Chapter 17
Azrial made his way through the bushes and xrla walked besides him. she had her tongue hanging low out of her mouth and she was wagging her tail. He stared at her with a raised eyebrow as he said to her, “Well what has you in such a good mood today?” He asked her with a raised eyebrow and she only yipped at him in response. It was getting late and he knew that the sun was going to start to set soon enough. He knew that they would have to be quick in their hunt.
He let out a sigh from his lips as she thought back to what was happening. Over the last few months zela had become a good and loyal companion to him. He had thought that he would be able to keep her away but the wolf was stubborn and she left. He had very limited interaction with other beings over the last thousand years and although he wasn’t going to admit that it felt nice to have someone even though they had their own form of communication.
He looked towards the group of deer that was perched up in front of them as he zeroed his eyes in on the group. He looked over to see who was their right target and he noticed that one of the deer had a slight limp in her foot. He knew that she would be the perfect one.
He heard xela let out a low growl form her mouth and he chuckled slightly at hercactuonds. He guessed this was what others would call having a pet. Although had kept himself from human interaction he had been able to update himself on the times. The places around him were changing and often he would have to venture closer to other packs j order for him to be able to source out food.
He had seen how much people had evolved and grown since his time as alpha and he had to say that he was actually quite impressed. He had to admit that if his people had been alive now that he would have been able to save them with the use of modern medicine. He let out a sigh from his lips as he shook the thoughts out of his head. There was no use in him trying to dwell on his own dark and depressing thoughts.
He took a deep back from the bushes as he felt his bones begin to crack as he shifted into his wolf. Zela had been startled when she had seen him shift the first time. Part of the curse was that sometimes he was unable to control his shift. After a while she had started to adjust and had begun to get used to the sight of him shifting into his old form.
He stepped through the bushes stealthily as he watched as some of the deer pointed up their ears but they didn’t seem all too bothered by his presence there. He watched as they went back to eating the patch of grass that was in front of them.
He watched as Zela let out a loud growl and he cursed himself internally as he watched them begin to run away. He tried to grab a hold of the weaker male but even he was able to get away and he ended up receiving a firm kick to his face. He let out a loud groan from his lips as he tried to let go of the thing as he found himself falling to the floor. He scowled saying, “Well I hope that you are happy now because there goes our dinner. “He said to her as he heard their footsteps leaving as he managed to stand back up to his feet as he turned towards Zela. She still had a defensive stance and he couldn’t understand why as he looked at her in confusion. He said to her inf roust ration but she only let out another growl at him in response.
He scoffed as he rolled his eyes. “Well this is quite a sight.'' He heard a voice call out from close to him and he felt his body tense up at the sound. He knew that voice all too well and it was the very woman that had cursed him to this existence.
he turned towards her as he placed a deep scowl on his features. “I hope you here to finally put me out of my misery and kill me.” He spat and he reached out to grab a hold of her but as he had expected she didn’t even react to his advances. “i am not here to end your life. That is a gift that I don't don’t plan on depriving you of. but I do worry about you. You are one of my strongest creatures and yet you continue to condition yourself to this cursed life of solitude.” She said to him and he couldn’t help. But he let out a laugh at her choice of words.
“You call it a gift. You should have killed me a long time ago.” He spat and he watched as a small smile appeared on her face. “No, I don’t plan on killing you. you have already spent most of your time and served your punishment. Why is it that you haven’t allowed yourself to rejoin the civilizations have forgiven you and it is time for you to also forgive Yourself. “Has said to him and he almost laughed at her words. He had thought that her forgiveness would mean something to him but he had come to realize that he hadn’t saudght for it and so iunthe end it didn’t mean anything for him.
“Well I am glad to see that you have made a companion. “she spoke as she pointed towards xaela. He let out a laugh as he realized what she meant. “Is this your way of redeeming me by sending me a wolf for a pet?” He said to her blankly. “No, I have much more in store for you, just have to wait and find out. “she said to him and before he could haske her any further about what she meant he watched as she turned away from him.
“Soon enough you will be whole again. As you connect with your other half. “She said as she disappeared and he was left to ponder on her words.
