Oh. Oh. Oh my God!
~Daisy~
"I'm sorry, what?" Daisy blinks, dumbfounded as she stares at the man in front of her like he has grown three heads in less than two seconds. Is she hallucinating? She's not sure she heard that correctly because there's no way this man just confirmed he's a werewolf and an Alpha at that.
"You didn't really think I was human, did you?" He asks, a coy smile playing on his lips.
She recognizes that tone. He's teasing her. He knows that's exactly what she thought and who could blame her? "I- you-" she stutters, unable to form a complete sentence. Like always, he just sits there, lifting his sexy eyebrows and waiting patiently for her to talk. In her moment of stupor, she feels something. It's a brooding feeling surrounding her and tugging on her wolf. No way. Is that… "Your aura-"
"Right, about that. It's a talent the Alphas of my family possess."
Talent? Is that how he managed to hide his hierarchy so well? It's usually easy to tell werewolves apart from humans. Their aura is just different. Whenever two werewolves are in a room, there's always a shift. It's even more obvious with Alpha wolves. Yet, with him, there was nothing. No scent, no shift. Nada. "So that time when you spoke about werewolves..." Her words fade into the air as her mind grapples to connect the dots she had been missing ever since she met him.
"I was playing with you." He gives her an apologetic look when her eyes snap to him. "Not my best moment or greatest idea but yeah. I'm sorry for the scare."
"So, you're a werewolf and of Alpha hierarchy?" She recounts, trying to consolidate her thought process and power through the headache creeping up right now. It doesn't help that the weirdly pleasant scent she sensed when she came in is getting stronger and making her stomach quizzy.
He nods curtly. "Yes."
Taking a deep breath, she focuses on satisfying her curiosity. "Where is your pack located?"
"New Orleans."
She frowns. "I don't hear the accent."
"I lost it over the years from traveling around and trying to fit in." He shrugs, keeping his intense gaze on her when the waiter sets two cups of chamomile tea and lemon tarts on their table.
Daisy glances at the cups. He must have ordered it when he came in. So he really wasn't joking when he said he wanted to try tea. Not allowing herself to go off track, she pushes down the urge to make a cheeky comment about his drink choice. "Is it your work as a graphics designer that makes you travel?" She says instead, sipping the tea. She sighs at the familiar taste, knowing the immediate calmness she felt from taking the tea is purely psychological.
He shakes his head. "Not really," he says, lifting his cup to take a tentative sip out of his cup.
She smiles when he makes a face at the tea. Her body suddenly jolts and her heart rate increases as her wolf tries to claw its way to the surface. Staring at her reflection in the tea, she sighs in relief when she sees her eyes are normal and not a glowing amber. Dropping her tea cup on the table, her olfactory senses recognize the now strong scent from earlier.
All through this, Micheal stares at her calmly. "Are you okay?"
She can hear the hint of concern in his tone despite his neutral expression. Waving her hand in dismissal, her wolf howls within her the more she takes in that scent. "No, I'm fine. I just..." Fuck. She groans when the scent has a tinge of musk with it that makes her legs weak. "Something smells so good." Subconsciously sniffing the air, she traces it to the man in front of her. "What kind of perfume did you use?" She drawls, her eyes flickering until it closes. Her head feels fuzzy and her body hot.
Leaning forward eagerly, Micheal asks, "What does it smell like?"
"Like bergamot and meadow breeze," she hums, her body already singing something familiar. Something that has already happened twice in her lifetime.
"How do you feel about the scent?"
Opening her eyes, she stares at Micheal's eyes. The deep blue seems darker with an emotion she can't decipher with how scatter brained she feels at the moment. "As embarrassing as this sounds, it's a huge turn on."
"I knew it," Micheal sighs in relief, a happy and tender smile on his face.
"That I'm a hoe?" She jokes.
"No," he chuckles. "That's my scent."
That... What? "I thought you didn't have a scent?" Her nose isn't broken. It works just fine so how could she not have sniffed this heavenly scent out if it has been his all along? All she ever got from him was the sassafras scent. That's a far cry from this.
