such a big company to put someone in the role of secretary when they have applied for another position. I read that only selective people have seen those hot jerks. Have you gotten lucky?" David wriggled his brows, and I chuckled before denying it.
"I don't think I will ever get that lucky. It's a three-month tenure until they find themselves a good secretary. It's like a test for me. Let's just hope I don't get myself kicked out just because I got a bit too curious," I chuckled, remembering Dylan's and Ericson's muscled bodies and how they make me feel whenever I am with them.
It's like I meet someone I hardly know when I face them.
This is not like me. I don't fall for such people. I have always been the kind of girl who wants a stable relationship that can be publicly announced.
A simple and sweet romance. However, ever since I saw these two hunks, my definition of a relationship, if not love, has changed drastically.
"Hey? Are you okay? You look worn out," Matt said, nearing me and holding my hand, making me smile.
"The money doesn't come for free. You out of people should know that, no?" I smiled, and he groaned, making me chuckle even more.
I was happy for him. He got into one of the prestigious textile industries and was now working directly under the boss. It had been his dream for so long to work for them.
"It isn't easy, but it shouldn't burn you either. You look like you are barely catching any sleep," Matt said, and I hummed.
"I know, right? It's weird. I live in one of the best condos in the city, and I find it hard to sleep. Everything is so comfortable, but still, at the same time, I am always anxious. Do you think I need a warm body near me to help me sleep better?" I winked, and he rolled his eyes before pulling me closer. Then, we started to dance with our group of friends.
"So, tell me, Li. What plans do you have next week? We plan to go to the mountains. Just a little camping," Matt said, and David turned to us.
"Yeah, I completely forgot to mention it to you, Li. Will you be able to come? It would be super fun," The boys nodded, and I wanted to say yes, but I had a business trip with my bosses, and as sucky as it might sound, I was kind of looking forward to it.
"I'm sorry, guys. I'm on a business trip at that time. Let me see if we end up early. I will join if we return sooner. I seriously want to go," I looked at Matt, who smiled at me in understanding before caressing my head.
"It's okay, Li. We can always plan it later," he said.
We danced and drank a little longer before my bladder decided to be emptied, and I sighed.
"I need to use the restroom," I shouted to David over the music, and he nodded at me.
Stupid guy. The least he could do was come with me till the entrance. I don't like going to restrooms alone where I know a few creeps would be waiting for girls like me to show up.
And then I go into all fighting mode, and it puts me off for real.
I sighed and walked towards the bathroom because I couldn't wait for Matt anymore.
"Hey there, beautiful," I heard a voice as soon as I neared the bathroom, and normally, I would've been disgusted by it if not for its familiarity.
"Dylan?" I asked, and I could see an amusement dance in his eyes, even in the dark.
"What is a beautiful lady like you doing here alone? What if some bad man comes and takes advantage of you?" Dylan asked me, and something inside me wanted to be bold with him.
I mean, we were technically in a club and off working hours. Besides, it was them who gave me the liberty to act like friends with them when we were alone, no?
"Yeah? If that happens, I would readily let him take advantage of me. I am into bad boys. Didn't you know that?" I rolled my eyes.
"Now, if you would excuse me, I really need to use the washroom," I said, and he let me go, not before following me.
"Don't want some really bad-bad guy to show up and hurt my secretary-friend, no?" He mused, and I felt my heart skipping a beat when he looked into my eyes so intensely.
I walked inside the washroom and used the toilet before having a good look at myself. I looked presentable enough. Thank God all the dancing didn't turn me into a raccoon.
"What's taking you so long?" Dylan's voice came from outside, and I was about to walk to the exit when he came inside, making me raise my brows.
"Dylan, this is a ladies' washroom," I stuttered when I saw him looking at me with that predatory gaze he always gives me.
The gaze that makes me want him to turn into a predator and eat me like a - I coughed at my trail of thoughts before walking past him.
However, before I could take another step, he held my hand and pushed me against the wall, not before leaning his body against mine, surprising me.
