Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Charlotte narrowed her eyes.

Completely capable of defeating her?

Where did they get that confidence?

It seemed she had been out of the spotlight for too long - so long that these people had forgotten that when she lost to S back then, she had competed while running a fever, hooked up to an IV drip, and having only slept five hours.

Charlotte immediately accepted the challenge, replying under the post.

[Already registered on the official website. You better not cry and beg me to go easy on you when the time comes.]

The other party's invitation was worded in a way that completely looked down on Charlotte.

Similarly, Charlotte's reply was even more contemptuous and brimming with confidence.

As soon as she posted this comment, it was full of fighting spirit.

The entire forum exploded.

[Oh my god, Zero came out to respond!]

[So arrogant. Looks like she doesn't take S seriously at all.]

[They're both arch-rivals, how could she possibly take the other person seriously? Just wait and watch them compete head-to-head at the competition.]

[The final round of this hacking competition seems to allow participants to choose to attend in person. Do you think Zero and S will both come? Will they run into each other? They won't get into a fight, will they?]

[Probably not. Zero is a woman. Even if S is her arch-rival, he couldn't possibly hit a woman in person.]

[Besides, I feel like Zero would be the one crying on the spot because she lost and can't handle it.]

[Zero crying? Well, I'm really looking forward to that. It would definitely be quite a sight.]

Jason saw these mocking comments about Charlotte from the hackers and immediately became furious.

"These people who never try to improve themselves and can't even rank on the hacker leaderboard dare to make fun of you? You're the last person who would cry! As for them, I'm going to hack into their accounts right now and stop them from posting this nonsense!"

Just as Jason was about to show off his skills, Charlotte stopped him.

"Forget it, they're just clowns. Why bother with them? We'll settle it at the competition."

Jason came to his senses and calmed down, but then worried: "So you're really going to have contact with the Langley Group?"

"I hold the majority shares in the Langley Group. I've never been in contact with the Langley family members, so I don't know if they'll genuinely welcome me home like my mom would, or if some of them have ulterior motives."

She held the shares. If she never returned home, went missing, or died abroad, then the shares her grandfather and mother left her would inevitably fall into other people's hands.

The Langley family had enormous assets and their business was among the top in the world - this was an irresistible benefit.

She didn't believe everyone in the Langley family would genuinely welcome her back like her mother and grandparents. She even felt some people might secretly hope she would never return.

That way they could get a huge share of the assets.

Victoria only had her as a daughter. If she disappeared, the shares could only go to other younger family members.

Jason also thought what she said made sense.

"Alright, then go take a look. Don't let some people covet things that don't belong to them."

Charlotte curved her lips: "Yeah, I'll report there tomorrow."

After hanging up, she went to shower and rest.

On the other side.

At the desk in a spacious study, Alexander leaned back in his leather chair, looking at the extremely arrogant message on his computer screen, slowly curving his lips.

"Interesting."

The butler came in to hand him a cup of tea and asked curiously: "What's interesting?"

Alexander rubbed his temples: "Nothing, it's been a long time since I've met such an interesting person."

The butler smiled: "Mr. Edward Harris said that Ms. Johnson was wronged here today, and we must give her a gift no matter what. He wants you to buy it and personally go apologize."

"A gift must be bought, as for going in person..."

Alexander's eyes deepened slightly, "I might as well go now."

The butler was surprised for a moment: "You're going to see Ms. Johnson now?"

Alexander stood up: "What? Is there a problem?"

"No, no problem."

A flash of surprise crossed the butler's eyes. He had never seen Alexander personally visit any woman before.

Even though Charlotte had a close relationship with Edward, there were very few people worth him visiting in person like this.

And it was so late, yet he still wanted to go.

His eyes held some surprise, not knowing what was going on.

Before he could snap out of it, Alexander had already gotten up and headed to his destination.

When he arrived, he raised his hand and knocked on the door.

The butler saw Alexander, unable to hide his surprise, and quickly stepped aside: "Mr. Harris, please come in."

Alexander paused, then followed him inside.

Charlotte had already finished her shower and was about to go to bed. Wearing a white camisole nightgown that only reached her thighs, she had just opened her bedroom door when she came face to face with a figure in the living room.

Their eyes met, and Alexander's gaze fell on her.

Charlotte immediately retreated back into her room and put on a white cardigan before coming out again.

Her eyes held some anger and annoyance: "Mr. Harris, visiting late at night without giving advance notice so people can be prepared?"

"My apologies."

Alexander lowered his gaze, "Sorry, I was careless today. I'll definitely be more careful next time."

As soon as the butler came in and saw this scene, he immediately understood and also apologized.

"I'm sorry, Miss. I didn't come upstairs to inform you in advance. I didn't know you were showering."

"Forget it."

Charlotte pulled her coat tighter around herself and said coolly, "Just say whatever you came to say."

Alexander stood up: "My father said today's incident caused you some trouble, so he asked me to come apologize in person. After all, Mandy and the others wrongly accused you about the falling into water incident, saying you pushed them in without understanding the actual situation."

Charlotte's eyes flickered slightly.

Alexander clearly knew the truth about the matter - knew that she was the one who caused Mandy to fall into the water.

Yet he not only spoke up for her but also made a special trip to visit.

What was this man thinking?

Charlotte wasn't sure of Alexander's true purpose, so she played dumb along with his words.

"Please tell Mr. Edward Harris there's no need to feel apologetic about this. Ms. Miller only said that because she was in shock from falling into the water and wasn't thinking clearly. It's so late now, you can go back. I don't want to affect your rest."

Alexander found it amusing and curved his lips: "Alright, then rest well. I won't disturb you anymore."

Just as he was about to leave, he paused again, "By the way, if you have contact with your teacher again next time, please let me know."

"Teacher?"

Charlotte was confused for a moment, unable to figure out who this teacher he was talking about was.

Alexander narrowed his eyes, his probing gaze touching her face briefly before withdrawing.

He remained composed and reminded her softly: "Zero."