"I do. I just mask it but that's not the point. I'm a Delvini Alpha. That may not mean anything to you but my lineage consist of special Alphas with pheromones too potent, they irritate wolves of all hierarchies including other Alphas. The only one who can stand my scent without shifting, running wild or getting into fight mode is my mate."
So he has a very strong scent. "O...Kay?" She blinks at him when he gives her a look. Her eyes shift from side to side awkwardly before coming back to him. Why is he- "Oh." His scent disorients others. That partly explains her wolf's extra reaction. But then she didn't shift or go wild or go into fight mode. If anything she feels like jumping him so that leaves- "Oh. Oh. Oh my God!" she gasps, covering her mouth.
Micheal nods. "Yeah. I've suspected since the first day I saw you through this cafe window. To be honest, I'm not a regular here. I hardly move around these parts. I was here on business but the minute I caught your sweet clove scent, I just had to talk to you. You ground me. Whenever I'm having a bad day, all it takes is the thought of your playful grin to brighten up my day."
Reporting live from today's special episode on romantic confessions from handsome mates, Mr. Micheal Delvini has stepped up to the podium. And Daisy cannot decide whose is better. "I feel relaxed and at peace with you. I've always had an inexplicable pull to you too but..." I never realized you were the third one all along.
"Your three men?" He asks, his aura darkening.
Chills creep up her spine when she senses it. She thinks back to the last time they spoke physically. He made the exact same face then. Was this what he was masking underneath his stare and smile? Shaking the feeling off, she speaks. "Two actually. You're the third...mate."
The atmosphere around him becomes light and his face scrunches up in confusion. "I don't get it. What do you mean?"
"I thought you were human. Obviously I couldn't tell you the men I spoke of were my mates," she explains. "I've been told I'm destined to have three mates. The two I constantly spoke of are my first two and ..." She trails off, gesturing to him.
"I'm the third," he completes, leaning back into his chair.
"Yes."
"How...how is that possible? I mean, I've heard of someone possibly having two mates but that usually occurs with a twin who absorbs the other in the womb and even that is incredibly rare. It's even rarer with an individual wolf but three?"
Upon hearing that, Daisy's mind instantly goes to Alexander's aunt, Tremaine. "I was shocked too. Apparently I'm a Three Mated Luna."
"Huh."
"You don't seem shocked. Do you know about it?"
"I have heard of the notion before but I don't have much of an idea on the subject," Micheal says, absent mindedly sipping on the tea again. He gags, dropping the cup and adding sugar.
Daisy stares at him, mortified by what he's doing. Resisting the urge to throw his tea away and possibly smack him, she continues the conversation. "I met my pack seer and she said I have to choose between the three of you and choose rightly otherwise something bad will happen. I don't know what she means by that till now and I'm so confused. Why have three mates if I'm just supposed to choose one?"
"Sounds like someone wants three men all to herself," he smirks, happily drinking his atrocity in a cup.
"Oh please," she half scoffs half chuckles. "It's already exhausting with two. I don't know how I'm supposed to manage three." Three very handsome men.
Oh dear God, that's Lisa talking in her head.
"But you don't think you can choose, do you?" He says it as a statement not a question.
How does he always seem to know what she's thinking?
She sighs. "I don't know yet. I don't know anything."
"Neither do I. What you say we find out together?"
Looking up at him in surprise, she asks, "Really?"
"Indeed. You're interested in finding out and I'm interested in spending time with you. It's a win-win situation," he shrugs, running his hand through his hair.
Yep. He definitely looks more attractive now that she can smell him. "Bold."
"I came late. There's no time to play coy," he says simply, dropping the empty cup on the table.
"It's a deal."
"So, do I want to meet my probable competitors?" He asks, leaning back into the chair.
"I don't know, do you?" She smirks, lifting her tea to her lips.
He mirrors her smirk. "I wonder."
