Chapter 35: Clock's Ticking, Your Time Is Up

Aurora's POV

I turn on Eddie's phone and dial 911 before slowly going up the stairs.

'Come on, pick up. Pick up.'

"911, what's your emergency?"

Oh thank goodness.

"Hello, my name is Aurora Hills and I need your help as fast as possible please."

I go up the second floor and I stop my tracks when I come across something... or more like... someone.

'Oh no.'

I felt my heart stopped and my hands and legs are trembling.

"It's okay, it's just me. Stefan." He said and he sounds like he's in pain.

I sighed in relief.

"Yes, please there's a killer in the house and my friends are injured." I gave them the address and they said they're on the way. Even though they told me not to hang up, I just give the phone to Stefan and he puts it inside his pocket.

"Where's Steven?" He asked.

Before I could open my mouth, I can hear the sounds which sounds like from the... music box and it's coming from the stairs.

"Shit." Stefan whispered. He grab my arm and told me to go up the stairs and look for Toby. "Hurry, leave him to me."

I quickly go up the stairs and on my way to the attic.

Stefan's POV

Aurora quickly went up the stairs and I slowly pull out my gun which I found in one of Steven's drawers.

"Aurora~" Steven called out and his voice so loud which means he's close. "Come out, come out wherever you are~"

"That's enough Steven." I said, and I came face to face with my own brother. Or in fact... I don't see him as a brother anymore. All I can see is a psychopath.

"What? Now, do you want Aurora all to yourself? That baby is mine." He said, aiming the gun at me.

"No. I'm gonna end this. I'm sorry Steven." I said, aiming the gun at him as well.

"I don't need your fucking apologies." He said.

There are only two bullets in this gun, I just have to pull the trigger faster than him.

Aurora's POV

I get to open the door to the attic and then...

'BANG!'

I flinched by the sound of a gun shot.

'BANG!'

I quickly get up the stairs and I found Toby laying on the floor. I quickly run towards him and take off the duc tape off of his mouth.

Then I pull out my pocket knife and I get to cut all the rope around him.

I then spotted a white cloth and I recognize that white cloth. I look up and I saw the corpse of their mother. I just shake my head and continue cutting the ropes.

"Hmm..." Toby groans.

"Toby?" I shake him and he starts moving his head. I cut off the last of the ropes and I gently shake him, to wake him up.

"Toby? Toby, wake up."

He groans and open his eyes. "Where are we?"

I let out a sigh of relief and hug him tightly. "You're okay. You're okay."

"What happened?" He asked.

I can feel tears streaming down my face and I quickly wipe them off.

"I'll explain later. But we need to get out of here." I said. "Let's go."

Then we froze. I hold Toby tightly as the figure starts walking towards us.

"It's okay. It's me, Stefan." I look up and I saw the face of Stefan.

"Thank goodness Stefan. It's you."

"It's over." He said.

"You mean he's..."

"Yes, he's finished. Now, let's get downstairs and help your friends."

I nodded and we head downstairs.

~Later~

The authorities arrived and the police are busy investigating the place.

"So far, they found a disturbing rotten corpse in the attic. And an unconscious body of Steven Anderson, I'm afraid we'll have to take him somewhere else." Detective Brian said.

"It's finally over. But..."

"Just give it some thought, Miss Aurora." He said and it gives me the idea that he knows what I'm talking about.

"I'm gonna have to go and check up on the investigation." Detective Brian said before walking away.

"Ro?" I look to my left and I realized it's Eddie.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Not really but I'm glad you're okay." He said as he sit down next to me and put his arm around me and I placed my head on his shoulder while rubbing my stomach.

"What are we going to do next?" I asked. Eddie just put his hand over mine before letting out a sigh.

"It's up to you. We're just gonna be here by your side. If you want to abort the baby, that's fine. If you don't want to abort the baby... I just hope you know what you can do." He said.

"I guess I still need to think about it. What if I die when I do abort the baby?"

"You won't. I promise." Eddie said, pulling me into a hug. "And don't think too much about it right now."

I hug him back and finally... I feel completely safe.
