Chapter 16: Fright Night
Aurora's POV
Heather and I walk all the way to my house since we're short on cash (because the costumes are expensive) while Eddie head home so he'll get himself ready.
"Come to think of it. I haven't seen your new house so this is pretty exciting. I want to see what your new room looks like." Heather said in an excited tone and I just giggle before my eyes met the sky. The sky takes on shades of orange and red as the shades of blue and violet are ready to come down and paint the sky.
I look around the neighborhood and I saw Halloween decorations hanging here and laying there. Jack-o-lanterns with different carved faces. Some fake web decorated on some front porches and the such. Laughter of children filled the atmosphere and leaves of the colors red, yellow and orange decorated the neighborhood as the wind brings the chills as I feel it hit my cheek.
We finally arrived at my house and I was about to open the door, I remembered that it's locked so I pulled out the extra key that is hidden in a pot right next to the door. I slide the key into the keyhole and unlock the door before putting the key back into the pot. We entered and I came face to face with... Steven with his arms crossed.
"Welcome home. You brought a friend over?" He started and I gritted my teeth a bit and I nodded while letting Heather in.
"We're just getting ready for the party so just don't mind us. " I said as I motioned Heather to follow me, heading upstairs. I look down at Steven and I could have sworn there's a bit of anger in his eyes. I ignore it and we continue going upstairs to my room.
"Woah, this house is huge. Your stepdad seems to look like a millionaire." Heather said.
"Nah, he's just doing his job. " I replied.
We reached the third floor and open the door that leads to my bedroom.
"Your bedroom is bigger and... you even have some marble tables!" She said, looking at my things before plopping herself onto the bed.
"Now, let's just get ourselves ready cause we have a lot of pampering to do." I said and she agreed.

We're all dressed up and I was just finishing Heather's makeup. I picked up a red lipstick and painted it on her natural pink lips.
"And done." I said as I put the lipstick down and Heather looks at herself in the mirror.
"It feels weird wearing makeup but... you killed it. Thanks Ro." She said and I smiled.
"All is left are... shoes. " She said looking down at her long, black socks with red stitching designs on it before looking at my solid blue stockings.
I went towards my walk-in closet and look for some shoes. It didn't take long to look for the right shoes since I already grabbed a pair of brown business shoes and a pair of black and white derby shoes.
I handed the brown shoes to Heather before putting on my shoes. They look like tapping shoes.
"I'm surprised that these fit me. Thank you so much Ro. You're way better than Tamara." She said but then her smile faded.
I put my hand on her shoulder and look at her with concern. I know her backstory with Tamara. Well... I was there too but Tamara treats Heather worse than me.
"Hey, that was the past. You don't deserve to be treated like that." I said.
"Both of us don't." She let out a sigh. "All those times since the beginning, she treats you and me like servants as if she's the queen. Like she's the boss and we're just there doing nothing but to do what she wants us to do."
With those words being said, I recall the dark times with Steven. That's how I feel. He treats me like a puppet and he controls me, abused me, threatened me. I was helpless and I didn't do anything.
"But... " She began which made me snapped out of my thoughts. "... when I'm with you, everything's different. You treat me with kindness and you're always there when I need you. I'm very grateful for that."
I smile and give her a hug. Then I felt a vibration from my blazer and it's a text from Eddie, saying that he'll be waiting for us outside of the school building.
"We should get going." I said as we walked out of my room and head downstairs.
It was kinda silent except for the creaks from the stairs as we take a step and another. We reached the end of the stairs and I saw Steven leaning against the main doors and he's wearing in all black clothing and he has a skeleton mask on his hand.
"Dad texted and he said that he's treating Mom and Toby to dinner and a scary movie marathon. So I'll be taking you two to the school." He said. I just let out a sigh and nodded. He opens the door and motioned us to go out first so we followed and step out of the house. We go on ahead and I can feel Steven's presence behind us.
__
Finally, we made it to the school and I saw Eddie still outside, with his hands in his trench coat pockets. Heather grabs my hand and we run towards him.
"Hey Eddie!" Heather shouted and he turn around and spotted us.
"Greetings and Salutations." He used another line as a greeting to us. I look down at his black combat boots, laces all tied up, up until I look up at his face once again. His hair is all slicked up and his piercing hazel eyes looking back.
"Well, let's not waste our time here and get going!" Heather said. We walk towards the entrance doors to the building and we're on our way to the gym, where the party is being held. I look around and I noticed that Steven is nowhere to be seen and that's gonna be a problem.
As we walked in, loud music filled our ears and there are faint mumbles and laughter in the atmosphere. Orange, purple and black decorations are decorated everywhere and colorful, lively lights brighten up the entire room. Everyone is dancing, chatting and having some fun and all of them are in different costumes. There were Disney characters, video game characters and a few are wearing classic Halloween costumes like witches, skeletons, zombies, etc.
"Geez, I'm thirsty. Let's get something to drink. " Heather said and the three of us walked over to the table filled with different kinds of foods. Cupcakes with green and purple frosting, variations of candy and the such. We picked up our red cups and pour some punch. The punch is in the shade of red almost looks like blood and it even has some gummy eyes, teeth and ears there.
We all filled up our cups and drink the red liquid. It's cranberry juice but it's a little bit sweeter than I thought it would. They probably pour in a little bit of sugar or probably it's because of the gummies that are in there.
I look around the room and I saw Steven hanging by the bleachers with some of his hands and he seems to be watching me. I look away and just trying to enjoy the party.
__
We were just chatting for a while and then all of a sudden, an arm was wrapped around my waist, which made me flinch a bit, and pulls me away from Heather and Eddie. I look up as I put my hands on the hard chest but when I look at the familiar varsity jacket... I knew it was Lucas.
"Hey baby doll. You're looking good tonight. Did you just made yourself prettier for me? Oh wait, who am I kidding? You're gorgeous everyday." He said and I rolled my eyes, letting an annoyed groan.
"Tell that to your ex-girlfriend and while you're at it, try to get back together. Both of you have something in common which is... a cold and narcissistic person. Now, quit it jackass and get off of me!" I said as I punch his chest yet he didn't even budge.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Aurora Hills in the flesh. " I heard the voice of Tamara coming from Lucas direction and she's wearing a slutty Disney princess dress and I'm surprised that she didn't get violated for the dress code.
"Trying to flirt with my ex-boyfriend here. Just as I thought." She said as she pushes me and I glare at her.
"God, you're getting on my nerves. Just leave me alone." I said as I completely break free from Lucas' grasp.
"Lucas, why would you waste your breath on someone like her?" She said, returning the glare.
"Simple. She's not some pathetic and snobby little brat like you." Lucas replied, which made her a little bit mad.
It became a heated argument and then Eddie grab my hand and we walk away from them while Heather followed us from behind.
Steven's POV
Those two bastards are hurting my baby and I don't like it. I can feel the anger and rage boiling inside of me as I watch them in anger while they continue arguing.
They must pay the price. They must face the consequences for their actions.
This will be a blood bath... for them.
