Erica silently turned from side to side on her bed as she couldn’t understand why she felt this way when suddenly she had another nightmare and in her new nightmares things were different and Beatrice went missing….she woke up and became scared immediately that someone might have taken Beatrice because she stood up for her.
Erica couldn’t wait till morning and rushed into loki room, waking him up as she explains her dream vividly to him.
Erica dialed Beatrice's number and the dialer rang for a while but then it dropped. She grabbed Loki instinctively, her heart sinking. She had trillions of thoughts flowing through her head. She didn't want to think too much about the issue, but she was afraid. Her mind wanted an escape, prompting her to dial again. Once again, the phone rang but it dropped almost immediately.
Tears rolled freely down her cheeks. "Is she…?" She looked up at Loki who was just staring blankly at her. He held this confident gaze that made her wipe the tears off her face. It was like her father was telling her to shut it.
"Let us move," he said. "Beatrice is way too smart, she is probably dropping the call so she doesn't alert them to her location."
She found complete sense in what he said and she stopped thinking, mostly because she wouldn't dare accept the other option. They moved together through the woods, Loki had his claws and fangs out and his eyes held a golden glow. He was in his partial wolf form. He wanted to comb every area of the path they stepped into using his senses.
On the average, wolves can smell any scent up to about ten metres around them, and their hearing reached about times two of that. With Loki's naturally strong wolf blood and the fact that he had been used to the wild, and had also gone through rigorous training, he probably could do three times that. Not to talk of his vision's range.
They walked quietly for about a while, Erica also morphing into her partial wolf form. Her eyes saw in almost infrared, detecting heat signatures of sevetal creatures running through the bushes. Her scent, on the other hand, was disoriented. She needed loads of training, as she couldn't pinpoint lots of scent. Her vision however was okay, she was used to taking lonely night runs, though she stopped most of those after her parents died in the past.
After a while, Loki turned to her. "We go west," he said, sprinting forward as Erica followed, both of them getting on all fours as they sped through the woods.
They navigated for a while before Loki stopped in a certain area. The area was filled with only Mahogany and Teaks, all of them arranged in an almost accurate spacing. Beatrice was right, it was a farm. This was probably one of the royal family's territories.
"We are near her," he said. "But we need to pinpoint her location as fast as we can." he added.
Erica turned back to her humane form and picked up her phone. She dialed Beatrice's phone number, hoping to get through this time. The phone didn't ring when the dailer picked up. "Are you here?" the receiver asked.
Erica inhaled massively. "I… Beatrice… Thank the moon." she began, but before she could speak further,vLoki butt in.
"Where are you?" he asked, giving Erica another stern look. She nodded, realizing she was going off point.
"It is hard to describe… I am…" she winced in pain.
"What is wrong?" Loki asked.
"I have been shot," she said.
"Wolfsbane?" Loki asked.
"Silver." she confirmed.
"Burn it out if you can?" he said.
"I tried. Something else is hindering my healing," she said, coughing multiple times. "I think they can already sense my location. Their movements have steadied."
"Then roar, Beatrice, roar!" Erica yelled. "Run as much as you can afterwards. It is no use them knowing where you are and us not knowing." she scolded, her head was almost flying off. The intensity of the danger hitting her again like crashing waves.
"Okay," she paused. "Find me, Erica!" she dropped the call.
The moment the call dropped, a large roar thundered across the woods. Loki and Erica didn't even look at each other before sprinting across. Loki was on all fours immediately, while she on the other hand had to stuff in her phone before going on all fours.
They ran for a few minutes before another roar thundered through the woods. "I will leave you behind," Loki told her as the area around him got darker and darker, till even her infrared eyes couldn't pick anything anymore. When the darkness cleared, he was gone.
_What a convenient Innate power_ . Lena said.
_To bad we don't have one._
Lena didn't reply and even Erica wasn't waiting around for that, she ran towards the sound. She was in mid speed when something collided against her from the side, knocking her sideways. She crashed against a tree, a sharp pain in her back forcing air out of her lungs. She coughed and rolled to the ground.
Her head was a bit hazy as the pain still stung her. She wheezed, steadying herself and crouching lowly to get the sense of the area. Her heart slammed against her chest as she breathed gently. She had never been in a fight before, heck the last time a revenant attacked her, she was rooted to the spot. She hadn't even thought of fighting when Beatrice had called her; all her thoughts were just keeping her alive.
A low growl resonated from beside her, a wolf in full form lunged at her. She recieved the impact, catching the wolf mid air and throwing it off against a tree. The strength level was massively different and it boosted her confidence. She dashed at the wolf before it could even recover. She launched a punch at its jaw. It welped and fell unconscious, turning back to its humanoid shape.
Juat as she was done, a roar thundered across the forest again and this time it was Loki's. Erica understood. He found Beatrice.
She smiled and rushed forward, practicing what Loki had taught her. She used all her five senses, trying to get a better grasp of the enviroment as she moved towards Loki's roar. Just as she was in the middle of sprinting, she heard a clicking sound and she halted.
"Oh snap,"she cursed in realization. Before she could move, the sound of a gunshot silenced the environment.
