Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Alexander had no idea what Edward was up to now.

He hung up the phone. "My father has something for you. He wants you to come back right away."

Charlotte was curious too.

She had just seen Edward not long ago.

When she returned to Gold Valley Mansion, the Harris family butler led her into the living room. She saw not only Edward, but also an elderly gentleman with white hair.

The old man was thin as a rail, with bluish lips, his body hunched over in loose black shirt and trousers.

Even in his old age, he still carried an air of refined nobility.

"Charlotte, you're finally here!"

Edward pulled Charlotte over and introduced with a smile, "This is my good friend of many years, James Radcliffe."

Charlotte's gaze lingered on James's lips for a moment before she walked over to greet him.

"Mr. Radcliffe, hello."

"Good, good, good. You're so beautiful." James held onto the sofa as he stood up, picked up a jewelry box that had been prepared on the table, and handed it to Charlotte.

"Nice to meet you. This is a gift for our first meeting."

Charlotte took it and opened it.

Inside the jewelry box was a pink diamond bracelet of top quality, crafted with an eight-cut technique. The main diamond was about twelve carats.

Charlotte recognized it immediately—this bracelet had been bought at a jewelry auction two years ago as a collector's item.

It was said that the pink diamond on the bracelet was found by a noble princess's husband after searching for three whole years before their wedding. He had it specially made for the princess and named it Pink Moon Love.

Charlotte had been interested in this bracelet at the time and had specifically gone to the auction, but ended up missing it due to traffic and rain.

Giving away a bracelet worth millions right off the bat—wasn't that too extravagant?

Charlotte closed the jewelry box and returned it to James.

"This gift is far too valuable. I can't accept it, and I don't deserve it."

James immediately became anxious. "What are you saying? If I'm giving it to you, you deserve it. Please keep it! Besides... I came here this time because I need your help."

He showed a troubled expression and looked at Edward.

Edward spoke up. "Charlotte, last time when I had that sudden heart attack and was hospitalized, you saved me. I know you have excellent medical skills. Can you take a look at James? He's been feeling unwell for over a year. The doctors checked and said there's nothing wrong with his heart, but he feels uncomfortable every day, and they can't find the cause."

Charlotte finally understood.

This was both a greeting gift and a medical fee.

She really did want this bracelet.

Charlotte stepped forward. "Please sit down. Let me take a look."

James's eyes lit up, and he quickly sat down.

Charlotte had already noticed his abnormal lip color earlier. Generally, people with heart problems have darker lips than normal.

She bent down and pulled up James's upper eyelid to look. "Stethoscope."

The butler quickly opened the household medical kit and handed over the stethoscope.

Charlotte put on the stethoscope and listened to James's heartbeat frequency.

After half a minute, she put away the stethoscope.

"Abnormal heart structure. At a certain age, when organs age, uncomfortable symptoms start to appear—difficulty breathing, inconvenient to move around too much."

Structural abnormality?

After hearing this, no one understood.

Edward asked, "Is there any way to treat it?"

Charlotte took out a small bottle of medicine from her bag and handed it to James.

"Just take one pill."

James took it in confusion.

This—one pill and he'd be better?

He looked at Edward.

Edward smiled. "Don't worry! I was nearly dead at the time, and Charlotte saved me. You can't go wrong listening to her!"

With those words, James felt reassured. He poured out a small black pill from the bottle and swallowed it.

The butler handed him a glass of water.

James took a few sips and sat down.

Charlotte glanced at her watch. "Let's wait five minutes."

She sat on the opposite sofa, took out her phone, and started replying to work emails to pass the time.

Under her management, the Langley Group's sales department had now gotten on track, with order volume steadily rising.

In just three days, they had exceeded last month's performance.

She wondered what her cousin Nora was doing every day.

At least she wasn't like before, doing nothing and just wandering around the office area.

Charlotte scrolled to the bottom of her emails and found a work schedule sent by Lily.

Tomorrow was Friday, and she needed to go to the company to evaluate the employees' work performance for the week.

Five minutes passed quickly.

Charlotte looked up. "Mr. Radcliffe, how do you feel?"

James was leaning back on the sofa with his eyes closed, not responding.

Edward and the butler exchanged glances, both looking a bit nervous.

The butler carefully stepped forward and pushed James's shoulder. "James, say something. Are you asleep or feeling unwell?"

James still didn't move.

The butler's face went pale with fright. "Could... could he be dead?"

"You're the one who's dead!"

James opened his eyes and glared at him irritably.

The butler breathed a sigh of relief, breaking out in a cold sweat. "Then why weren't you moving or talking?"

"Yes, how do you feel?" Edward leaned on his cane and moved closer two steps. "Hey? Why aren't your lips blue anymore?"

James laughed heartily. "That's because I'm better! Completely better!"

He changed completely from his earlier listless state, stood up and moved his arms around, walked two circles around the table, his face flushed with excitement.

"Amazing! What kind of medicine is this? It's amazing!"

James walked and felt his body. "I can breathe smoothly now, and I have energy all over! Do you know? It's been so long since I've felt this good!"

"You're completely better just like that?" The butler's jaw nearly dropped.

Edward felt proud and happy, letting out a pleased hum. "I told you, Charlotte is a miracle doctor! The best medical skills in the whole world!"

James quickly walked up to Charlotte, his eyes reddening with emotion. "Charlotte, do you know? I used to love going for walks. This past year with my heart problems, I couldn't even go to the back garden at home!"

"I never expected that one pill from you could make me better. What exactly is this thing?"

Charlotte smiled slightly. "It's a health and heart protection pill I developed myself. It promotes blood circulation in the heart and strengthens heart and lung function through its medicinal effects. You don't need treatment or surgery—just one heart protection pill a day, and you'll get better."

"Really!"

James was both surprised and delighted, grabbing Charlotte's hand. "Good child, from today on you're my granddaughter!"

"What granddaughter? She already has one grandfather, and I haven't even managed to claim her yet. It's not your turn!" Edward was afraid he'd steal Charlotte away and quickly pulled her back.

James looked disappointed. "Who? Who's so lucky!"

Edward snorted. "Daniel."

"It's actually him?"

James looked envious. "Can he take good care of Charlotte? The Radcliffe family has lots of people, it's lively, and we have money. Charlotte, won't you come to my house?"

"If she's coming anywhere, it's to my house. I knew her first!"

Edward protected Charlotte behind him, his mind set on bringing Charlotte and his son together.

The two argued right in front of Charlotte, and now that their bodies had energy, they argued quite loudly too.

Charlotte felt both helpless and amused, quietly taking the Pink Moon Love bracelet.

The next day, she went to the Langley Group.

But just as she arrived at the sales department, a man's voice suddenly rang out behind her.

"Wait! That bracelet on your hand—is that Pink Moon Love?"
