Chapter 65 Beauty Salon Branch
Radiant Beauty Spa had only been open for a little over a year, and Heather was already thinking about opening a new branch.
Well, considering how profitable Radiant Beauty Spa had been—recouping the initial investment within a few months and raking in millions in pure profit—it made sense that Heather wanted to expand.
Out of endless greed, people rarely stopped after their first taste of success.
After all, the limited space on the basement floor of Radiant Beauty Spa probably hindered many plans.
Rachel smirked.
Heather really was pulling out all the stops to get her involved.
She even wanted Rachel to invest in the new branch.
Checking the time, Rachel saw that it was just past ten o'clock.
After a brief moment of thought, she packed two boxes of Quinn's homemade desserts and cakes from the kitchen and told the driver, "Let's head to Radiant Beauty Spa first."
The driver nodded and drove out of the villa.
It had snowed all night, and through the car window, everything was a vast expanse of white. Many workers were still clearing the snow from the roads.
Due to the snow, the main roads hadn't been fully cleared yet, so the driver took a different route.
By the time they arrived at Radiant Beauty Spa, it was already 10:43.
Rachel greeted the receptionist at the entrance but didn't see Heather in the lobby. She didn't linger for small talk and took the elevator straight to the sixth floor.
In the office, Heather was asking Hestia what to do next.
Heather rolled her eyes at her. "You've been learning for over a month now, and you still need to ask me?"
Hestia clung to Heather's arm and leaned on her shoulder, pouting. "Last night, Asher didn't ask for my contact info at all, and he was pretty cold. I'm not sure what to do."
Heather gently poked her forehead, her tone a mix of helplessness and affection. "Someone like Asher, with his status, is never short of women, especially beautiful ones."
"Take his ex-girlfriend Rowan, for example. She's an influencer, but a real beauty. You look good, but making him fall for you at first sight isn't easy. Plus, he was just released last month; he probably isn't focused on this kind of thing right now."
"So what should I do?"
"Remember, it's about the chase. Let him miss you. Seeing you again so soon is a mistake."
Hestia lost in thought.
She was indeed in a hurry, eager for a better life and unwilling to endure the hardships of work.
Heather continued, "You shouldn't be too forward. You know how to play hard to get, right?"
Hestia paused. "I understand, Aunt Heather. I'll stay out of his sight for now."
Heather nodded. "Yes, be patient. This can't be rushed. Asher likes racing. He founded Velocity Racing Club two years ago and has won several international racing awards. You can try to understand his interests."
"Okay."
Heather smiled. "First, you need to have confidence in yourself. Then, find what makes you attractive to Asher and highlight that quality."
Before she could finish, there was a knock on the office door.
"I'll get it."
Hestia walked over and opened the door, surprised to see a beautiful face she recognized.
Rachel had prepared herself mentally but still displayed an appropriate amount of surprise. "Hestia?"
A flicker of panic and guilt crossed Hestia's eyes.
She had come to Dawnlight City mainly to climb the social ladder and marry into a wealthy family like Heather did. She hadn't planned on alerting anyone and just wanted to learn at Radiant Beauty Spa.
But seeing Rachel made her uneasy.
She softly called out, "Rachel."
"Rachel?" Heather's eyes darkened when she saw her. She quickly walked over and took Rachel's hand. "Why are you here? The roads are snowy; it's dangerous for you to come."
"It's fine, Mom. The driver brought me." Rachel smiled lightly. "Quinn has been experimenting with some new snacks these past few days. I thought they were good, so I brought some for you to try."
"You're so thoughtful, even while pregnant." Heather took the delicate basket from her hands. "You should have kept them for yourself or had someone else bring them. You didn't need to come yourself. Come in and sit."
Rachel walked in and sat down. "When did Hestia arrive? I hadn't heard you mention it."
Heather interrupted Hestia just as she was about to speak. "She just got here a few days ago. Actually, Hestia, you can ask Rachel now that she's here."
"What's the matter?"
Heather sighed. "After Hestia graduated, she interned at a publishing house. Last month, when it was time for her to be evaluated for a permanent position, her boss gave the spot to someone who had given him a gift. You know how soft-spoken she is; she just had to accept it."
"Her mother wanted me to find her a suitable job here in Dawnlight City. I was going to ask you in a couple of days if Stargaze Gallery was hiring. But you came first."
It was only natural for Heather, as an aunt, to help her niece find a job.
Rachel followed her lead. "Didn't we agree last year that Hestia would join Stargaze Gallery after graduation? It's my fault for forgetting. It would have been better to tell her sooner."
"It's not your fault." Heather looked pained. "You took over Stargaze Gallery only half a year ago. You had so much to learn, which is why I didn't ask you."
After Rachel's mother died in a car accident last year, the responsibility of Stargaze Gallery fell on her shoulders.
Although she had studied art, she knew nothing about management. It was Wayne and Carol who helped her get through it bit by bit.
Rachel didn't want to dwell on those painful memories. She suppressed her emotions and smiled at Hestia.
"Tomorrow's Friday. How about you come to Stargaze Gallery to complete the onboarding process, and start work on Monday?"
Hestia's heart sank, and a trace of reluctance flashed in her eyes.
Heather hadn't lied about the internship. It was true.
But because of that bad experience and the grievances she suffered, she hadn't planned on working when she came to Dawnlight City.
However, Heather had already spoken, and she couldn't deny it. She nodded lightly and smiled. "Okay. Thank you, Rachel. I'll be counting on you."
"We're family. It's no big deal."
Heather smiled and added, "Rachel's right. We're family. Just do your best at Stargaze Gallery."
Hestia nodded gently. "I understand."
After that, Heather tried the desserts and cakes Rachel brought and praised Quinn's skills without hesitation.
Rachel responded briefly, waiting for Heather to bring up the new branch.
Sure enough, it didn't take long for Heather to say, "Rachel, I'm planning to open a new branch in the north of the city. I was going to discuss it with you in a few days, but you came today."
