Chapter 48
I changed into some Pjs knowing I had drained a lot of my energy baring my soul.
“The person I see in front of me is nothing like the one the person I met.”
I looked at him basically staring at me so proud. He walked over and placed his hands on my hips.
“She was guarded with this wall so far up. But slowly I saw them break down one brick at a time.”
I smiled up at him just completely in love with this man in front of me. He walked away and headed for the nightstand. He pulled it out and pulled out a box and my hands clamped over my mouth. He looked down at it, shaking it lightly.
“I’ve been holding onto this box for about a year now. Finding the right time to do it. I never found a better time than now. I was wanting something extreme but that’s not who you are, and it never has been.”
He walked over to me and there were tears in my eyes now.
“I’ve loved you once and each day that I spend with you and fall helplessly in love more.”
He bent down in front of me on one knee.
“Ryleigh, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife, my Luna, my everything?”
I couldn’t stop the sobs from coming down knowing that this is everything I wanted and more. Speechless was an understatement. But one thing's for sure is I never wanted anything more than this. I nodded my head excessively. He grabbed my hand and placed the ring on my finger and stood up to bring me into a long and passionate kiss. I surely knew all my dreams were coming true. But sometimes good things come to an end when you least expect them to. Life is like a rose. It’s beautiful, colorful, filled with love, but it has thorns that protect it and with one wrong move it can make you bleed.
That morning, I woke up feeling brand new. Like there is nothing that can ruin my mood as much as they try. I stared at this man that I loved so much and realized we were getting married. I stared more until his eyes started to flutter open.
“Morning,” he said.
But he had the low voice he used that made my legs weak. I think he read my mind while he pulled me on top of him and brought my mouth to his.
“I love you,” he mumbled to me.
“I love you too, fiancé,” I said with a smile. Things were starting to get heated but a knock on the door stopped us. The door opened and it was one of the maids.
“Sorry to bother you Alpha but the King asks for you and Kyla.” We both let out a heavy sigh.
“We will be down in a bit.” She closed the door.
“Can’t allow the king to wait.” He said with a sarcastic tone. After we showered and changed, we made our way downstairs into the fighting grounds. Alizac was out practicing with the pack.
“Alpha,” Anthony said, which stopped him in his tracks. He walked over to us and just stared us down. Straight ahead Jax was leaning against the tree keeping his distance.
“Alpha, you do know it’s the law to be wedded after a certain number of years as Alpha?”
Here we go. It’s always going to be something with them.
“I do know that, but this is my pack and the decisions I make are none of your concern. It’s not your job to tell me the rules.” It’s like a wind of testosterone that fills the outside. I mean this is all happening because of me, and I just didn’t have any words.
“I am your King, maybe you have forgotten that. I can take this away from you for not abiding by the rules or I’d just have to teach you a lesson.” He spattered.
They were in each other’s faces, and I knew I had to step in right now. I had placed my hands on both of their chests to give them space.
“What the heck is that?”
He was looking down at my hand and I forgot I had the ring there.
“Ryleigh, what the hell is that!?” He asked again.
“He asked me to marry him. I said yes.” Jax was now standing up straight throwing daggers at me. Alizac was just as angry.
“You don’t think I’d allow you to marry this clown?” Now I was the one in his face.
“I don’t need your permission. I am going to because I love him. I never loved you or Jax because you never gave me the opportunity to. I asked you to leave. Now do so.”
Heavy breathing and racing hearts that could set even the calmest person off.
“You’re coming back with us Ryleigh,” Jax said, which only made me laugh. There they go again pretending like I was a pawn to their game.
“No. My family is here. This is my pack, and I am going to officially be their Luna. So, I am saying this now and I am not saying it again. Leave.”
A hand grabbed my wrist to pull me, but Anthony ripped me back.
“You will not touch her without her permission. You’re not used to being told no apparently.” Everything happened in such a blur when a wolf came flying by me knocking him to the ground. Jax was on top of him while Alizac had held me back. He was strong but I wasn’t going to give up. They both were fighting.
“He could never protect you as we can. Stop acting like a stupid girl.” Something in me snapped finally. I managed to shove him off me.
“I am not a stupid girl.” I jumped into the middle of them and shifted. Ready to protect my mate from my other mate.
