"Auntie, Nicolas pulled my hair again," said Esmeralda, tugging lightly at my dress.
"I didn't pull anything!"
"Yes, you did!" She said angrily to him.
"You fight like you're brothers" I said incredulously "Nicolas, you can't pull Esmeralda's hair, she's a girl"
"So it's just the boys?"
"No!" I said horrified and Lorenzo laughed beside me "What are you laughing at, you were supposed to say those things"
"Can't you see he likes her?" Lorenzo said, "It's just young love, but when Esmeralda doesn't pay attention to Nicolas, he'll do anything, even tap dance."
I laughed in disbelief. After Alexia had a daughter she named Esmeralda, after Estevan's sister who had died. The child grew up gracefully, sown in the midst of war, it seemed to put an end to it, bringing hope to the kingdom.
A year later I became pregnant with Nicolas, we were away traveling the world and I only returned towards the end of the pregnancy, staying in the castle for a year before returning to sail and do business Nicolas grew up loose in the world, after learning to walk it became difficult to control him and Lorenzo already had big plans, Nicolas seemed to be his greatest treasure where he invested a lot of time, a lot of love and dedication.
The secret about Dragon Island was shared only with me, Lorenzo and Thomas. Even though the secret was hidden for the month he spent away, Estevan began to write stories about the dragons in which he told the legend of the island of the dragons in a fictitious way, but with real details for all the people who believed that Estevan was just a faithful devotee who had a dragon by his side and that's why he created the stories.
The kingdom became calm, grew and prospered. Thomas didn't want the throne even though he was the eldest son. Estevan left him in charge of Zaim and Torrem, but Thomas spent more time in Olimper and they both seemed to want to make up for lost time.
Camila married Thomas, which came as a surprise to everyone. A little while after she recovered, they were both spotted in town and rumors started to grow. It only took a week for Camila to show up with a ring and a big smile.
She said that she already knew she would marry him because she had seen their whole future together and had waited for him for years, so she had always been close to him since his arrival at the castle.
I still missed Soraya and Acácio, but I knew they would be proud of how Olimper was doing and of the achievements of Estevan and Alexia who ruled together.
I still put flowers on their graves every year, alongside Estevan, Lorenzo and Alexia, and sometimes saw Estevan and Thomas speak fondly of their parents.
We had survived avalanches, earthquakes and now we had the life we dreamed of. Each of us had achieved happiness and prospered in the peace and joy of sowing good. I looked at Alexia and Estevan, whose little Christmas get-together, for the most intimate of us, was watered down with lots of wine, conversation and smiles, knowing that their love had gone down in history, where the kingdoms told the stories in the streets about a maid who had deceived two kingdoms by pretending to be a princess and had stolen the heart of a prince, capable of crossing wars and continents to be by her side.
