Your money or your life?
~Daisy~
Daisy snorts at his deadpan tone and blank expression. "Why not? It'll be fun."
"No," he frowns, glancing down at her and then at two screaming girls working with a VR set. "No, it won't."
"Yes, it will," she goes to grab this hand. "Come on. Gabriel," she whines when he refuses to move. Honestly, she has no idea why she's acting like a ten year old trying to convince their mum to let them eat one more candy after taking one too many. It's fun seeing him look annoyed by what she's doing though so she continues with the purest intention of making him properly frustrated.
"Daisy," he starts, pulling her towards himself when she tries to move forward again. Holding her by her waist so she doesn't stumble, he continues, "you don't want to play games with me."
Oh his perfume smells good. Which one is he using? Knowing him, it must be something very expensive. She blinks up at his hazel eyes with a smile. "I do." Taking the initiative, she wraps her hands around his torso. "That's the whole point of coming here," she mumbles, placing her chin on his chest.
It's funny how he still towers over her with a few inches despite the fact that she's on heels. Out of all her three mates, Gabriel has to be the tallest... right? She'd have to get them all in one place to at least measure it. Her smile becomes wider at the thought of her three mates standing in a line. They'd have stoic expressions on their faces as she uses the measuring tape as a whip.
Thinking about that makes her recall the fact that she called Alexander over twenty times and he didn't pick up or call back. Her mood deflates all of a sudden.
"I don't want to," Gabriel grumbles, pulling out of her own head.
She hums, feeling the urge to climb this man like a monkey would a tree. What is it about his furrowed brows and irritated face that makes her feel so stupidly playful? "Again you haven't told me why." She squeezes him, blinking innocently when he gives her a look. "Are you terrible at playing games?"
He scoffs and it turns into a wheeze when she squeezes him harder. "No," he lets out, prying her hands off his torso.
She goes back to restricting his airflow again the moment he lets go of her hand. "Then you've got nothing to worry about," she smiles when he groans, already looking exasperated. This is easier than she thought it would be.
"Why can't we watch a movie like normal couples?"
"I don't want us to be normal. Normal is boring," she shrugs, eyeing his hair next. He had snapped her hair band yesterday. She could scatter his hair as payback. How funny would it be to see the male walking around with his hair looking like he got electrocuted?
"Still-"
"Come on, Gabes. Don't be a buzz kill," she taunts, swiftly attacking his hair.
Unfortunately his reflexes are faster and he catches her hand before she can succeed. "First off, no to the nickname," he twirls her around, pinning her hand behind her back. "Second off, I'm just looking out for you, trust me," he says, gently pushing her forward.
Huffing, she tries not to think about how hot he was just now. The fact that he allowed her to manhandle him briefly last night when he could easily restrain her any time he wanted sends a jolt of electricity directly to her core.
"Okay. Fine. Let's go watch a movie," she relents, slowly walking past him. "I'm thinking Puss In Boots: The Last Wish since you're spineless," she says dismissively, smirking when he catches her wrist. She schools her face when he turns her around by her shoulders. She has to admit, the pissed off frown on his face is so sexy.
Jesus, is she horny or something? What's with these thoughts?
"Excuse me?"
Daisy ignores the audience they're attracting in the hallway in front of the arcade room and takes a step forward fearlessly. She enjoys how his natural scent has elevated over the perfume. "Spineless," she repeats, trying to control her breathing when his aura gets heavier. The excitement of provoking the Alpha makes her wolf feel jumpy. It's an adrenaline and dopamine rush that she could easily get used to while being with Gabriel. "You know, a scaredy cat? It's fine. I would have beat you hands down anyway. No use having an angry loser on our first date."
He snarls, his eyes briefly turning gold. "The only loser here will be you when I kick your ass at every single game there is."
No really, this is way too easy. "That's a really big talk right there, Alpha. Think you can back it up?"
"Oh I know I can." He lets go of her shoulders. His aura is strangely calm compared to how it was only a few seconds ago.
