Chapter 306 Turn The Tables
Chapter 306 Turn The Tables
Both of them froze.
Aurora fainted?
Benjamin asked with a stern face, "What did the doctor say?"
The servant repeated the doctor's diagnosis.
After hearing it, both he and Rachel fell silent.
On the way to the greenhouse, Rachel had already told Benjamin about Aurora's plan to fake illness and frame her.
Now that Aurora had suddenly fainted, it was hard to say whether this was real or another act.
"I'll go check on her," Benjamin said to her. "Besides this courtyard, there's another one next door with nice scenery too. I'll have a servant take you..."
Rachel shook her head and interrupted him, "I'll go with you."
Even just out of courtesy, she should go.
After all, she had come today as Benjamin's girlfriend to visit, and Aurora was her "future mother-in-law," so she should naturally go see her.
Besides, Aurora's fainting now was somewhat related to her.
So she should definitely go see Aurora.
Benjamin understood what she meant and didn't refuse. He took her hand and headed to Quintuple Court.
Two crabapple trees that looked quite old were planted in the courtyard.
The flowers in early May were already at the end of their season.
The wind after the rain, carrying moisture, swept across the branches. Crabapple petals rolled with crystal water droplets and drifted down, decorating the quiet stone path.
Rachel had just paused for two breaths, taking in this beautiful scene with her calm eyes.
Diana, who had just come out of the main hall, was somewhat surprised to see the two of them. After composing herself, she stepped forward and nodded in greeting.
Benjamin only nodded in response without speaking, and led Rachel straight to Aurora's room.
"What are you doing here?!"
As soon as she stepped into the room, Rachel received several angry and disgusted looks.
Along with a sharp, angry rebuke.
Hearing this, Benjamin looked coldly at Miranda who had spoken, "What? Does my girlfriend need to report to you wherever she goes?"
This was blatant protection of Rachel.
Miranda was momentarily intimidated by Benjamin's gaze, then her eyes widened in shock.
She asked with a face full of grievance and resentment, "Benjamin... you're yelling at me? You're actually yelling at me for her? Did she put a spell on you? How could you..."
"Miranda!"
Jacob sternly rebuked her, "Shut up!"
Only then did he turn to look at Benjamin, his expression grave. "Benjamin, I have to say something about today's incident.
You know your mother's health isn't good. As her son, instead of standing up for her, you're helping an outsider upset her - what's that about? What exactly did she do to deserve you all bullying her like this?!"
Benjamin met his gaze with an icy expression.
Because his relationship with Aurora wasn't very good, honestly, his relationship with everyone in the Rivera family wasn't close at all.
They rarely saw each other.
Benjamin had no desire to respect them.
After a cold sneer, he mercilessly exposed Aurora's hypocritical nature, "Her health isn't good? I think her health is too good, otherwise how would she think of faking illness to frame someone?"
Faking illness?
Framing?
As soon as these two highly insulting words came out, everyone in the room couldn't help but overlook his sarcastic and contemptuous tone.
Eileen Rivera immediately stood up and demanded angrily, "Benjamin! How can you say that about your mother?! Even if she doesn't like Rachel, she would never use such dirty tactics to frame her!"
Benjamin lifted his eyelids slightly and posed a logical question, "Then you should ask her how she came up with such dirty tactics to frame my girlfriend.
She went back to Quintuple Court after eating. Usually at this time she's already taken her medicine and is napping. Why would she suddenly go back to Quadrangle Court?
Even if she was going back to see Grandma, she shouldn't have been in Dewfall Garden.
The route from Quintuple Court to Infinite Garden doesn't pass through Dewfall Garden. Besides, why wasn't Pearl with her today? Can you give me a reasonable explanation for all this?"
Jacob met his cold gaze and couldn't help but choke up.
Eileen showed no sign of backing down either, "Your mother isn't a criminal. She can go wherever she wants in the Wright Manor. Who says she can't go to Dewfall Garden courtyard at this time?
Benjamin, you're really saying all kinds of insincere things for this bitch!"
Then she glared angrily at Rachel, "Well, I've really learned something today. No wonder my sister looks down on you so much.
Rachel, you claim to come from a scholarly family, but your mind is so vicious. You're so unscrupulous in driving a wedge between them as mother and son. Is this the upbringing of the Davis family?!
Now Mrs. Wright has been upset by you to the point of fainting, and Benjamin is taking your side. Are you happy now?! If you don't give us an explanation today, we're not done with you!"
Rachel didn't lose her composure because of their accusations, insults, and slander.
She spoke up, "You're joking. Being pointed at and cursed at again and again today, I'm not happy at all."
"As for an explanation, that's even more ridiculous. Is the mistake that I saw through Mrs. Wright's scheme to frame me, that I didn't let Mrs. Wright succeed in framing me? Is this your logic? Well, I've really learned something today."
"You... you're silver-tongued, twisting the truth, being unreasonable!"
Eileen pointed at her with a trembling finger, "You keep saying my sister wanted to frame you - show us the evidence!"
Rachel wouldn't fall into a self-proving trap that was unfavorable to her.
She just looked at her calmly and naturally, asking back, "Then do you have evidence for claiming that I drove a wedge between them as mother and son, and that I upset Mrs. Wright to the point of fainting?"
"How could we not?! We're all witnesses! We saw with our own eyes that you upset my aunt until she fainted."
Miranda couldn't wait to chime in, with a triumphant look on her face, "Aunt even explained that she was dizzy, had chest tightness, couldn't catch her breath, and you helped her. You admitted it yourself. It wasn't at all that Aunt wanted to fake illness to frame you!"
Rachel looked at Miranda, who was almost jumping up and down.
She smiled.
She put on a helpless expression and sighed, "Ms. Rivera, I know you resent me because Mrs. Wright made you apologize to me, but how can you twist the truth?
You said it yourself - Mrs. Wright was already dizzy and had chest tightness and shortness of breath. I helped her so she wouldn't faint. Then she fainted afterward, and you're making up stories saying I upset her until she fainted. Isn't that a bit much?"
"What... what?!"
Miranda was shocked that she could actually turn the situation around.
