Chapter 73

Chapter 73

At this moment, the competition's drama had already swept across the entire internet through all kinds of reports.

#Queen's real identity is actually Charlotte, the heiress of the Johnson family!#

#World Design Competition exposed in massive plagiarism scandal!#

#Contestants Chloe and Mandy score 0 points#

Several loaded hashtags completely dominated the top of trending lists on all platforms, sparking countless discussions!

At this moment, Charlotte was sitting calmly in the back seat of the car, staring blankly at the constantly changing scenery outside the window.

"That was so satisfying, Charlotte! You didn't see it - when Chloe and Mandy got kicked out, they looked like drowned rats. I bet they won't be able to cause any more trouble!"

Jason in the driver's seat was so excited his face turned red, not hiding the excitement in his voice at all.

Pulled back from her thoughts by his voice, Charlotte didn't respond. Instead, she picked up her phone and turned on the screen.

Countless messages and missed calls flooded in - some congratulating her, some seeking the truth, and some from various business partners.

Charlotte ignored them all. Just as she was about to close it, her phone suddenly vibrated again. A message came from a number with no saved name.

[Done with work? Waiting for you to come home for dinner.]

Just a simple sentence, yet it made her heart inexplicably beat faster.

After a moment of silence, her fingertips danced across the screen.

"On my way!"

After doing this, she slowly leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes to rest.

The driver noticed her movement and immediately shut his mouth, suppressing his excitement.

Soon, the car smoothly entered the villa gates. From a distance, Charlotte saw a familiar figure standing at the entrance.

Instantly, her brows furrowed.

"Benjamin? What's he doing here?"

When Jason saw him, he wrinkled his nose in disgust.

"Ignore him, just drive past." Charlotte's eyes darkened slightly as she gave the order without hesitation.

"Okay."

Charlotte thought that when Benjamin saw the car didn't stop, he would have the sense to leave.

But unexpectedly, he actually went around to the side door of the garage and blocked her path.

"You don't want to see me?"

The man's voice was low, his gaze particularly dark.

Hearing his questioning tone, Charlotte let out a cold laugh, looking at him with mockery in her eyes: "I thought you couldn't tell."

Stung by the sarcasm, Benjamin's expression grew even uglier.

He stared at Charlotte for a while before speaking through gritted teeth: "I never thought you were actually Queen! You hid it well enough."

Charlotte couldn't be bothered to waste words with him here. After rolling her eyes, she turned to leave.

But unexpectedly, the next moment, the man grabbed her wrist.

His tone was angry, his grip so strong it felt like he wanted to crush her wrist bones: "Stop right there! You haven't answered me! Why didn't you tell me you were Queen!"

At this, Charlotte's expression immediately turned cold.

She yanked hard, shaking off his hand, her tone icy: "Why should I tell you? Who are you to me?"

"I..."

Those two simple sentences left Benjamin with all his prepared accusations stuck in his throat.

In his mind, if he had known Charlotte was the famous Queen, how could he have fallen for Chloe who only knew how to plagiarize? How could he have agreed to the engagement?

As if reading his thoughts, Charlotte suddenly took a step forward, tilting her head slightly to look at the man before her, asking word by word, "Benjamin, don't you think too highly of yourself?"

"Whether in the past or now, I have nothing to do with you. Get lost right now, or don't blame me for calling security!"

With that, she said no more and walked away directly.

Leaving Benjamin standing there, his face alternating between shades of green and white.

He stared intently at the departing figure, his fists ultimately clenching uncontrollably.

At this time, Charlotte had already opened the door and entered the foyer.

As she was taking off her shoes, the aroma of food drifted into her nostrils, mixed with the warm orange glow of lights, completely enveloping her.

"You're back?"

Alexander heard the sound and walked over from the dining room.

The man was wearing casual home clothes, his usually neat and styled hair now particularly soft and smooth. Combined with the bear-patterned apron, he really did have the air of a house husband.

"Go wash your hands and come eat. Everything's ready."

Hearing this, Charlotte came to the dining table. Looking at the table full of delicious-looking dishes, she couldn't help but be a bit surprised.

"You made all this?"

Alexander nodded, with a slight smile, pulling out the chair beside her: "Just learned today. Watched the tutorial several times. Had one kitchen mishap, but fortunately it turned out okay."

The man spoke lightly. As Charlotte sat down, from the corner of her eye she caught sight of the slightly red burn mark on his hand between thumb and index finger. She immediately understood but chose not to call it out.

"Really? Then you're pretty impressive."

Hearing her praise, Alexander smiled and ladled a bowl of soup for her, pushing it over: "Try it."

Charlotte picked up a spoon, took a sip, and a flash of surprise crossed her eyes.

Sweet, soft, and smooth - really not like something a first-time cook could make!

She couldn't help but praise it in her heart, though her words were casual: "Not bad."

Yet the man seemed to have received some great compliment, the corners of his mouth lifting briefly before returning to normal.

He picked up his utensils and placed a piece of spare rib in Charlotte's bowl.

"I watched the live stream of the World Design Competition today... You did great."

At these words, Charlotte was somewhat surprised, glancing up at him: "You watched the live stream too?"

"Yeah, my assistant sent me the link."

The man nodded, then paused: "Watched it from start to finish."

Charlotte naturally didn't miss the hidden tenderness in his words, but she didn't respond. Instead, she changed the subject.

"You should eat too, or it'll get cold."

"Okay."

During the meal, Alexander kept serving Charlotte food, his movements natural and practiced.

"Is it to your taste? If you like it, I can make it again."

Hearing the man's words, Charlotte looked at him with a half-smile: "So you're planning to be my house husband from now on?"

"Why not?"

When he said this, the man's expression was extremely serious.

That focused look made Charlotte's heart flutter for a moment.

But she quickly lowered her lashes, laughed softly, and stood up to clear the dishes.

"Let me."

The man reached out to stop her, his fingertips inadvertently touching the back of her hand. Both their movements froze.

But he didn't pull back. Instead, he looked up, gazing steadily into Charlotte's eyes.

For a moment, the air suddenly fell silent, as if something vague was flowing around them.

Alexander's gaze moved down gently, landing on the girl's slightly pursed red lips, then he slowly leaned down.

Hot breath scattered across Charlotte's face. She could faintly smell the cedar scent on him.

In a flash, she quickly snapped back to reality, instinctively taking a step back and pulling her hand away.

"Just leave the dishes for the servants to clean up. You've had a long day too, get some rest early."

"Good night."

With that, she turned and hurried upstairs.

Watching that figure disappear, Alexander let out a soft laugh, his gaze falling on his index finger, gently rubbing it.