"Fine." She makes a fist and stretching it out between them. "Rock, paper, scissors. Winner decides the starting game," she explains, pressing her lips together in amusement when he eyes her hand like it's beneath him. Knowing him, he's probably thinking about how childish her suggestion is. Then again, he doesn't want to back down or lose anything to her so he looks around. When he sees people are no longer taking an interest in them, he begrudgingly sticks his fist out too.
Daisy snorts at his expression. He's about as skittish as a drug dealer making their first sale. Shaking her head at him, they play the game. She grins when she shows a scissors and he makes a paper. Slapping his chest, she walks into the arcade room. "Let's shoot some balloons."
Taking two hurried steps to catch up with her, he grumbles, "That was beginner's luck."
"Yeah, sure." She stops in front of the counter by the right of the entrance.
Gabriel gets them a couple bracelet that allows the place monitor the games they play and the pricing for easy payment. They can't play any games without the bracelet.
Confidently walking over to the guns, she chooses an assault rifle. Twirling it around, she cocks the gun and points it at her mate. "Your money or your life?"
He lifts a brow at her and says nothing as he chooses a pistol.
Lowering the gun, she pouts. "That's no fun. Come on, play along."
He places his bracelet under the sensor of the machine and the game starts up. There are about twenty small pear shaped balloons lodged in a wheel and another fifteen on a flat surface. He types in the exact amount of ammunition he needs and takes the spot one machine away from her. "Arm yourself. Let's do this."
Daisy cocks her head back. Jesus. Serious, much? Shaking her head, she does the same and loads her gun. Taking a deep breath, she focuses her attention on the balloons as the game starts counting down.
Three.
The wheel's speed isn't as high as she had thought it would be. It'll be easy to get those after she's done with the motionless ones.
Two.
Or should she alternate? What if the ones on the flat surface can actually move? That seems more plausible. It's too obvious and easy if it doesn't move.
One.
Eh. She'd just have to find out while playing.
Start!
As soon as she reads that, her finger subconsciously pulls the trigger. Quickly moving her eyes from one balloon to another, the fake bullets follow and hit the target without missing each time. She doesn't bother looking at Gabriel or turning to see who gasped behind her until both the wheel and the flat surface are void of balloons.
Perfect score!
Blinking, she frowns at the words on the machine. That's it? No tricks, no catch, no nothing, just that? Humans. Always the simpletons... that's either it or that one day with Alexander's family has made her paranoid for the rest of her life.
Shaking her head, Daisy turns to Gabriel to find that he also has a perfect score. It's a tie for the first round. Huh.
So he wasn't just boasting.
"This game is too easy," Gabriel says, dropping the gun.
Daisy nods. "I agree. Since it's a tie, you choose this time."
He looks around him and points to something by their left.
"Darts?" She asks and he nods. So he likes games that are aim dependent. Good to know.
The dart game is only a bit more challenging than the last one. There are ten targets and each one moves from left to right and back again at different times. Some move faster than the others. Above the targets is a scoreboard. She can guess that the bullseye will be ten points and that's all that matters because that's what she's going to get.
Wiggling the ten darts in her left hand around, she hits bullseye on the third target as soon as the game starts. That's the slowest one so it's not that impressive but the people who gathered behind her and Gabriel to watch don't share her sentiments. Lifting her brows when she sees twenty points, she nods. Two hundred points it is then.
Knowing better than to check out her opponent, she hits bullseye on the fifth one which is the fastest one. The others are a breeze in the park for her...at least it would have been if she hadn't imagined the bullseye being Alexander's face in a sudden bout of anger. It worked for the ninth dart as one hundred and eighty pops up on her scoreboard but not the last one. The imagery of him looking pale, stuttering and running like his tail was on fire flashes through her mind and throws her aim off by just a millimetre. Such a small difference but it's more than enough to get her in the black ring after bullseye.
The crowd behind her voices out her disappointment as she sees one hundred and ninety five on her scoreboard.
"Yes!"
